After a bad roadrace crash about 20 years ago, my injuries (broken fib & tib and TKR) resulted in my left leg being an inch shorter, over time, than my right, is my imagination that I have stability issues when standing/jumping, anyone else felt the need to raise a peg, did it help?

I've been around chiropractic for many years.  Since the difference in leg length increased over time, rather than at the time of the accident, at least some of this is in your hips or low back.

Adjustments can help normalize it.  It's important to get it fixed, or you could start having disc problems.

I'm not a chiropractor.  I've just been around it for many decades.

20 years of compensating for an injury / disfigurement.

I can relate to that.

Without a doubt, setting up you bike(s) to suit YOU, is Hugely important.

Everything I do to my bikes, be they RR, Dirt, Pushies, is about making them Fit ME.

I'm luckier than many, as I can pretty much make what I need. Others, generally have to pay others - and that, time and faffing about, costs $$$$$$.

Keep in mind , after all that time of compensating for the shorter leg, when you try different peg heights / placements ( and the required Brake Lever or Gear Lever adjustments ) it probably Will be a bit difficult to get used to. Don't just try something, and write it of, it might take a few variations of the Mods you do.

As a starter, get few bits of steel / wood/ what the bloody ever, to put under the shorter leg, when in your riding position in your garage / workshop - Both Standing and Seated. That can give you a point to start from. If you've steel pegs, it's not hard to do a basic peg height loop raiser, that you can easily remove, or, reduce the height of.

Have a go, take your time, and think  about things. It may well make things so much better for you - And, the rest of your body. We incur So Much Damage to Other  Parts of Our Bodies, through such differences in appendages.

He had a platform boot on his shifting foot (left) I believe. He was so fast!

When I’m riding it doesn’t bother me that much ? I put a Dr Shoals pad in my boot on the short side. Standing is when it’s the most noticeable for me, more so than walking. Bicycling I don’t notice it. I have koostum sandals and shoes. Rainbow sandals charged me $120’ including the new sandals. And our local shoe place charges $75’. IMG 9298 4

My leg difference is all from the knee down, if I sit with my knee at 90 degrees, my left knee is 25mm lower.

I had a rod down my tibia, getting back into riding & running too early may have compacted things?

Ha! This looks like my shoes and related!!  My right leg is 1 1/2" plus shorter. Measurement depends on how good the chiro is on getting the hips aligned prior to the taking measurements. About a 1/2" at the tib/fib area and the rest above the knee. Both happened on MS Adventure rides (just unlucky - not foolish) first one was Southern Chile 1999 and the second was New Zealand 2001.  Short right leg.jpg?VersionId=0oG5BiTDDu zXDHoWwcUACR

Good to know on the sandals. My left leg is 5/8” shorter than my right, I have orthotics that I put in my shoes, but every summer my back gets out of whack when I start wearing my sandals.
Broke my pelvis and back in 1984 and been dealing with it since.

Here is a photo of Dennis Jonan at the 2006 Orlando Supercross, I wonder if he had to raise up his shifter because of his tall boot sole?

Tim507, 1-1/2"+ shorter ? Damn.... that's tough that's a big difference. Sounds like you have the best stories though, at least you got that going for you  🤷‍♂️

Sr_Vet _Rider.  Yeah the sandals are nice, if I walk around barefoot for any length of time my lower back will get unhappy with me.  Plus you don't have to worry about someone stealing your sandals, and if someone were to take them just wait, they'll walk in a circle and come back around to you like a jetski lol. Like you I also broke my pelvis, who knows if they get your hips back where there supposed to be when that happens. I've had 3 hip replacements too so I think my geometry is all out of whack.

Good luck OP, you don't have any problems in "Real" life from the shorter leg ?  I put one "Fat" Dr Shoals gel pad in my boot and it helped, I tried two but the boot got tight and just felt weird, like my foot squished around in the boot. Let us know how it goes if you experiment with raising the peg.
