While I did not know Gary that well, I spent a lot of time at his shop (and money too!) over several years. At 68, I am beginning to understand my own mortality. I have ridden and raced since 1969 and I am so grateful to have met a lot of terrific people along the way in our industry. Rest In Peace Gary. You will be missed by all who knew you.

RIP. My Dad used to work on cars with him back in the day. Used to see Gary with Brian racing in Missouri on occasion growing up.

I got the pleasure of meeting Gary through a good friend and got to check out his shop once. Man, that guy loved machining triple clamps! RIP

Damn RIP, Jeff was my all time favorite rider when I was a kid. I met Jeff a few times at Perris when I was a kid in the late 90s and everytime he remembered me and my name. Shit was cool as hell. Thanks Gary for giving me my rider to cheer for!!!! RIP

I got to know Gary a bit, but not really well.
They would show up a Possum Hollow a lot in the early to mid 80’s.

I think Jeff’s lap times on his KX80 were faster than the 250 expert class.

Last time I got to visit with him was in OKC when they had the supercross race there.

Great guy.

My condolences to the family.

back in the early 90’s i lived by Gary’s shop in Indep MO.  As a hardcore motocross guy i enjoyed hanging around Gary he was always cool to me but my guess some of Jeff and Brians competitors, mechanics and team managers might not think so? smile.  Gary knew how to bullshiit and he knew his shiit on motocross bikes and a fast rider himself.  a couple stories he shared… Jeff was on team green i think? they wouldn’t share some of the bike setups that were dialed in for other riders.  prob linkage ratios or porting idk but he set Jeff's bike up with something good and they asked him and he said “oh no what comes around goes around” lol. i’m sure there’s more than a few stories like that.  Gary modified one of Jeff’s 80’s from a rear drum to a disc break before the factories had them.  Gary helped out local very fast guys like Mark Morris and Doug Stone.  one day they were loaded up leaving his shop headed to qualify for the Millville Nat.  Gary said… “boys don’t come back if you don’t make the show.”  that could be sarcasm but i think Doug or Mark would tell you he was serious. ha. Gary invited me to CO to ride singletrack.  One of those local fast guys who knew I was a slow amateur motocrosser told me… “don’t go with Gary he will NOT wait on you!” Smile  Before the 747 hit the circuit, local KCMO tracks expert class, I saw Gary make Jeff wait at the gatedrop so he had to chase down the pack and Fro did.  Gary had one of the coolest ever moto pics hanging in his shop from i think motodes in Australia.  It was Fro railing a sand berm. feet on the pegs, head over bars, leaning so far over his clutch side grip was draggin in the sand.  Gary was the Father of two very fast motocross racers, Jeff and Brian and also Paige one of the best lookin chicks on the planet.  May God Bless all of you. -peace out

I have a set of clamps on a xr600r. He was great to deal with, maybe 3 years ago or so? I thought it was neat to order stuff from Jeff’s dad. I just gave my FIL a xr650l windscreen he made as well…

As of a handful of years ago Doug Stone still hauls ass and was racing/winning off road races in Missouri. Believe he was on a Beta two stroke the last time I saw him.

RIP . March 4 I del to KC,Ks. @ pu in Kc. Mo. The day of rain Turing into a 70 mph blizzard. Going to Omaha 70 mph trk only went 62. The door. & window wasn’t on correctly, high wind noise. Add the high wind & it’s Real loud. Millions of black birds appeared flying left& rt & straight in front of me. I had 1 ear bud in for gm . And my phone rings it’s my oldest sister . I said I,m in high winds & hard rain turning into ice , speak up I can’t hear ya. She said I don’t want to hear it. Then says dad is dead kinda mean. I said what ? I just saw him 3 days ago & he was healthy etc. He had dementia & was in a nursing home . He choked to death while the millions of black birds flew crazy in front of me @ 5.28 pm. 5.28 I,m was being pulled out my Mom with a vise. 5.28 divided by 6= 88. The yr I started traveling. 5.31 was his tine of death my dob time. At the nursing home they couldn’t find him then they said he’s down the hall 2 girls working with him. I walk down the hall & he turns his head in the big wide hospis chair. And says oh hi Tony. He sensed me coming down the hall. We had a unique connection . Even tho I never looked at him  as a person to be like. Just too violent & crazy. As a little boy 4 to 10 yrs old I tried helping him & in , 88 & 2018. But there was no way to reach him. I Love him genuinely & the only family member that does. My much older sisters did not include me in anything at the funeral , including being able to speak.  On the dairy  farm I was his shadow. After the funeral I drove to Chicago & went back to work.  3 days later I had a dream. My older sister yelled Tony dads back. Like I m supposed to project her like I did as a boy. I see him in the barn at night he walks around a wall & bam he looked 35 yrs old. Then bam he’s in front of me & he’s 12 ft tall & his chest is 6ft wide going in & out 2 ft. And he has a Huge Ravens head.  I started yelling & pointing at him I tried to help you when I was a little boy & in 18 . His Ravens head turned into a 3 ft wide emotionless Ice cold killers face. . And you wouldn’t listen & now look at you . Your in Hell . Don’t ever come back ever again.  My Mom would tell you he was much worse then being in Holland rear the German border in ww2. Women & cihildren blew up train bridges. Retaliation was chopping you up so they lived under ground etc. being shot at by aircraft too trying to play outside. I basically raised myself as a kid. Jeff at 16 is on his own . 6+ hrs at a Target so far to unld in Va. ah
