What rides are even out there? After the Valli ride went to Wey, I just don't know of
even a privateer team that could pay him half of what he wants. I don't think its about
taking less at this time. I think its too late to get any ride other than prob ride for free.
I hope im wrong.
I hope you're wrong but that's exactly what I was thinking too. There's no way he has a ride secured and they just haven't announced it, and all the teams are moving on. He reminds me of the girl in school who turned everyone down on prom because she was sure the quarterback was gonna ask her out then it turns out the quarterback was gay and went on to play for the Patriots.

If we don't get to see him race 450 SX this year I think all of us as fans are missing out. In my opinion he would contend for wins right away.

Even if you are right, even if he has just as much of a chance of winning the championship as JS, CR, RV, and RD (ignoring for a moment the other guys out there like KW, TC, AS, JW, JG, BM, etc who could also get a win any given night), that's still just a 1/5 shot at the championship.

When you have one guy like Jeremy, or even 2-3 guys like Reed, Stewart and RC a few years ago, the companies betting on them had nearly a perfect 1 in 3 chance at the title, not to mention the bigger pool of money with which to bet.

Now you have a championship that is arguably worth less than before (as translatable to bike and product sales with the consumer index so low), a 1 in 5 chance at best at that championship, and less money to invest in the championship and you get talent like Pourcel on the sidelines.

It's just a fact of life. He seems to have accepted this and is fine with his decision to sit out and thus so am I. I would rather watch riders who really want to be out there anyway.

I think TLD still has a pretty big spot vacated by Townley. Not that big a payday, but still a decent spot. Maybe with that Sillybandz money?? haha. I still think Pourcel will be with Mitch on a 450. They just need to convince Monster to fork over a bunch of dough.

If he sits out completely it will probably go down as the most ridiculous shooting of the foot to ever happen in MX. Is he coming back in 2012 to demand his $2 mil again? After sitting out a year? Who is his agent anyway, MasterP?

Until the opening ceremonies at Anaheim 1 start, dont count out CP. Perhaps he has decided to do all his prep and training out of the spotlight?
I still think Mitch has something up his sleeve, more than his arm, and we haven't heard the last of Christophe yet!

I can believe that. I would love to see a PC 450 out there.

Mitch could just give him his old PC 250F and he'd probably still be a podium threat in the 450 class.

Hopefully CP has left himself a plan B as a fall-back. Looking forward to seeing him out there.

Really? I talk to Pourcel the other day and he said they have been talking about it causually.

Maybe he's just burnt out from all the injuries and losing the championship twice in a row, and wants to take some time off?

That could explain his high asking price, maybe he figures if someone takes him up on it, then okay, but if they don't he gets some time off. Shoulder sep can be gnarly and take a long time to heal anyway, I know that first hand....

Seeing what a huge holeshot Barcia pulled on night 1 at Bercy I don't think a 250 would be competitive with the 450s. They could have fairly close lap times, but it doesn't matter if you are stuck mid pack at the start.
Musquin did manage a holeshot one night but the planets must have been aligned right.

There is a lot of dumb in this thread.

I include myself, as I actually read it.

Carry on.

the more realistic out come, since its so late in contract signings......
he will sit back n wait for an injury /open spot from an available team.lets face the facts, every yr. at least a couple top riders pull out from injurys.the pace is so brutal, they r pushing and taking chances.in the mean time pourcel can get his groove on from his own healed up self.

Best response I've read in this whole thread.

There will be no Monster Energy PC Kawi 450 on the line at A1. Pourcel is simply going to have to swallow his pride and take a giant pay cut. At this point, he'd be lucky to get half of what teams were offering him several months ago.

Pourcel has access to any bike color he wants.

If he logged in to vital right now with his phone and email and said he wants a factory bike and support, and 1st class accomadations and flight for all the rounds and a motorhome to chill out in he would have an offer from every color within an hour.

It's all about the salary, not the bike.

Something tells me Honda may not have withdrawn their offer they made him in the summer. I don't think Christophe is 100% ready to ride yet, so I doubt he's in a huge hurry.

I'm sure we'll see him.
