People are calling him a quitter while others are saying he's not and the OP feels Prado is owed an apology by the former group because he finished 3rd at A1. I'm not sure what recent race results have to do with his conduct last year, but like so many topics on here the issues get muddied and emotion rules the day.

Your post heavily implied that he quit - possibly because he felt it was a last resort, but still quit - to get out of an arrangement that wasn't going the way he envisioned when he agreed to it. If that's the case then you are admitting he's a quitter and I was asking why so many are saying he's not and object to calling him one. But the reason for quitting wouldn't change the fact that he quit, agreed?

Lord knows I'm wading into dangerous waters here but it seems to me that people are objecting to the term "quitter" because they think others are saying that's how he does everything (which is obviously not the case). But you only have to kill one person to be a killer and once you've done it you are never not a killer - it applies forever going forward.

So, you can be a hard-working, likable, multi-time champion and still be a quitter. Doesn't mean you quit on everything all the time, but it would still be accurate and correct to put on a list of accomplishments (along with likable, champion, etc.). So, I don't see where people who accurately identified his behavior need to apologize for it. Heck, they might even be rooting for him going forward but despise how he handled the situation - I don't see them being mutually exclusive - sort of like parents being extremely disappointed in their kid but they aren't going to stop loving them (but that's just me, others might disagree).

Hope it clarifies things. 👍

Reason is everything.

If kawi would have given him a shitty stock bikenas the only option, no one would even discuss not qualifying as a quitting approach would them.

You don't have a answer, because there was only two options:

Ride out the contract, or take drastic actions.

Don't need a book for a reply for that.

I knew trying to have a reasoned discussion would come back to bite me, but here we are.

So, using your logic, if your significant other was cheating on you and you caught them, it would be okay with you as long as they gave you a satisfactory reason. And if someone killed your mother, again, you'd be okay with letting them off as long as they gave you a satisfactory reason. Because, using your words, "reason is everything". I can't say I'd do the same, but hey, it's your logic, not mine.

And I gave you an answer... but not to the question you tried to ask to shift attention from the topic at hand... because it appears you don't want to address it factually and seem to have an aversion to the correct English word to describe it.

In this instance, "take drastic actions" = quit.

I'll refer you to your own advice - Why use several words when one will suffice: quitter.

It's not an insult, it's simply an accurate term in this situation.

Have a good evening.

It's one race.  Give it some time...  He isn't coming off an injury this year and has one more year of experience.  He should be better no matter the bike.  He started great and lots of heavy hitters started way back on a track that was tough to pass on.

Kudos on great starts and a solid ride.  Let's see him keep doing it if things don't go perfectly.

A1 is always a crapshoot. He got lucky.

It’s actually an 06 platform.

Of course i would be fine with it. If my mother was unjustified trying to kill my brother, no problem. If I miss managed my marriage, of course I would be ok with it. You know why? I have myself to blame for the later.

You are not a murder, if the situation calls for it. Its actually in the law, and you know what is key for what they call it? The reason and situation.

Still don't have another reasonable alternative from you, taking in all the circumstances we know, for how the situation should have been resolved differently.

If he would have quit, despite having reasonable options on the table, very different scenario.

I've read this whole thread and nowhere in it is an official apology from Prado! I'm going to quit (much like Prado last year) while I'm ahead.

You wouldn’t call Cooper Webb a quitter, or Sexton a quitter. Webb stopped racing for KTM before the end of outdoors and was on a Yamaha by the time SMX came around. Sexton last year refused to communicate with team management at KTM by the end of SX, took the first available off ramp to get out of racing outdoors, twice. They are multiple examples of similar things happening, they are different versions of the same thing.

Sometimes an athlete finds themselves in a situation that simply doesn’t work for them and doesn’t allow them to be the best version of themselves and they have to act in order to protect their own career. It doesn’t mean that’s who they have always been, or who they will always be, or that they have a flawed character

I personally think Kawasaki USA was/is not on a level to have a 4 time world champ who exactly knows what he needs needs to perform best / ride safe.

If Prado issues a public explanation/apology it might clear things up. He probably can’t due to contractual agreements. But without more information, I’m disappointed in his performance last year.

Not sorry.

Not irrelevant.

