I don't know what it is about this sport. apparently every single Virginia amateur racer in recorded history "raced Bailey" and beat him once. But then they had the "big injury" and "lost their sponsors." if you really want a daily dose of BS, work in a bike shop.
Or people told me they won a championship at Loretta's, or used to race against Bubba/MC/Carmichael.

Course, you were on the ground unconscious at the time, but still. I was running Vet B on a staggered start and you were running Vet A. You crashed and got knocked out. I thought it was cool that you came back to the track later that day to cheer people on.
I remember that race. I also raced vet b.

I nominate this dude Bernie Mcloughlin. I used to have dreams and shit so I started a moto zine called practicetrack. One day my best friend at the time/grahics designer David Graham was at a local shop where Bernie worked. So Bernie starts telling David how he owns practicetrack magazine and all. David took it in stride and let Bernie tell all of the details of how he was pretty much, me.

People fucking suck, man. Everybody is full of bullshit so much they belive their own to be true.

I had a silly ass rag and I couldn't ride myself out of a wet paper bag but I always joke about how much I suck. I did my best to reflect that attitude im my rag. I prefer people who are real and don't blow themselves up. And all of the people I met who wrote shit and gave me their photographs seemed to do the same.

I met and befriended almost everybody in this industry...so fucking what. Now I work at a family shop where I get thrown under the bus by the family fuck ups who I have to watch out for, while I try to make up for their shortcomings hoping to keep the doors open. Yeah, I've had two raises in two years which is pretty lucky in these times....but still I go to work everyday feeling like an awkward retard amongst these people.

May I reiterate, people fucking suck. Everybody is full of their own bullshit. Even this industry is not small enough to wipe it out from within. Take that to a global level and we are all too stupid to free ourselves. None of that is Bernie's fault. He's still caught up in his own bullshit. He's still fun to remember, though. He probably still has a flat billed hat and stealing from the register and smuggling parts home to outfit a bike he doesn't fucking ride.
I hope you don't own a gun..

the guy at Burger King may have not been a Supercross Champion......but some former Supercross Champions may work at Burger King Smile

Who claims to never have had a "Team Green Ride" btw? I think the list of people that were NEVER "Team Green" is shorter than the ones that claim they WERE "Team Green".

Love the fat guy leanin' over the starting line fence with a beer too (Natty Light)....he usually knows the inner twinings of the local sheetrock industry & has a medical condition, technically known as "big gut, no butt" syndrome.

My son and I had the local (badass gnarly) practice track all to ourselves one day. In rolls a Ranger pickup with Mom, Dad, teenage son and a couple year old RM125. Kid has all appropriate gear and seems ok. He unloads bike and hits the track. Looks to be a midpack intermediate skill level. Dad, who looks to have or has had a lot of fun with drugs, for a very long time...proceeds to tell me that his son is going to race at the Kansas State Fair and he needs to get aquainted with the new bike. He goes on to tell me how he used to race all the big boys in the 70's and 80's. He knows all the names and tracks but I've already mentally called bullshit. His wife just sits there and nods like..."Yep, I remember when he did this or that". Anyway, the son comes in and dad snags helmet and goggles....no boots or anything else...jumps on bike and proceeds to blow my mind. This guy is the real deal...my son and I have wood from watching this guy own this track he's never even seen before. The wife and son just watch with obvious pride. They finished and left about the same time Bart the track owner rolled up. He asked me who that was in the truck and I said, "Shit man, I forgot to ask his name". I told Bart that even though he looked like a crack head he was amazing on that tiddler. Bart said he didn't know his name but one of the shops had called and asked if and an old midwest ledgend and his kid could ride at his place. All I know is that this one time...my Bullshit-o-meter was way wrong.

'Downtown Dan the Dirt Bike Man' should be recognized by the Nobel awards commitee. Someone could and probably should write a book. The only problem would be the BIG, and I mean VERY BIG, industry names that would be embarrassed by their involvment in some of his tall tales.
Holy cow,

I actually thought of Dan before I saw your post Randy.

I would put that monumental liar against anybody.

A typical Diamond Dan ploy would be to show up late for school every monday.

When questioned by the teachers DD would simply tell them that he was a pro rider running the MX nationals and often had a hard time getting an early evening flight home because of his PR duties hanging out at the track signing autographs long after the race was completed.

Although he was capable of slinging the BS with an almost artistic flair, one teacher was not completely convinced and decided to confirm his story by checking with a local motorcycle dealership.

They had to wait until the hysterical laughter died down to get a complete answer.

One of his particular favorites was a race at Morganton when he suffered a humiliating defeat in the C class.

