On the matthes show they said this week deegan isnt going to say anything about “the situation” and is just going to stay quiet. Thats weird because this is the one time he actually could talk shit and be 100% in the right. The difference is he was the one who got punked this time. He only ever talks shit after hes already won a race and is safe from criticism and is able to punch down at the guys around him.

-When he was struggling early in sx he was being super quiet and humble and was “just putting in the work”. Then he closes up on the points later on and eventually takes down davies and clinches early unsuspectingly and then gets up on the podium and itsthe infamous “I’m him and everyone can smd”.

-In mx toward the end of the season jo rips off a few wins in a row almost winning 3 in a row and deegans completely quiet and says “jo’s ripping”. Then after he wins and is safe and its “who wants to sit next to the king”.

RC and RV always say “he backs it up” but thats not really true. Backing it up would be talking shit before you win then going out and backing it up by winning. Instead deegan only has a habit of being quiet when hes down and then talking shit once hes already won and is safe from criticism. Something to pay attention to in the future as he moves to the 450. Something tells me if hes not winning right away suddenly hes gonna get quiet again and go back to humble deegs.

I imagine he is also playing a character, and deep down still has insecurities that all racers have, if he thinks he rode well and just got straight up beat by Joe, it has to be in his mind..

I also believe losing fuels him, like Ricky.. then after coming back and winning and reminds himself he is still on top of the game, then let the flood gates open with the cockiness.

It’s very easy to forget these guys are human

Great hypothesis there pop….you must have spent a lot of time theorising. Maybe deegs in going to let his riding do the talking come sat. You old codgers look so hard to find reasons to dislike the young buck.

I don't think anybody needs to look very hard.

He is just a kid, making bank and living his best life. Can you guys just stfu and embrace the racing and the storylines that go with it, ffs?

Don’t click the thread! What did you expect? With that title? All you have to comment is: leave him alone.

He is dishing it out so. He should be fine with receiving right? It’s called a taste of his own medicine.

But Maybe you are right: he is just a kid after all. So he should be treated like one.

Trust me I get it, but if hes not willing to go out on a limb and talk shit ahead of time then the narrative that he backs up his shit talking should come to an end. In order to back something up you have to do it ahead of time, if he wont do that then hes not backing it up. Hes just a general shit talker, and thats fine.

This week is a case in point with the exact same pattern. Hes being quiet during the week, not talking any shit, but if he wins the championship this weekend once its over and hes safe from criticism theres a 100% he talks maaaaad shit all over everyone.

I like the kid and hes good for the sport, but the backing it up part is just not the case. What he should do is talk mad shit before the race, back it up and win, and then be humble in victory. That would be a boss move.

Generally, anyone who tries to represent how confident they are with words, tends to suggest inside they are struggling with it.

Jett tends to personify the quiet champion. A significant contrast in attitude and presentation. True humility. He could talk the talk, but chooses just to rely on his skill to do it for him.

If you look at the people behind the figure and their personalities, you start to see similarities.

Just an opinion.

He’s got a championship to worry about next weekend, not stressing about Levi

Deegan devalues the sport.  Eli, 18, 4, 96, Shimoda, 51, 94, etc., have all worked very hard to elevate the sport to something decent and then monster truck boy comes along and takes a steamer on it.  It’s sacrilegious desecration.

I disagree with this !!
The sport always need a villain and Deegan has taken the reigns.
On top of that, he’s pushed these guys into having to go faster and that right there is good for all of us !!

I seem to remember that Bob Hannah played an excellent villain, one of the best. The feud between him and Howerton was great to watch and the stuff of legend...
I am just happy to watch the great racing!

If deegs doesnt win this championship its gonna be tough to pull it back in.

SX isnt as natural to him (he's amazing, but has sketch momoents) and the pressure could cook him. He's gonna be racing hymas or shimoda. Both can beat him if he's not on point or has some bad luck.

If he misses both 25 SMX & 26 SX- whats that look like, can he walk the walk and grind it out from being number 2? Or does he crack from the pressure and is just a top 10 450 guy?

This whole deal with deegs and kitchen is just proof no matter what he says or does the same anti deegan crowd will hate on him.

Possibly the second fastest rider in the world right now. He’s not worried about anything. If say he’s just waiting to win two motos and see where it shakes out.

Agreed, if anything, this should make everyone else doubt their ability to beat him. The fact he was able to ride as fast as he did with no front brake is incredible. Maybe I just haven't read enough of the other threads, but I feel that is being overlooked.

Ahhh yes, the 1.5 Million + people him and his dad brought to the sport definitely devalued it.

Why are you talking about Herlings in a Deegan thread?

I think they calmed him down after the race knowing he’s already on probation. Then come next week if he does anything hopefully it doesn’t look like retaliation. Just my .02.

Curious where you get that number. Their social followers?

I'm not the biggest Deegan fan. The kid's got serious talent, no doubt about that, but his cocky attitude just isn't my style. That said, a lot of people seem upset that he’s not throwing a fit after getting taken out. I’ll give credit where it’s due he took that takeout like a man and is not throwing a fit and seems to want to let what plays out in Vegas do the talking. It will be entertaining at least.

So everyone wants him to stop being a shit talker, and then he doesn't shit talk someone in a situation where it would be somewhat warranted, and you guys are mad? So weird.