If he had a bike that he didn’t feel safe on, isn’t it unfair to expect him to “push 100%”?

Who was it that parked their KTM due to him deeming the rear shock to be too unsafe to ride?

Another hot take I’ll provide for free is at this point I think what he did last summer was BA. Dude cares so little about other people’s opinions and had so much self confidence that he was going to self sabotage to prove a point. That’s a statement.

In a world full of men who get told what to do by women and employers, I appreciate that. Dude backed himself and stood on business and that’s why most of you don’t like him😂

He FORCED his way out of a guaranteed multi year multi million dollar deal and bet on himself massively.  I agree with what you’re saying.

Too many inbreds saying he should have tried his hardest even if that meant racing well below where he knows he should be. Mitch Payton himself said the 450 team found 20% over the season… that tells me they weren’t doing shit before hand, and making those gains mid season or by the end is too little too late. They needed Prado to force them to give it any effort in developing the kawi… total joke. He needed the 20% better bike in October 24 not in October 25, and then maybe they could have gotten somewhere. They were too slow, too stubborn, too big ego’d to get a move on.

Everyone still wondering what happened on the review pods…idk man, maybe listen to what Prado has been saying all along? He’s been honest the whole time and that’s what offended everyone lol.

Yup. He sure didn't make any friends. But for us fans the outcome is probably better than the alternative.

If he doesn't quit, Kawi doesn't start hating him and doesnt let him out of the contract. He starts A1 on the Kawi and gets 14th or crashes out. KTM only has 1 rider on the podium. Marchbanks doesn't have a 450 ride. Idk, I kinda like the current situation more. Fans win, Kawi wins (they don't have to pay someone millions for subpar results because he hates their bike and thinks the team is useless).

The only one that really loses is Jorge - financially. Because no matter how well he does, he's not making back the money he lost by ending the contract early. Well, I guess unless he somehow finds a way to win a 450SX title in 26 or 27 which isn't very likely.

If he gets 10-20 podiums and heat race wins between indoors and outs he might claw back some of that money!

I’ll tell you this, the haters are going to get sick of seeing him up front.

His starts are too good and everyone else is too mistake prone mostly due to bad starts,  that he’s going to run up front more often than any of the haters will like to see!

But did he put his bike on the stand by himself, or wait until his mechanic got there to do it for him? Lol.

All I care about is good racing. Prado being in the mix, makes for more good racing.

Its A1 and there was a lot of carnage. If anything Prado proved he's a one-dimensional bike rider. Kawi was fine in practice wasn't it? Sexton just did typical sexton things in the Main. Its only Round 1 guys, calm down.

Don't forget...if Jett would have been there, Prado would not have made the podium most likely. Plus, with all the first gate drop carnage Mookie and Bam were out. Sooo....don't go dropping to your knees for him too quickly.

Why? Why try to conjure that into existence. Last year sucked ass. We already lost Jett before the season and now Barcia and Stewart are out.

Your are forgetting one simple fact there cowboy. He test rode the bike BEFORE signing the exclusive deal. Did it have enough power then???  Obviously so…No one, absolutely no one, especially a 4 time MXGP champ signs a deal on a bike with inadequate power.

And round and round we go… so your theory is what? He didn’t like green and forced his way off a massive contract onto a contract for a fraction because orange matched his shoes better?

"It's only the first round" - doesn't mean it means nothing.

Doing better earlier (spectacularly better)- Prado - is better than doing something later. Starting out bad - Sexton - ain't good. Credit to him for limiting the damage and finishing right behind Webb. And I am confident that like Eli in those weird years Sexton will get better. But OK it's not.

Prado has opened up a whole new world and expectation, and for Sexton it is the same as we saw in previous years, but maybe worse because it's the first race.

No no, you can't say he bought the bike or engine straight off. Yea good chassi but i would say its more than likely Kawi had up on them to fix engine until he came onboard. And specially for outdoors.

Even Anderson said this weekend, he got torque from the Suzuki he couldn't get (but wanted) from the kawi.

It's not the results only. It's how he rode. He did jump combos others hesitated to do consistently. He looked like he's 5 years into SX like Hunter. Compare to last year it was night and day difference.

But he will be start dependent for sure. 1.07 up front doesn't give you top 5 starting 10th or 15th.