He ghost rode his bike into his pit area, threw a boot through the rear window of his truck, went on a tirade, and stripped down naked to put his street clothes on.

He just happened to be parked next to a gentleman that was there with his wife and daughters.

This gentleman went over and quietly informed Dan that if he didn't get some clothes on pronto or uttered the "F' word one more time he would not be able to say anything for an extended period of time.

Sometimes BS slingers are the most capable of realizing that the BS has stopped and they are standing on the edge of a slime covered cliff.

Typically they don't go around bragging about what they have done, or how big of a bad ass they are, or were. I served in both the Army Airborne Rangers and the Special Forces (Green Berets) and during that time have come across SEALs, Airforce Para-rescue, and Marine Corp Force Recon guys during schools and operations. The one thing that most of them have in common is they are very low profile, humble, non-bragging types. Yes, we might sit around amonst ourselves and bullshit and usually our war stories begin with no shit there I was...... That is the leading disclaimer that I am going to stretch my story a little bit.

But if some guy walks into a bar or other location and just starts talking to people there and saying how much of a bad ass he is, or was, 99% of the time they are full of shit and lying out of thier ass. That should sent up a big red flag right there.

I have run into guys like this over the years, and I do enjoy busting them out for the pieces of shit they really are.

It's common for alot of people to accuse me of a bullshitter.

- my blue nitrated forks, yes they're stock forks, nothing fancy about them except they look trick as hell.
- i'm friends with SupercrossLIVE announcer Jim Holley, and i've been to his house and got to look at all his world supercross championship trophies and memorabilia.
- I got to hit ramps with Justin Starling at the red bull compound.
- My dad was a supercross team manager in 2006.
- I raced Langtown on 50s.
- I won a Ponca City qualifier in 2007 and almost passed Garret Eckman (I crashed because I hit his back tire coming into a rut)
- I got to play in the foam pit with Travis Pastrana and watch Jim Dechamp practice frontflips into the foam pit, i also met Ronnie Renner, Tennessee, Scott Palmer, and Tarah Gieger that day.
- Ive ridden at Castillo Ranch for the RacerX Ride Day twice.

That's only half of the cool things ive gotton to do, yeah i brag about it sometimes but im never lying!

Therefore, i'm not a bullshitter.

Oh yeah, i've also hung out with Mat Rebeaud alot, and ridden supercross with Kyle Cunningham, Billy Payne, Cole Seely, Danny Smith, Eric Mccrummen, and Jeff Northrop. I rode the supercross track at red bull on 85s with Chris Plouffe, until he got KO'd. Thats why he doesnt remember going there with me.

Nobody cares though.

in hereford were the SAS are stationed,
i was speaking to a fat fucker, who was dressed in camo eating chips and drinking loads of beer,
talking about how id better not mess with him as he is ex sas,
and that if he wanted to, he'd kill me in 1 second flat with one hand,
like he did numerous times in the falklands and iraq,
its absolutly pathetic but hilarious at the same time.
and he expected me to beleive him!!!!!

I knew it was you just as soon as I saw your pic blasting through that corner. We both raced against some incredible talent back in the day...Crozier,
Bradshaw, Turpin, Dukes, Kizzar etc. etc. but there is no doubting your corner speed and unique style. Unreal. I will never forget watching you at the Mini O's one year on that slick supercross track...with the rock hard, flat corners...and your were freaking lighting it up!! Did you get that from your brother? Didn't he do some road racing as well?

Good memories racing with you, Kevin. And speaking of backwoods, TN...I have stories of Kizzar that would melt this place down. LOL's. Plus many stories racing and hanging out with Dukes as well. Good times for sure.

Stay healthy.

Dang,

I tell Kizzar stories like him trying to jump over the light wire at Candies Creek and people think I am a bull shitter!

The one about him getting in a fist fight with another local pro in the middle of the track during practice is a good one too.

He broke his hand on their helmet the night before a big $5k race at Tunnel Hill.

Can you maybe verify that one Danny?

My family wrote the Bible and invented the Gooseneck trailer..............and I'll call the GBI if you don't believe me.

Right now I'm sitting on the beach selling Real estate from my laptop. Soon I'm going to head down to my Pro Wrestler buddy's tanning salon and get my fake bake.Evil

No kidding.

I'll put it in perspective for ya: I just came back from a 12 mile mountain-bike sprint. At the halfway mark, as is my routine, I stopped at the local tanning salon. One of the customers there is a pro wrestler. . .

Maybe I should be like YOU clowns and marry the first decent woman who'd charitably give me the time of day! Sorry; doesn't work that way for me. I never bragged before but I've ALWAYS gotten hot chicks, and right now I'm doing better than ever in that department. The only reason I talk about it now is in hopes that you clowns will get so sick of hearing from me and about me, maybe you'll STFU and go away! . . .

