Yeah, it's like everything you spray it on starts to fail! 😄
I've used all kinds of oil in my 2 stroke gear boxes and in my 4 strokes, 5w-30 to 20w50. Automotive, motorcycle, & HD diesel. I can honestly say, I never feel a difference in clutch or shifting action. I do notice when it's hot outside my 450fx seems to have more engine noise unless I use a 5,10, or 20W50 oil. I would run 20w50 all the time, but under 30 degrees the engine cranks a little slow, and below 20 degrees it won't start.
Personal opinion is most any quality synthetics are fine if you change it frequently. For 2T I look for a group V ester based with a reasonable flash point. Many of the 2T oils we used to buy are no longer available like Mobil 1 MX2T or Castrol TTS. Currently I buy the Honda HP2 because it's readily available in cases at a lower price.
been in the sport since 1986 and i’ve tried them all and i gone back to where i started and run Maxima for everything except for my two stroke transmission i still use Honda gear oil. Its regularly the most economical high quality option for everything I use both four and two stroke!

Awesome thanks for the heads up.
For those that don't know, local oil distributors can often sell you oil at great prices when you buy it by the case, but that's major retail brands like Mobil or Castrol.
BELRAY
Rotella of course, I started in 2012 I think…. A buddy was telling me it’s the best. Then at High Point pro national I found some empty bottles behind 2 factory semis and a bunch of empty bottles in the privateer pits and that’s the day I switched

They were probably putting in the trucks like its supposed to be used......
One of the guys I raced with was an engineer in the petroleum industry. He told me to just run Rotella, keep it changed, and don't worry about it.
Changing truck oil at the races 😂. It's a know fact many teams at least used to use rotella in the bikes. I bet some still do, but with so many camera phones and social media posts they'll be better about not leaving the evidence laying around.
Even with the new formula? Some guys that are very knowledgeable are above being updated. Just sayin'
This was quite some time ago. I haven't talked oils with him in over a decade. So yes, the whole ZDDP change changes everything.
Anyone tried this stuff?
Don't know of the picture has uploaded but its Amsoil MUDLSINGER
What's wrong with the new formula? It's still got more ZDDP in it that JASO 1 and 2 call for, iirc it's got 1200 ppm, and still meets or exceeds the rest of the requirements. Personally I think it's a bit overpriced now, but it will be fine in any motorcycle.
Pit Row
I still use it for things. The low sulfur is a benefit in some cases, like keeping the oil ring gland drain holes from clogging. Nothing wrong with it, but it does get outperformed by others in the tappet test.
Rotella since 2001 and my first mx stroker. Changed every 3-4 hours and filter changes every other. No failures ever.
Rotella T6 15w40 in my XR650L, it's air cooled, runs hot as hell, gets ridden like a choir boy at a catnolic school, and never fails me. I change it often every 1000-1500 miles.
I am surprised to see other answers than shell rotella... lol
