Jlaw gets helmets painted by him and they came up with a limited $338 deal around christmas time. We don't know much past that. Both 53GRAFIX and Jlaw advertised it.

i just delt with something similar with "Xtreme Kolors." He made up for it by not charging me anything, but he had every excuse in the book and it took 8 months to get my helmet back. The quality is a little rough, but it should be alright from 10 feet. Haha. The split fire logo looks like it was printed on regular paper and stuck to the helmet. Not the best work, a lot of the lines are really rough.
People seem to have bad luck with helmets. I go through my local guy. He also does bike graphics. Hes very reasonably priced and quick at getting things done. This is the second helmet hes painted of mine.
Jesus, really leaning in hard on using his family issues as an excuse. Nothing wrong with doing everything you need to keep your family together. Just shut down your painting while you do it since you apparently cant do both. If you take a job in good faith you can't use your family as an excuse after the fact. Juvenile as hell to use it to guilt your customers into feeling bad for asking for what they paid for. "So sorry I was trying to hold my family together. Maybe you'll understand when you're my age." Well when others say they shipped a helmet to him in June and he competed it within 4 weeks but I had alread been waiting 7 months he looses literally all credibility.
Just to keep everyone informed on this dude. I played it nice and cool for 11 months. I guess for the past year I haven't understood that "life happens".
Instead of one of those cringe worthy replies, he could have made a shipping label and got the thing in a box on its way back. The guy is a complete narcissist apparently. He must think he is the only one on this planet who thinks they have to deal with problems. I would have called the cops and reported it stolen, with information on where it is. Obviously has no friends or anyone around him to help with his "massive struggles". Fuck, everyone gets divorced nowadays. My employer would laugh me out of the office for taking 2 weeks off to deal with something like that.
The fact is that it is all probably bullshit. I have seen this movie before, and they are all the same. He has no idea where your helmet is, and you are probably not getting it back. I feel for ya, that sucks big time.
Oh, and how the hell do you try and keep a floor over your head? Shouldn't that be a roof?
I asked privately to just have it shipped back regardless of condition multiple times. This could have all been avoided with 30 minutes of work. Additionally I was ridiculously nice the entire time just to get that response.
Like you said, Life sucks and we all go through it. If you own your own business you just gotta deal with it.

I don’t like this guy. Not because he’s a piece of shit, but because he’s just shitty all around. Don’t wince and use excuses. Just say, “I’m really sorry. How can I make it up to you?” My life fell apart.
If you want the daughter to be in your life, teach her to fucking paint! Show her what you do. It can be done together. It’s not all tea parties.
It's crazy to agree to a promo deal to paint by helmet at a discount for the exposure, just to use the discount as a reason why he can't do it, getting negative exposure in the process.

It's not a JLAW helmet, it was a "deal" the "painter" was giving. it was $338 for a custom painted helmet. But clearly buddy is a scumbag.
Dude I thought about this recently. I had an old Gibson acoustic sent off to a luthier for a refret, neck reset and bracing. He said it’d be ready probably in Nov. I check in Dec, he says it’s ready just waiting on the holiday shipping rush to die down. Crickets. Follow ups. “Doing final touch ups, should ship next week!” Nothing.
Finally I threatened to proceed with formal action in the state of Georgia for failure to return personal property entrusted for repair. I got the guitar back in March, and charged about $500 EXTRA because it was a Gibson and that was never specified.
Case came back with busted latch, original tuners were kept, and he polished the patina off the top. I’m still annoyed when I think about it. Can’t recommend “Overhaul Guitar” Evan Collins for guitar work
File a lawsuit in small claims court, if nothing else, you would expose his practices to a larger audience than Vital can provide. Love to see his face when he gets the subpoena. Not likely he would show up, but they may issue a Bench Warrant for him, and next time he is stopped for speeding he will be detained. Otherwise, sorry to say , you are likely SOL. Sorry for you having to put up with this idiocy.
