It's probably because TEKA left with Roczen. Utag Yamaha are going to be strong next year, Im guess Tonus will be racing the British Champs now as well which will be good for us! Smile

I think Roczen I looking for some good reasons just for looking not do bad... He just choice for good bikes, good money and good program. Rockstar-Red Bull hadn't a thing with it ofcours it is handy for Red Bull now they only need to sponsor KTM instead of KTM and Suzuki.

I find it weird that Suzuki makes money free for Teillet and they have money short for Tonus ... Why didn't they keep Tonus and just didn't sign Teillet. That guy didn't did anything good the last two years. He is still a great talent but not as Tonus.

Tonus and Roczen were sponsored by TEKA directly and I guess with Teka gone Tonus almost became a free agent and found the best deal possible. Teillet coming out of two bad years (and has already injured his shoulder) was a lot cheaper then Tonus.

Yeah indeed Tonus was a free agent after Teka to KTM because then they need to cut Tonus free. But why didn't they keep there money to make Tonus there best offer instead of put there money in Teillet and then they have not enough money to give Tonus a good offer.

But you have a point Teillet is maybe three of four times cheaper then Teillet ... Strange is also that they doesn't give a ride on Soubeyras or something but that they give a ride on Schiffer ... (with German Suzuki support) Soubeyras at a 250cc 4t. I would love to see what that kid could to because he is talented and he is just searching for a ride he doesn't need to pay for!

How many times did us Euro's argue with some of you Americans over that, but ya just wouldn't listen Whistling

Its so nice to see the admiration for him growing in the States, just as it was when people started to sit up and take notice of Pourcel. Roczen is on his way to great things in the sport.
Wouldn't listen? How about just reserving judgment until once can see for themselves? That's a hallmark of european culture, no? To be sure, the dude looks to be a natural. He is earning respect----no different than in any other country. I'm sure Zach338 had to "earn" the respect of the euros, which is entirely understandable. Hoping Ken does very well---not based on his country of origin, but because he is a rare talent. Remove broad brush from hand...... Wink

That was only a joke dude, hence the whistle! Smile

Didnt take Zach too long to earn respect over here, think he came 2nd or 3rd in his first race at Foxhills and was clearly fast as hell. He's another nice guy too.

What I was getting at was the common scenario where us Euro's might suggest 'Rider A' is really good and fast enough to run top 5 in America and the typical response is "NO NO NO, NEVER GONNA HAPPEN, YOUR CRAZY!".

I'm pretty sure Zachs first race was in Belgium and he got 8th in the 2nd moto which showed he had potential. Then in his 3rd GP he won the 1st moto in Ireland. If you want instant respect in the GP's you go out and win a moto.

SO, Teka followed Roczen and it had NOTHING to do Roger?
(Uh, so, no-one noticed that Teka was on various "Suzuki Teams" in 2010? Like the U.S. Nat's?)

Oh, O.K.

Whatever you say.

DeCoster might have played a small part in their decision to switch to KTM, but he wont really be working with Roczen for another year or so.

Ultimately Teka is a German white goods company that initially helped create a German MX2 Suzuki team in '08, based entirely around Roczen as their sole rider.

They increased their sponsorship to cover the MX1 Suzuki team and naturally, as an international brand they want to cover as many markets as possible. Im guessing the sponsorship you saw first was on Desalle's bike when he raced Unadilla...? At some point they agreed a mutual deal with Rockstar which meant both would share sponsorship commitments to Suzuki teams on either side of the Atlantic.

The Foxhill race was a British National Championship...where he ran with Sword and Simpson... I think he made the podium.

The World Championship are ruined anyway, by the luongo circus.I know the ama series isn't all gold,lately...But it's still a lot better compared to the gp-series.So if more riders would move over to the us, we would see the best racing with the best riders from all over the world. No matter what nationality they have..
All of you foreigners are jealous of what the U.S. has!!!
The championships you European's have isn't half as good as the U.S. if it was people form over there wouldn't come here!

Uhm ... The Riders aren't better in the USA! I mean we got Roczen, Herlings, Tixier, Desalle, Cairoli, Paulin and more of that but you Americans got good promo guys.

I mean you don't have to handle with Youthstream. You don't need to pay 50€ to see a National. If you calculate 50€ is 66$ that is SICK!

I dont like the fact that it costs so much to go to the races either, but everything costs money these days, Motocross is no exception.

A football (soccer) match is roughly the same price and that lasts 90 minutes, going to see a high profile band costs about £30 in England, and they might only play for an hour. The cheapest ticket for the F1 at Silverstone costs £125 (160$)!

Going to a National cost 22-28€ and going to a Supercross the most expensive tickets for Anaheim1 cost 56Euro and then you see the full track and a total spectacle of light and sang and stuff!

But that is no offense to you. In Europe they ask more to make more profits they only forget that then there are people are stop coming to events... Very stupid! Motocross is a family sport than you don't need to ask 50€ because then you need to pay 200€ for a family of 4persons that is insanity.

