He’ll be fine.  Once the piling on gets to a tipping point it will overshadow what Deegs actually did and then people will start feeling sorry for him.

it really is unfortunate. Kids used to be able to mow some yards and get an 80cc bike for $500. With the cost and injuries the sport IS dying and it sucks because, as you said, our fanbase will be people that have never experienced dirt bike riding...they'll just cheer for their fav IG celeb. Meh.

There's cheap used dirtbikes all over the place right now. It's a buyer's market.

One problem is no one likes understanding how things work and being their own mechanic anymore. Secondly, everyone thinks they need the latest and greatest and it's a waste of time otherwise.

Some of the most fun I ever had on a dirtbike was the one I SHARED with my brother, a 1988 KX80 (in 1998). After that I had a 1992 RM125 (in 2000). Both of those bikes were cheaply purchased by my dad via a relative. After that I went out and bought a used 2001 RM125, by borrowing money from an uncle and paying him back over a year from my minimum wage job.

Every one of these bikes forced me to learn how to work on my own shit (with my dad helping me figure it out along the way), and I loved every minute of it. Still do.

I can't help but smile on the rare occasion I see some teenagers show up to the track in a beat to shit truck with clapped out bikes in the back. All smiles, having the time of their lives.

Some people don’t care what others think, it’s all about them.  There is a hierarchy to motocross like many things in life.  Deegan is at a very high level in the sport……..liked or hated.  He very well may not give a hoot what people think.  He may or may not care what his parent think about how he acts, who knows.

I don’t think he’s going to change much over the years unless something drastic causes change.  Loose his ride, loose majority of his sponsors or has to set out a few races/better part of a season.  With that said, none of that will happen.

Yeah he may grow up some but my guess he will be a talented horses ass as long as he is around.

I think the biggest way he can right now is fix the collarbone, heal up for the week, then race mxon and do as good as he can there. Then next year win races and try his best to not play around with other guys like he did here and has in sx this year.

I think Haiden is pretty clear on what his “brand” is, so I don’t expect him to change anything anytime soon. It’s working for him so there’s no reason to change. Even if he were to get completely banned from the sport, he would be able to find a way to capitalize on something else.

Sure but at this point right now do you even think the majority of the people even want him to represent our country?

Does fan interest in the rider change the ama’s decision for selecting a rider? I thought the only thing effecting someone getting selected is their race results. Everyone wants herlings to go, but he wasn’t selected at the time because his results weren’t what they are right now.

I am not a Degan fan - but respect his skill.

But what degan did was common when it comes to wins and titles.  Do you remember:

Osborne on Savagty - Tomac on Dungey - Villapoto on Allessi at Glen Helen - not for a title but bad blood) - Allessi on Tedesco - and lots more...

Did he go overboard - yeah.  And I hope he learns from this.  but give the kid a break.

• Deegan was mathematically eliminated from the title unless he planned to grenade Hammaker, too (and he avoided being black flagged).
• Osborne & Savatgy was two turns from the finish line for a title, and Osborne was racing forward, not behind him.
• Eli & Dungey was for a title, and as we learned from Eli's tweet earlier today, a $2M bonus.
• RV & Alessi genuinely didn't like each other going back to their amateur days.
• Alessi & Hot Sauce is probably the closest example to Saturday, but Alessi still gets roasted for that stupid decision almost 20 years later.

It will take a full 180 degree turn with his  attitude  and a couple  of years  for him to recover  from this.  I doubt it happens.  He is now the heel of SX/MX.  He probably leans into that role even more.  Playing  that role will not produce  titles in the 450 class.

But, just lIke pro wrestling, a lot of money to be made playing the heel nowadays.   I guess some folks like the sport and some just like the show.

Exactly. All it takes is a flew glimpses on any social media platform to see that his following is still as strong as ever. Any negative comment has 10+ responses to it of people defending him.

After Dboy acted the clown, I've seen a lot of folks say they do not want him representing our country.  I totally agree with that even if it means we may not win.

Of course, you being the DBoy nut suckler you are seem to be fine with him being involved.  Sad for you, but there's no way DBoy is racing the MXON. He's had flimsy excuses to duck out the last 2 years so he's happy to be able to point to his shoulder and bow out again.

Yeah, I was a big Mike Alessi fan for years, going back to his amateur days. But after that ridiculous boneheaded move on Tedesco, I lost all respect for him as a professional racer. I would like to think he’s a different person now, so many years later, but that incident ruined his reputation.

Recover from ... "die hard dirt bike racing fans not liking his antics ?"  Yeah I think he'll be fine. If anything he just increased his bad boy rebel fan base. This isn't going to phase him one bit. He doesn't care about "diehard dirt bike racing fans". His fan base loved that shit. He's going to be more popular with them, and there's a lot of them. All this drama will disappear faster than an Alessi holeshot. 😆

For the record I'm a die hard dirt bike race fan and I thought it was 100% bullshit, but the truth is no one gives a shit what we think.😞😄 The least of which being him. This will make him more popular with his fan base. jmho 😎
