Good suggestion from someone that knows.
Happy New Year, my friend.
Honest!!
It ain’t no French Riviera, that’s for sure. 🤣
I have a very close family member that was a legendary commander of the USS Seawolf who past away recently. Real life “the hunt for red October”. American submarines played a huge role during the Cold War. The USS Seawolf conducted extensive secret operations in the Pacific. If I told you anymore, they would come looking for me. Seriously, I know nothing. 🤪
E Bikes in San Diego is a must do.
Is LegoLand on the Carlsbad MX site?

Don’t think so. Was out there not too long ago and remnants of starting gate was still there. It’s at the intersection of South Melrose Dr and Lionshead Ave. there is an overlay map buried in a thread somewhere on this site.
I checked it out in 2019 I think, before an NJROTC week long summer camp at coronado I think.
The Pro Circuit and Troy Lee shop are probably about an hour / hour and a half away from San Diego in Corona, and they’re pretty close to each other too. Those two places are worth the drive imo.
If yur going to go up to the 91, then plan accordingly and from Pro Circuit head east to Malcolm Smith's shop, then on around to Chapparal and maybe even on from there to check out Glen Helen.
Places to stop along the SD county coastline don't interest me so much, but I always enjoy a cruise on the Coast highway from the bottom of Oceanside all the way down to La Jolla (or vice versa).
Here's the overlay of where Carlsbad used to be. It's all industrial area now and, in a little known fact, the property was bordered on three sides by three separate cities: Carlsbad, Vista and San Marcos. This pic came from this forum somewhere if you need to check it out further.
No, miles apart
Wow that doesn’t even look like the place I went to! That’s crazy! All I remember was having To park and walk a bit. Maybe they expanded the military base Camp Pendleton, I thought it used to be more south of Onofre. But it was close for sure
They even call it “Carlsbad Raceway Business park”.

I ride my bike in the trails they have. Some pretty cool tunnels over there too.
Old town with dinner at Guadalajara's. I recommend the Polo Mole Poblano!
USS Midway and the Star of India
Any boat tour on the harbor
Visit some of the local moto shops and grab some t-shirts. Motoworld of El Cajon is old school moto and has lots of memorabilia. Fun Bike Center is where I got my start in the industry in the early '80's and I've still got good friends there. Check out GP Motorcycles downtown if you're into Euro bikes. They've always got something cool tucked around a corner somewhere. C&D Cycle Center if you like the ebike stuff and the owner is a hardcore off-roader.
Sadly, SD isn't what it used to be but that can be said for pretty much everywhere. It's still my hometown and I'll always be a fan and hope for the best for my friends that are still there.
I agree with everything you said, except Old Town. Old Town sucks, total tourist trap hell hole.😆
Are you Johnny Utah, the B.A.S.E jumper?
How was the experience?
I've been to San Diego to catch flights and a few times for SX but have never had the time to do the sight-seeing stuff.
I liked it a lot, it was really cool. I won't share too much, but if you're in San Diego, definitely check it out.
No, that’s a few miles further west on PAR. Where the track was there is now a business park and several Amazon parking lots.
Top Gun house has been moved north a couple blocks and is now a cheesy tourist pie shop .
Right up from this is a great Mexican restaurant, Miguel's Concina. Sea Port is a cool little area too south of the Midway that has a ton of little shops and restaurants
Pit Row
All kinds of things to do and see there . Weather is amazing year round too. I would move there in a heartbeat
I grew up in SD 1962 -2017 when we relocated. I guarantee you the weather is NOT amazing year-round.
World famous on Mondays! Half priced appetizers!
Ketch has a couple locations both on the water. Little Italy is a cool place to walk around and get dinner but parking is expensive. Any Mexican place is good in old town but I prefer Casa de Rey. If you want steak head to Gaslamp and hit up Lou and Mickeys and get a 90 day dry aged ribeye, or Born and raised.
You live in El Cajon?
last 17 years was Lakeside. Before that => Jamul, El Cajon, La Mesa, El Cajon, Serra Mesa, PB, El Cajon, Santee, San Carlos (62-81), La Mesa.
Can’t wait to see the SD mudder thead in a few days….
Well there you go lakeside for 17years would make anyone think San Diego sucks.
yeah, Lakeside was horrible. Really hard to take 2.5 acres lot at end of short street with my own MX practice track and wife's horse area. 20 mins to Barona Oaks, 30 to Cleveland national forest and little over 1 hour to deserts for riding/camping. What actually sucked was most of the people, especially the ones I met working in Carlsbad for a few years who were extremely stuck up thinking they were special because they lived in North County. I don't miss the daily marine layers, May Gray, June Gloom, Santa Anas with fire season, high taxes, overcrowding, or corrupt government at all. Looking forward to the day the big 1 finally hits and breaks off the Western half of the state into the sea.
I’m praying for only about 1/2 mile of coastline to fall into the ocean. Then I’ll have oceanfront property I can sell and move to North Dakota.

Haha yeah beach side weather does suck. And all the fucking trustafarians really suck. I’m in cardiff, pluses and minuses for sure. Hot chicks is not one of my issues tho
