I loaded up a bunch of photos into my photo gallery http://www.pbase.com/thomasef
I took way too many photos as usual, it might take you a while to get through them.
Here are a few larger photos too, I'll add more later. Enjoy. If they don't open full size (1600x1067) when you click on the photo click the link under each photo.

Those Honda wheels looks really vibrant. Very cool.
Great pics. Not far from my house. Sorry to say I never made it there but just down the road from there was the only National MX in RI. 1978 and wow it was cool.

Sure. Not to hijack thread anymore than I did already. Local ski area, weather forecast was rain. Remember driving with my dad and a friend. Probably 30 minute drive from our house. Rain all the way there. Must have rained in most of the state like the forecast said as turnout was low. Well happy to say no rain there. Was amazing to see guys i read about in magazines racing in person. It’s Rhode Island so even though a ski area not a lot of elevation change like you’d see at a ski mountain. I think even Charlemont race in NESC or a waterboro, Maine race had more elevation change. Remember hearing and smelling the bikes go up the whooped up hill where we stood. 1978 the one and only year. Maybe if the forecast was sun and the day was dry everywhere else there would have been more years races there. Ski area closed some time after. But I forget how many years after.
Someone posted a couple videos.

Amazing abilities
I was there on Saturday. Have competed in trials on and off over the years in NETA and NATC (when it comes thru)- super fun to see the world-level-pros.
There were some really old folks on the walking loop navigating slippery rocks though - felt bad for them! Walkin' trials.
Even if you don’t ride trials, any two wheel enthusiast should make an effort to see the World Trials Championship at some point. Video doesn’t come close to doing it justice.
I’ll never understand why trials isn’t more popular in the US. Very humbling, but great fun. You learn a lot of things that will absolutely improve your skills on any other type of motorcycle. And the trials crowd is usually one of the nicest you’ll meet.
For those of us in the US, we finally have an American rider in Europe who has both the skill and the desire to make it to the top level in WTC . Ryon Land, from Kansas, is currently leading the Trial3 (125cc) points in the world championships. Hopefully this creates more interest in the sport stateside.
No NESC guys in the top 20, I'm surprised.
I love how yhe fans applaud by clapping after each rider completes a section, regardless of score or ability. A very gentlemanly event, almost like Tenniss or Golf.
None in the 500 class but a few in the 125 class, Mike Guerra was 3rd, Steve Morrison was 14th and Jim Meenan was 19th. Plus Richard Coon raced the NESC once in a while if my memory is correct.
Pit Row
Humbling is a great way to put it. After years of wanting one, I finally pulled the trigger on a nice used Sherco. It is crazy how hard it is.
Great pics. I would love to have seen that. Was thus like the USGP for trials? Are there any competitive US guys? Any other Non Euro nationalities represented?
These guys are incredible.
You’re totally right. Most people who ride other stuff don’t want to “start over” again and be humbled like that. Gotta check your ego at the door and enjoy the learning process. I saw Keefer ride Clubman at a National at Donner, for a Dirt Rider article. It was a looooong, tough day for him.
I’ve never officially met you, but I’ve seen you do some pretty rad stuff back in the day at some NATC events. Once at TTC, I was next after you in line for a section, one of the checkers asked if you had anyone spotting you for this massive up… you replied, “nah, and if I don’t make it, it’ll be a good show for everyone watching.” Lol … made me laugh!
Yes, this is the USGP of trials. There were a couple of Americans in the Trial2 class, and a couple women in the women’s class. Trial3 (125) is being led by an American, but that class didn’t participate at this round unfortunately. The recently crowned US National Champ is from Spain and rode the top line in RI. The top American Pro rider (Pat Smage) is phenomenal and could be a top tier guy on the world stage, but from what I’ve been told doesn’t enjoy overseas travel. He stopped doing WTC events and has focused on the US series for several years now.
Rumor is that this event will return to the US in two years. Fingers crossed!
These aren't the drunken hooligans you see regularly at MX and SX races.
Wow, how did I miss those! Thanks
What ever came of Toni's minder or teammate knocking that large boulder out of the course and it rolling down and nearly flattening people?
Here is a funny thing that happened at the Saturday Podium ceremonies , when they were spraying the champagne
something hit me on my trigger finger taking photos of them , I was pretty far from the podium too, my buddy standing
next to me picked up the cork and gave it to me, It was from Gabriel Marcelli's bottle. Its my souvenir from the event
Well ,that and a bunch of photos.
Too bad it wasn't from Sunday when he won.
He is aiming right at me.
The culprit. LOL
I love it! I also compete in trials. One thing I think folks don't realize is how accessable it is. The different classes run different lines and often sections, such that regardless of skill level there's a course that's suitable.
Great stuff Tom.
I went a few years ago to Arcadia for that, long time ago they had it at that Berry Farm here in South Kingston.
Amazing to see close up how skilled they are.
Thanks Donn! Long time no see, the only other trials event I have seen was the one in the same place in 2015, photos from there are in my gallery, you just have to scroll down the main page a little bit, I did see a couple trials demos at a couple MX events by Geoff Aaron.
At the long gone Rocky Hill State Fair (Rhode Island) the trials guys rode over an old car and smashed the windshield with their rear tire. Another guy jumped a CCM Mx bike over the car and we had a little flat track race. Great times.
Post a reply to: Non Moto but pretty cool, Checkout my photos from the World Trials in RI