I guess we'll see. I wanted to see Roczen do well, but now with all this talk from overseas guys it makes me want to see him get beat. Why you gotta talk so much, and out yer ass to boot? He'll have plenty of competition when it comes to race time. Hang yer hat on MXoN because that was good.

This is what I find funny, but also a little bit sad... when 'people from over seas' speak in glowing terms about a rider you're not so familiar with you suddenly get all defensive and treat him as some kind of threat you want to see shown up... ? Its almost like an insecurity issue.

You say you were looking forward to him doing well before, so what harmful insults have been written above in 'all this talk' to warrant such a defensive turnaround in wanting to 'see him get beat'?

Its no different from hype that surrounds other young emerging talents such as Barcia/Tomac/Cianciarulo etc, but when its a Euro he becomes enemy No.1...
Well, for me it seems to always be GP vs. AMA, not National Pride with many of the GP fan guys. Just saw a bunch of comments elsewhere how RC couldn't have handled AC in Lommel if he was in his prime now. Why would anyone post such a thing? As if RC can't ride "real" sand....the other thing I hear from GP fans. GP this and GP that, "Southwick is like pavement compared to Lommel". Who cares if Lommel has deeper sand? Insecurity?

It's about how if Roczen does win, all that will be on here is about how the GP riders are superior now, etc. The fact that you think there is some insecurity involved speaks about your own thought process. I could care less who wins as long as it is great to watch and everyone goes at it fair and square. Non-Americans will be the ones tooting the GP horn espousing the downfall of AMA superiority when Roczen does well, in fact it is already starting right here based on some practice lap times. Ridiculous.

For me it is a lot like listening to Yankees (baseball) fans talk about their team. It makes you just hope the team bites so they'll shut up. I don't hate Derek Jeter, but man do I want to see him strikeout. Maybe there is a soccer team that is like that in GBR? Maybe you could relate? It isn't about Roczen at all or the kind of person he is, it is about certain people vocalizing their new found "superiority" of something that they had no contribution to making happen. These people can't vocalize when they have nothing to be vocal about. Fairly simple.
12/15/2010 5:08pm
Hmmm, maybe if all the American and European riders become as antagonistic towards each other as some of their respective fans appear to be; our Aussie guys might slip by unnoticed and bag a few podiums. Damn, if this U.S. -v- Euro thing gets outta hand we may even see an Australian champion - again!

exactly- everything is expensive over here!

I thoroughly enjoyed the lierop gp this year- thought 50 euro's for both days was pretty reasonable. I think its much better value than a football match (soccer for all you yanks) I do think they should let you pay for 1 day only at gp's though (say 15 euros for qualifying day and 35 for race day) as when i go to the valkenswaard gp next year ill only be going on race day (i'll be riding at a practice track on qualifying day)

We would have done that this year for the lierop gp but unfortunately i broke my leg 3 days before we went over so i had to watch from the side of the track in a wheelchair! Smile

I totally understand where you're coming from, but surely the metaphor about secretly wanting to see the Yankee's or the best Soccer team lose should really be reserved for us Euro's? American riders are the ones who have prevailed in our sport for so long, for various reasons.

Occasionally we get a rider who we can really shout about - Pourcel, Cairoli, Musquin/Roczen etc, so we're going to voice our support for them. Some people go over the top I agree, but generally we're quite a diplomatic bunch, but diplomacy doesn't convey very well on an internet forum because someone can misinterpret even the most irrelevant comment.

I just don't want your opinion to be swayed by people having a discussion about him (or any other European rider for that matter) on here. We're not saying he WILL achieve great success, but that as a mere 16 year old he has the potential. Remember what it was like for you guys when Villopoto was killing it at 16?

The Man just confirmed on DMXS, Roczen "West Coast" Lites!

Let's hope Barcia,Wilson & Bagget also are also riding the West. Smile
it would be amazing if they were all on the west coast, I am really looking forward to seeing ken ride supercross- if he does manage to run up front it will be some acheivement when he's got no experience racing supercross and is still so young.

Its amazing what he's acheived so far (still only 16 years old) - i just hope he stays fit through the supercross season so we can all see him in gp's fighting for the world championship. He is definitely the most exciting talent I have ever seen (although herlings is not far off- and will be another one to watch out for in 2012 if he decides to do any supercross!)

I can't understand the resentment for GP fans wanting to see GP riders do well when they race in the states (or the attitude towards non american riders eg. the fans booing pourcel and telling him to go back to his own country etc)

you should be glad that you are getting some of the top riders in the world wanting to race in america- most fans in the states dont go to watch any gps so if the gp riders didnt race in america then you would never get to see roczen, musquin, pourcel, DV, tortelli, Reed (who is australian but came from gps originally) metcalfe, mcfarlane (RIP), rattray, cairoli (meant to be doing some supercross this year), de-reuver, desalle (JMB!) etc
