It's not that he did not give max effort , it's the fact there was none. Was the bike that bad at the practice track a few days before? Why not stop in mid race ( or 3 laps in ) to the pits to tweak what ever is making him feel like doing parade laps after lap 3 of the race..

MC didn’t roll around all year collecting a check. He retired after the bike tried to kill him all off season.
And by kill him, I don’t mean “the chassis was uncomfortable”. The bike was bogging in the transitions.

Hey MC did hit a hot lap at every sx race in ‘03 for his retirement tour, so maybe he did get collect a check to? 😂😂 but seriously, I was at one of the Anaheims in ‘03 that MC was doing his hot lap at, and there was a huge whoop section before the triple, and boy did that look scary for MC hitting those whoops lol he pulled a boner air off the triple after those 😂😂😂

I'm not sure how in the heck this got a bunch of likes. Some short memories out there.
First off, MC has earned the right to say anything he likes, and the sport is better for it. Secondly, he did make a mistake signing with ktm for 03, when he had other options on the table, so that part is on him. The bike though was nowhere near ready, and never became sx ready at all. A bog off a jump dislocated MC's hip. It was also two long years for GL trying to ride that thing, and his stock took a hit those couple seasons until a PC resurgence.

Refusing to discuss early exit is not high road.
Prado tried not to qualify, because Monster refused to discuss an early break up. Only after that attempt, was that discussion able to get going. Kawi claim they where ok with it, but who knows. Easy to put all the blame on Monster in that situation.
Please suggest the correct way if you dont agree with what Prado did, knowing the circumstances. And staying for 3 years riding it out, ain't it.

That’s a reasonable take but there could be other possibilities.
What if all the effort we saw from Kawi was only at the absolute insistence by Prado?
Chad Reed himself said publicly not all was roses on the Kawasaki side.
Why would a guy like Prado, a multi time GP champion, display such extreme behaviour?
If you find yourself in a highly undesirable situation and there’s no reasonable way out the you start considering unreasonable options. What Prado did many of us probably wouldn’t do but none of know the full picture.
Yes it’s possible Prado had a bruised ego and took an irrational course of action to minimise the damage to his reputation and it backfired spectacularly. It’s also possible the bike just wasn’t up to scratch and Kawasaki either couldn’t or wouldn’t do enough to get around that but simultaneously refused to entertain any discussion of ending the contract.
I don’t know the likelihood of either of those and I suspect it will take many years to learn the truth, if at all.

Yaa KTM promised him an all new bike with a linkage for 03 and didn’t deliver. In his book he also says Yamaha offered him less then half of the 750k he was getting so he felt disrespected and said no. People downvoting you must be thinking that 03 KTM 250 2 stroke was competitive like the KTMs are nowadays lol