As for the women in my life, that's none of your business, but the reason I posted so late last night was because I was out to dinner with a reeeally hot brunette (and you weren't). . .

I'm not married and I can see as many women as I chose. Probably more in the last 6 months than you have in your entire life. Look at it as auditions, OK? Or just STFU and mind your own business! . . .

"Black-and-White" vs. "Shades of Gray" again! What if I could have afforded a new Harley a YEAR ago instead of laying in a hospital bed? What if I could afford a BETTER Harley, or a BIGGER boat? See my point?

Want me to shut up? Then YOU shut up! . . .You clowns have run off most of the reasonable members on this BB. Activity is way down and half of that is smack, bashing, and BS. . .

I blame Bruhn for fostering this mentality. I mean, wasn't he the pioneer of internet MX BB's? Glad I flicked the propensity for internet hackery like a booger off

JustMX,

You are not bullshitting, for sure. Too bad Kizzar didn't quite make it over that light wire. LOL!!

Kizzar got into so many fights with the other pro's at Tunnel Hill that I cannot remember which of them caused the broken hand. He just went nuts after he turned 16...and racing for money. Was it with Dukes that time when Duke's mom hurdled the fence and bitch-slapped Kenny? That was a sight to see for sure. Or was it when Goose body slammed him at the finish line? Or was it the time when he jumped into me mid-air ? And then his dad took a swipe at my dad. Or was it when he and Tolbert got into that scuffle? Or was it at Candies Creek when we both came to a complete stop in a corner and then pulled a stunt like Ryan did to Lawrence...lifting and then lauching his front wheel into me like a weapon?

Oh, man...I could go on and on about that dude. He was fast as hell at times though. There is no doubting that. Remember the time at Ponca in 1985 when he finished second overall...just behind Lowell Thompson...for the entire, overall 80cc Expert Championship? And that class was stacked! I still have a holeshot pic that came out of a magazine that shows me in second just behind Jay Mann and behind us you could count at least ten guys...or more...that could win that moto. Lowell Thompson, Jeff Emig, Kyle Lewis, Rick Simmett, Scott Brown, Vince DeVane, Sean Dukes and so on.

Glad I flicked the propensity for internet hackery like a booger off
LMAO, can't believe you still have this! Do you keep the files for posterity?

I pasted it in a document years ago after a longer list was some real gems got toasted in a board crash. Dave had most of them.

They're just amazingly great BS prose, hard to tell whether the satire was intentional or not. The tanning salon riff remains the high bar here as far as I'm concerned.

Those are the BS giants, the ones who leave you seriously wondering if the guy/gal is serious. Rich was the king, followed maybe (and maybe sadly because she was crazy more than a bs'er) by your friend Shyla, and maybe Premix holding their robes.

Self-absorbed twirps like DDavis somehow manage to combine being laughable without being amusing. They're like yappy little dogs crapping on your lawn. Very low-level BS quality.

I was waiting for that Navy Seal thing to come out. I was a Jarhead and every Navy guy was a SEAL or about to become one and hurt their knee. Dirt Sickle is very funny!

I've only ever known 2. One was batshit crazy and scared me to death. He is literally the only person I have ever been truly afraid of. Scary guy.

The other was one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. Very low key.

Haha,

You have hit on your head too many times.

the fight I was talking about was the one that you and he got into right after the finish line at Candies Creek.

It was on a Friday night when his parents ran the track and I was helping them.

We had to stop practice because between your bikes and you two rolling around you had the whole track blocked.

Kenny popped you in your aria mouth piece and the next day at Tunnel Hill his hand was so swollen he couldn't even hang on.

What is he doing now,

School Guidance counselor?

Did he go into the priesthood?

Politician?

The legend of GDRacing

This Skullet guy used to come into our shop and drop some $$$$ and would regale us with his stories of where he raced at the last week, but our intell always proved them to be lies.
So one day we finally cornered him and told him we knew that he never even rode or used the parts we sold him.
So a day later his wife calls and tells us the story: GDR was mildly retarded and had only raced once, and a Ponca City race(not the national). After the finish line when you go down that fenced pathway he whiskey throttled it into a guy... well when GDR took his helmet off the guy saw he was challenged and started screaming intelligence-based slurs. It mortified GDR that he hasn't been on a bike since, but he loved the sport so much he thought the only way he could fit in was to buy parts from our shop and lie about his racing. Poor guy didn't understand that all he had to do was be a FAN and we'd let him hang out around the shop.

We all felt a little bit smaller about ourselves after his wife called.
There are many more funny GDR lies, but telling them would make me feel like a prick.
