Over the holidays.
Who is Liam Lawson?
F1 driver. It’s funny how pretty much any other Motorsport athlete is always a fan of motocross.
Moto is true freedom, load it in the back of your truck and hit the track/trails/desert etc.
They cant take their F1 cars home, they can't even practice in them unless its an official Test Day/Session.
MotoGP guys can't ride their race bikes at their home or local track, only street versions.

I wonder if this is real. I don't think RED Bull F1 would be happy with a driver riding moto. I mean F1 teams frown on drivers riding scooters for goodness sakes. I know D Ricardo rode a few pit bikes in the past. But not moto. Interesting
Lewis Hamilton a few years back in Colorado. Last month there were posts of him there on a KTM.
Dirt bike lover stole Marvin’s post straight from his instagram. What about this at all makes you think it isn’t real?? lol
Confused. Do people think this is an AI photo or something?? Lawson rides
They do it anyways. Baseball players do it all the time. They usually have specific clauses in their contract saying they’re not allowed, but they definitely ride in the off season.
Its all good until somebody snaps a bone…
Crazy, I wonder if he rode as a junior. I guess New Zealand is dirtbike heaven
I was a bit confused at this initially.
At first glance I thought I saw Marv with a 1 armed guy and the comment said "no alligators on that ride".
Then the next picture down shows the guy with 2 arms and I am thinking maybe he lost an arm to a gator? Then the OPs comment about didn't think he be allowed to ride?
Then I put the readin' glasses on and it turns out he is a F1 driver...🤣
I don't think the team has a problem with it.
Well, the way AI is now who knows. HÀ I knew he was interested in MX and completely believe this. It's just odd that a driver would allow this to be posted especially with the current situation Lawson has going on. Either way it's great to see
I agree 100%, Just not many post it or allow it to be posted. I think it's fine. I was just commenting because if you think MX teams are ruthless F1 teams take it to a whole different level of ruthlessness. Lawson found that out this year in F1. Either way it's great for our sport..
Nice gear Liam!
Liam loves to ride here when he's home, some other kiwi names you may or might not know that ride alot SVG - Shane Van Gisbergen (Nascar) Mad Mike (red bull drift car racer) Greg Murphy (aussie super car legend)
I’ll eat the downvotes with you. No idea who that guy is but assumed it was some pop star the way people were taking about him
Pit Row
Part of the appeal of motorsports has always been the danger, the raw speed, and the grassroots personalities who live and breath racing. Motocross still has that danger factor that alot of other motorsports have been able to minimize; there's no gimmicks like Push to Race, DRS, or Race for the Chase; and it's still more grassroots than other motorsports that are now filled with rich karting prodigies.
Rally and Isle of Man TT are the only other motorsports that I feel still capture that old soul of racing.
Denny Hulme (1967 F1 World Champ) was a well known cross country racer, often doing the Tarawera 100 in the 80's, on a XR350
I know it's not F1 but Rossi spent alot of time on all kinds of bikes while he was racing.
A lot of the MotoGP guys love moto! Quartararo actually looked pretty fast when he rode Pala.
Is that a 'water'? Or a real redbull? Maybe they are good for you? Kennedy, what say you?
Hayden, Duhamel, Lawson at milestone, handful years ago. Latter 2 geared up!
Jack Miller races heaps in Australia, does flat track events, local mx events, sometimes does an Aussie national, also has a legit supercross track on his property too
Lewis is actually badass. He loves motorcycles. He rides his Ducati to the races when he can. I read he actually prefers to ride to places rather than drive...
Don't some of them spend more time training on a dirt bike than on their GP bikes? I know that Marc and Alex Marquez at least ride their dirt bikes very frequently.
They don't get to on their GP bikes a lot, they have very limited testing time per year and then again on race weekends. It's crazy how good/skilled and specially fast they are for how little time they actually spend on those bikes.
By the way, always good to see Marv in riding gear! He didn't get the farewell season he deserved, that's for sure.
Where do you get that? Hamilton often rides motorcycles. He does ride days on road racing bikes. A lot of them are mountainbikers. Seems like they have more freedom than the moto guys. They even drive cars from other brands.
There’s a cool video of him and Toby price jumping a huge 200ft booter a few years back
When Juan Pablo Montoya was at McLaren, he had a contract that specified No Motocross etc. He missed a couple of races due to a "tennis injury" that allegedly involved a CRF450 😄
