I got to the bottom of some 'hot topics' with Eli and Jorge today. Now, I'm much smarter for it!
Honestly, props to them both for answering honestly in what are clearly tricky circumstances.
Nice work with the banner along the bottom. Looks great.
Really great interview! My takeaways.
Eli - had to take some radical steps on setup to be more competitive and missed the mark, not much time in MX on this chassis but for SX it's dialed.
Jorge - It's the bike and I can't tell you when it will be better, that's up to the team.
Jorge seems delusional.
Eli takes so much accountability.
Great interviews!
Sheesh jorge. We all know he's better than what he's currently showing. But damn it's getting hard to listen to his interviews. It was similar in 2022. To be fair he did figure it out then though

Good interviews I don’t think Jorge knows what to think of you. 😂
Lewis you should corner Reedy, he’s got to have ridden Prado’s bike right? He’s usually not shy with giving his opinion and knows what a competitive bike is.
I find Jorge kind of annoying. I started as a big fan, the more I see of him the less of a fan I am.
Damn Lewis, I thought you were going to have Prado in tears. Feel bad for him, hope he figures it out soon…
Hammaker riding with tibial plateau fracture is wild..... usual treatment even for lowest classification of these is immobilization and either non weight bearing or partial weight bearing for 8-12 weeks...... meniscus tear probably in same location so there goes any cushioning that might have been there.... it might be non displaced right now but do not see this going well.....
Same here. He has disappointed me more off the bike than on.
Can’t listen to him bitch about the bike any more. Lost all respect.
I will support the guy. If youre not comfortable, you're not comfortable. Id rather have a guy being honest then anything.
Look at Tomac, his set up is off too.
Like many people on Vital say, if youre off 1% on set up, thats 4 seconds a lap.
Maybe this is good for Kawi. When was the last time they won an outdoor race?
I still bleed green, I just had my blood drawn last month and the medical staff was baffled bybthe color.
That interview just put fuel on the Jorge fire. It’s unfortunate, but “I know what I can do and the bike is slow” is not doing him any favors.
Prado clearly isn’t happy. What is the actual chance he splits with Kawi at end of the year? Or is it just not possible due to contracts
Everytime he says “if the bike were good and things were good I’d be winning.” I think he sounds like an overinflated jerk. Peak Prado is obviously amazing AND we have no idea how that actually matches up to peak Lawrence brothers or peak Sexton or Tomac.
I was thinking the same thing. I do believe that the Kawi set up is a ways off however. Its been a ling time since they have been near the front on that bike.
The whining about the bike is annoying, but it's also bullshit. MXGP guys he used to beat are beating him on nearly stock bikes. Mitchell Harrison also on a kawasaki has beaten him. Barcia coming off of injury on a bike that he doesn't love that has put him on the ground this year is beating him. If you're getting 3rd every week and you want to say the bike is the reason you're not winning, OK..... but the bike isn't the main issue here.
This season is a total bust already. Kawasaki has two more years of this unless he bails. After that interview they should just park the bike and tell him he can race again when he's happier with the bike. Coddling him and putting up with this obviously isn't working, maybe he needs to be humbled a little. If he gets pissed and leaves.... probably a win for kawi....
I do feel like Jett holds concern regarding Prado because a couple times he has been very quick to get to the lead and drop Jorge when Jorge has gotten a good start. I think Jett knows that Jorge is capable of. Jett seems much more relaxed around most everyone else.
Pit Row
I can absolutely see a mutual parting of the ways. But I don’t see it if Jorge doesn’t have another clear option.
None of us really know. I guess we will see when Sexton hops on the thing next year.
I honestly think the bike is a bit behind.
Put Prado on one of Mitch’s 250s for the weekend and let’s see how he does, fuck it. It seems Prados ready to go and is just waiting on the team/bike to catch up to him. I guess he still has that confidence after all these ass whoopins which is good to see.
Prado is definitely lost. You can see it in his eyes when asked the question 😒
To be clear: I think Jorge was 'that way' with me because he's comfortable with me.
We sat and talked for like 90 minutes after press day, so no issues.
Continue to ask intelligent questions and gauge the mood of the rider who you are interviewing and how much pressure you can apply and you will soon be known as the best moto journalist in the biz....which you are already near the top.
And when i say "pressure", you obviously can tell that it was applied to Jorge at the end of his interview. Perhaps you went too far(in his view) and he will not do interviews going forward?
Nos vemos en España Jorge, pues hay mucho que desear cual es mejor de USSA. Chao!
It wasn't that long ago that Masterpool ran up front on a stock kx450. I think there is more to it than the bike.
No.No.
Jett is not worried about Prado.
Wow good stuff, very telling situation with prado I hope they figure it out.
And Ryder D I hope he shows his potential, can't help but think him getting on a different team will unlock that potential.
So Prado says the bike isn’t where he needs it, and everyone here says it’s annoying and he’s making excuses, but Tomac says the same thing in the same interview and not a word…….
Excellent interview with Prado.
