Tomac

Every serious Vet rider at the local track has a KTM factory edition. Tomac is just following suit 😂

One thing to look at is, it's alot easier to make a bike/rider look great when you are riding at a comfortable pace, it's when the entire 20 minutes you are racing at a pace you are not comfortable with. A1 will tell if the bike fits as well as it looks.

One race is early to say anything but he did look comfortable no doubt. I am interested to see it on the tighter slick tracks. But love to see it from Eli.

Well I am not one of them individuals. Jumping to conclusions early is always a recipe for the clap and as the great Jimmy Dugan once said “Avoid the Clap”

Confirmation from Eli, that blue pig is still a blue pig.  He was throwing that KTM around like a bmx bike.

He looked just like last year at WSX, when he won the championship.

Like the one he was riding with this weekend? No, I don't think he is.

Throughout Eli’s career, he never seemed to be happy until he got on the Yamaha, and more so now on the KTM. Just seemed so stressed about not winning when he should have won. After his Achilles injury, it feels like he is in it “for the love of the game”, and it’s great to see.

I think Eli is at his best with a wider bike that can handle his aggression. The YZ pre-2023 was wider than the current gen, and his best Yamaha year was his first year in '22. Even with that taken into account, Eli looked awesome in '25 SX before getting injured. I expect to see more of that in '26. Not necessarily confident that he'll win the title. He definitely could, but it'll be a tall task with the competition... Jett is superhuman, and I believe Sexton will still be a force on the Kawi. Webb should still be solid as well. But, I do think he'll have his usual spunk that keeps him battling up front. I really hope he stays healthy. Just thinking back to his battle with Jett at San Diego, as well as the insane battling between Jett, Eli, Chase, Webb, and Kenny at the Glendale triple crown... I want to see more of that!!

The width of the bike is irrelevant. The chassis is more stable and relaxed on the 22 Yz. The 23 Yz has a more aggressive chassis design that purposefully sacrificed stability and bump absorption comfort for sharper cornering and enhanced agility.

This is where things are complicated, you have to give here to  get somewhere else. Hopefully you find the right amount of comfort here and can negate the discomfort elsewhere. Unless you’re Jett, who seems to excel all around and that’s why we see what we see.

You don’t throw down scrubs like this if you’re not feeling super comfy. This move alone convinced me that Tomac feels just as good (if not better) on the KTM.

Much love to Tomac. He looks like he feels brave and comfortable for now. This could carry on or who could go the way some others have on these machines. It's racing.

Eli specifically commented that the width of the KTM helped him to better control the bike.

The bike already looks better setup than the YZ looked all year.

There is no question about his preference to the previous gen Yam.  The current Yam didn’t work as well for him, especially outdoors.

Now my take on that is, his setup preference is partly to blame.  I think the way he likes to set his rear sag and preload caused that bike to be more unpredictable than the previous gen.

It’s still really early, but I think maybe the KTM says bring it on!

Don't know if he will be better this year, but he sure looked like he had fun every time he was on the track the way he was throwing it around.

He has said in multiple interviews that he fits with  ktm ergos really well. The current gen ktm does not work well choppered out. Tomac likes the rear of the bike higher which suits this ktm.

I’m loving how comfortable Tomac looks….

But let’s wait until he puts some heat into that shock.

If he gets that uncomfortable feeling he will back it down.

I’m really hoping they got that shock figured out

While that is both Funny & True…and it really is…🤣

I’m pretty stoked to see Eli hanging it out and gettin’ a little loose with his new orange scooter! He let the orange dog eat as the the night wore on and the track got janky. This is surprising when I think about how he’s been known to get “conservative” under these same conditions these past few years. It’s almost as if…he’s got the confidence to…

Get Loose.

While we’re having some “old guy laughs”…I’m in my 60s…so, I love this stuff…

Isn’t it pretty damn interesting that we’ve got quite a few elder-statesmen that’re running around the track with the latest class of fast kids…and these old guys are still getting podiums, wins & championships.

Off the top of my head, we’ve got Webb as our current champ at 30. Kenny who’s still winning mains at 31. Malcolm who won his 1st main at 32. Eli at 33…who seems to be finding a new version of Beast Mode. And this list goes on…go take a look at how many of the 450 racers are over 30…it’s absolutely The Ultra-Vet Class and that’s pretty damn cool.

I'm in my later 60s now, so, like a fair few of us Old Bastards, I chuckle at the guys and racing  into their 30s as being 'old'.

I regard the fact that we are seeing riders Not  pack it in at the age of say, 27 ( coiinkedinkely the age that so many Rockers carked it ....☹️)

as a welcome 'maturation' of our sport.

Besides the " they only have to turn a throttle and sit there' crap, we've been seen by so many of the 'scared and  bored/ing class', as being a sport for 'idiot youths' to take part in.

It's Not - for the majority of us, it's our Life Sport. F**k all of those Ball and Stick sports, and to a lesser extent, 'Caged' Motorsports - well, Mainstream sports in general - for my part.

Mind you, there were plenty of Euros that had very long careers, spanning, at times, through 2 + decades, especially through the 60s into the 80s.

I'm No super fan of Any rider / riders, but I like seeing Tomac, and other 'Older' riders keep at our sport of Motorcycling, and, doing well. Mookie got his first 450SX win this year, at 32, and, this past weekend , at 33, he won Paris. And, you never know, he may, perhaps, have more to come next year, 10 years after his (2016?) 250SX series win.

Of course, there's a cadre' of people saying they are taking the youngsters rides - well, it's up to the 'youngsters', To Take their rides.
