Goggles

I currently have a set of 100% that I wear but they push down on my nostrils making it hard to breath. I'm a big guy and I'm sure that's the issue but are there any brands that are slightly smaller in size you could recommend?

IDK man, I have the same problem with every goggle I've worn lately. I used to love the old-school Spy Alloy goggle for that very reason (they were small) but unfortunately they're all gone by now.

I hate to say it because I know better, but the cheaper EKS goggles have a smaller frame top to bottom. They eliminate this problem for me. Try their “Beer” goggles. This is the frame I am talking about. They do not say Eks on the band.

I have had the same problem with most brands. I came across a thread in here a while back showing how wide the nose port is on the new Scott Prospect 2.0 and decided to give it a try. It solved my problem

Had the same issue with 100% goggles and 6D helmet. Switched to Scott Prospect 2.0 (found another post saying scott prospect worked better with 6D than 100%) and that solved my issue. The Scott Prospect 2.0 have a really big nose box compared to other goggles I've used. Its more of a U shape rather than a V shape

Learned my lesson though. Never buy a new helmet without trying it with goggles on first.

I have the same issue... what i do that helps is cut the foam on a angle where it touches my nose,

this helps and there is still enough foam remaining for good dust protection...

Came here to say what both you and Falcon said. I know it won't go over well, but EKS is the only one I've found that doesn't push down on my nose nearly as bad as the rest

I’ve got one ride on some 100% and thought the same as soon as I put them on, can you get around it with a mod or do you think it’s the frame shape?

Love this thread because I have the same issue with goggles pinching the top of my nose. Best goggle I had for this was an old pair of Fly goggles that actually said SCOTT on the foam, LOL, but those literally fell apart from too much use! My EKs and 100% goggles do the same thing, as do about every other goggle I have purchased over the past 5 years. I'd love to know what model those Fly goggles were because they were by far the most comfortable goggle I've ever worn.

100% goggles have that raised part top center that amplifies the problem.

Scott (owners) is out of MX/Enduro so i would be careful investing in them. They have already started winding down and informed resellers and distributors since a few months back.

Unless someone buys the business and continue.

Leatt have one of the heavier Goggles so stay away from them. Had the exact same problem you describe. Was bulky when fitted.

Wouldn't wear these if they were the only goggle on the planet.

Every pair of goggles I had did that until at the age of 50 i finally realized that my helmet fitment was the problem and it was pushing my

 goggles down.

I've been using the Astars Supertech goggle this summer and they are a little shorter than the Armega's I was using.  This gives a bit of a gap between the frame and the shell of the helmet so not only do I get a little airflow up there I also don't have the shell pushing the goggles down creating more pressure on my nose.  The foam is a bit more contoured around the nose as well.

I think EKS only fit people with their heads so far up their ass that they cant see anyway.

Helmets to big, that's what's pushing your goggles down. Haven't you ever heard (Tighter is better)

Lol! I hear you though. That’s why I was hesitant to say anything in the first place.

I’d get rhinoplasty before buying eks goggles.

I have the same issue. I got a pair of oakley airbrakes and they fit so much better around the nose. The whole goggle lens, frame, and system are phenomenal.

That said, I almost immediately went back to my 100% armegas because of the strap that holds the oakleys on your helmet. The thing is much smaller than the 100%'s and no matter how much I tighten the strap they are incredibly loose.

Has anyone else dealt with this and oakley airbrakes?

Last Sunday at the track I had to keep pushing my helmet up.  Googles pushing down on my nose (100%), kinda hard to breath.  Might help if I’d tighten my helmet strap some lol.

I’m like most and have a few pair of googles.  I think I have 3 pair of 100% got on sale, one or two pair of Leatt I don’t wear.  Also have a couple of old Fox main googles in the gear bag.  The Fox Main are a tick smaller and don’t seem ride down on my nose as much, but I seem to be able to see better out of 100%, lens really clear.

I’ve kicked around getting a new helmet, something other than Bell that may have more Google room.  I have a Leatt 3.5 or 4.5 helmet I got on close out for a spare but it’s not all that comfortable compared to my Bell.

Surely if your goggles are moving that means you’re helmet is moving aswell? If you’re a bigger guy it might be a option to look at a premium fox helmet where you can customise the cheek pads etc to get the right fit, Also do you have the goggles strap adjusted properly, so that the foam makes a seal to your face? Another factor is that a premium goggle has a lot more flexibility to fit with the better quality foams. Through experience I was always a guy who was real picky about goggle fitment to the point I would check my strap adjustment on the line, this issue is obviously having a big impact on your riding experience otherwise you wouldn’t have posted. Perhaps find a local dealer who sells premium brands and spend some time tailoring a set up that suits you

I had the same issue and I've switched to Oakley Airbrakes which seem much better. I'd also highly recommend those nose strip things that widen your nostrils, helps you breathe much easier.

My helmet is a Fly Formula CP. The goggles definitely feel like they are squeezed in at the top hitting the helmet and it pushes down on my right nostril damn near closed

Do you feel like you are wearing your helmet pulled down on the front to help keep pressure away from your cheeks (I’m saying this as you said you were a bigger guy) like initially when you put it on you feel like you’re biting the inside of your cheeks so you tend to pull it down to release pressure?

I was having the exact same issue. Swapped from a alpinestars sm10 that was too big, to a 6D and this solved my issue with air brake goggles.
