When you have one guy like Jeremy, or even 2-3 guys like Reed, Stewart and RC a few years ago, the companies betting on them had nearly a perfect 1 in 3 chance at the title, not to mention the bigger pool of money with which to bet.
Now you have a championship that is arguably worth less than before (as translatable to bike and product sales with the consumer index so low), a 1 in 5 chance at best at that championship, and less money to invest in the championship and you get talent like Pourcel on the sidelines.
It's just a fact of life. He seems to have accepted this and is fine with his decision to sit out and thus so am I. I would rather watch riders who really want to be out there anyway.
If he sits out completely it will probably go down as the most ridiculous shooting of the foot to ever happen in MX. Is he coming back in 2012 to demand his $2 mil again? After sitting out a year? Who is his agent anyway, MasterP?
I still think Mitch has something up his sleeve, more than his arm, and we haven't heard the last of Christophe yet!
"if pourcel doesnt ride, whoever wins the championship automaticlly gets an asterix"
This is just funny.
Hopefully CP has left himself a plan B as a fall-back. Looking forward to seeing him out there.
Pit Row
That could explain his high asking price, maybe he figures if someone takes him up on it, then okay, but if they don't he gets some time off. Shoulder sep can be gnarly and take a long time to heal anyway, I know that first hand....
Musquin did manage a holeshot one night but the planets must have been aligned right.
I include myself, as I actually read it.
Carry on.
he will sit back n wait for an injury /open spot from an available team.lets face the facts, every yr. at least a couple top riders pull out from injurys.the pace is so brutal, they r pushing and taking chances.in the mean time pourcel can get his groove on from his own healed up self.
There will be no Monster Energy PC Kawi 450 on the line at A1. Pourcel is simply going to have to swallow his pride and take a giant pay cut. At this point, he'd be lucky to get half of what teams were offering him several months ago.
Pourcel has access to any bike color he wants.
If he logged in to vital right now with his phone and email and said he wants a factory bike and support, and 1st class accomadations and flight for all the rounds and a motorhome to chill out in he would have an offer from every color within an hour.
It's all about the salary, not the bike.
I'm sure we'll see him.
