Ping and GL shit on Lewis for his tone and questions during his Prado interview.
It was personal but seemed benign enough to me but Lewis took exception to the things they said.
Lewis asked Ping if they could talk privately to iron it out.
Ping called Lewis and proceeded to double down on his insults
Somehow Matthes got involved
A barrage of insults then erupted on GLs twitter. They were mostly directed at Matthes with a few hurled back at GL. This was maybe the most embarrassing part.

The beef from GL and Ping to Big Lew is really odd. He provides great journalism on the sport (I really like the MXGP pod), and I've always found him super witty.
But for the beef from GL to Matthes, there really was no reason for Steve to throw shade at GL in the 7/24 Blair Matthes Project pod when the question of why no one has taken #8 since him. I'm not saying he needs to start being friends or show any appreciation to him again, but the added name-calling was not needed instead of just acknowledging he was the last racer to use it. I'm a big fan of almost all his content, but time for him to start taking the high road on some things because him doing things like that doesn't make his hands clean in all of this.
The GL and Matthes RECENT beef stems from GL trying to pile on when Gypsy and Hopper went after Steve for something. GL and Steve got into it on twitter after that because GL kept calling him a fat liberal and saying he sued Yamaha. Not defending Steve’s choice to blast GL multiple times publicly, but it’s definitely not like he’s just going at GL randomly for no reason.
This is ridiculous....It wasn't an opinion it is fact that GL his dad and uncle own the dealership, His dad and uncle run the business day to day....I made no statements and no opinions about anything other than that fact....I made zero statements or even speculated about the chain of command or who makes or doesn't make decisions...just the simple statement that GL's dad and uncle run the day to day business.....period....
I never said anything about Lewis. I think Lewis is awesome. Especially those with Chase. How did you drag Lewis into this when my comment was regarding Mathes?

I havent been paying attention to much of the details here but I heard Lewis on his LVK podcast. Ping pulled the "You weren't pro. You cant be a real mx reporter" card? Cmon. The ole I'm faster than you argument. Weak. Tons of journalists in other sports weren't pro. Mx is somehow special?

He has a fairly decent relationship with the GP guys. Maybe people forget he has been friends/talking to them for years. He knows his relationship with them. That is why he would of did the interview that way. Do him and Prado not have a good enough relationship for it. We don't know

To clarify, my comment has nothing at all to do with Lewis, he's one of my favorites and I think he does great interviews and it seems like he has a great rapport with riders. I do not feel the same way about Matthes.
