Does cooper webb win another title in arguably the toughest time to be a 450 champ for the 4th time? If he pulls it off this year do people still doubt him? I know it feels like even with jet out he is still a 3rd-5th place guy... but why? Why do we still put chase and eli ahead of him every year? Is it just the raw speed thing? Why did dungey get so much talk about his consistency and it feels like coop doesn't really get is flowers? I know one thing, Cooper Webb has heart, and is also DOGGGG and I can't wait to see what unfolds!
Dungey got talked about the same way, and still kept churning out titles. Others were always mentioned before him as the title favorite.
Dungey got it done indoors and out.
He sure did, and he was doubted every year there too.

Titles don’t lie. Webb has 3 of them separated by 6 years. Race craft and resilience.
He got it done outdoors, but he was no slouch indoors.

Webb is tough for sure, he’s Chad Reed reincarnated. Only thing is, he’s one year older, but the rest of the field is getting older too without Jett being there aside from Chase and Hunter. Same for Tomac. If he wins then it will be awesome. Buttttt, Dungey was a completely different type of rider that was being doubted because he had to battle Stew, Reed, RV, then a healthy Roczen, and Tomac. 4 of these guys are in the top 10 all time. The fact he could have swept 2011 outside two mechanicals is insane to me, because 2011 is regarded as the one of the most dominant years in history as far as seasons go. Webbs fall off in his bad seasons is no where near the same, so I feel he deserves some doubt, even though he has the skills to perform we have seen some weird seasons out of him, Dungey was never even close to that. I’m a secret Webb fan, because I was a massive Reed fan.
In the end, it'll be Roczen and Tomac battling for the championship crown.
Oh I understand. I was implying that Dungeys consistency differs from Webbs (question from the OP) because Dungey was also winning outdoor titles.
Love Cooper but I do think it comes down to the raw speed. He's not flashy, he just grinds and never lets anything bother him. He gets his ass kicked, he's mad for a day and then he's out to prove people wrong again. Like a robot. Of course he has got a couple titles from people getting injured too. I don't see him winning it this year but if we have some more injuries, who knows.

Webb has great race craft.
Webb is a tier 2 guy who inexplicably never throws away any points. He can't beat any of the top guys unless they beat themselves for him. It is shocking how often they have done that in supercross. Webb gets exposed for who he is when they go outdoors and he is lucky to be in the top ten. His titles that were handed to him by top guys melting down are an absolute embarrassment to the sport.
The odds are heavily against them due to their age. 50 years of Supercross has proven it is a young man's sport.

I got a chuckle at the press conference when Keefer said out of the 382 SX preview shows only 3 or 4 predicted Webb would defend his title, Webb said "That's about 3 more than usual " 😃

Roczen and the start of the series has never been an issue. Let's see if that holds up for the next 16 rounds. Been awhile since he was in the conversation for the title.
