In 2007, when the MXoN was held at Budds Creek, many were anticipating a Tony Cairoli-versus-Ryan Villopoto matchup in the MX2 class—especially since they battled the year before in England—and this time it would happen in front of the American fans at Budds Creek, Maryland. But in the days leading up to the race, Cairoli’s bike was held up in U.S. Customs for unexplained reasons.
At the very last minute, promoter, Jonathan Beasley, was able to get Cairoli’s crated motorcycle released. After it was released, the Customs officials explained that they held the bike because one of the mechanics apparently slipped a giant cheese wheel into the crate with the motorcycle so the Italian team could enjoy their favorite cheese!
Cairoli’s game was thrown off by the whole fiasco because they never got the bike setup properly and he never really looked comfortable that weekend.

Cheese us christ.
I love that these guys assumed they couldn't find any decent cheese in the US, so they tried to smuggle in their own.
Was it Gulloid in an interview with Lewis, talking about how American bread is shit and that he couldn't wait to get back to Europe for proper food?
I half way want to visit Europe some day just so I can compare bread and pasta.
I never liked any bread in the USA...for me it smelt weird.
Wish ya'll could try our bread here.

Bread and cheese I am 100% on board with this opinion on. What is eaten here in America and called bread is terrible. The cheese here isn’t terrible, it just lacks flavor. A mature cheese in the US really isn’t very mature. Putting a wheel of cheese into a bike crate is a bit extreme though
If you are buying bread from walmart, then yes, garbage…. Need to find local bakeries that make real bread….same with beer….you can drink bud lite or coors but much better quality with a local brewery….
I'll agree on the bread. It's mostly due to how flour is treated and "enriched" with a bunch of bullshit to make it "healthy". This is why you hear people say that they can go to Europe/other countries and eat bread/pizza/pasta and not feel like shit.
That’s pretty much all of our food here, it’s a whole topic but the amount of chemicals and lack of nutrients in most of our food compared to Europe is appalling.
I use a bread machine and make my own. Then you know what’s in it.
As mentioned, you have to find real bread based on good wheat and none of the crap. Not easy to find in US. MAHA.
I'm heading to Italy next week so I'll let you know haha! I have been to europe before and the food is definitely different but I don't remember if I had pasta last time but I'll be all about it on this trip.
Depends on the region too. I grew up in Wisconsin eating bread from local bakeries. Later I moved to the south and the bread is disgusting. In fact, they don’t even have bakeries in the south (at least not compared to the Midwest). That leaves the grocery stores as the only option. It sucks. Not even worth eating.
if thats not the most italian thing ive ever heard i dont know what is
You mean stripping all the nutrients out and replacing them with sugar, salt and chemicals isn't healthy?
Lol...
This has reached epic thread hi-jack levels....and I love it.
MAHA
Bread from the grocery store wont get moldy for a month. Holy preservatives Batman
My son and I were walking in from the campground when the state police-led motorcade with the bikes in the container came flying in, lights and sirens a-wail in’. Wasn’t til later that we figgered out what all the hubbub was about. That was an awesome weekend.
Now that I'm thinking about it, over a twenty year span never had a bad cup of coffee in Europe. Couldn't comment on the cheese.
Pit Row
I thought this thread was going to be about stock KTM wheels when I opened it.
But seriously, a few years ago, was traipsing through the village of Asiago in Italy. Yes, that's right, the famous cheese place. Stopped in a local eatery and what did I see on the ceiling? Maybe Tony gave them this in thanks for the cheese wheel? 😅
Sick!
Speaking of wheels didn't he lose a heap of spokes in his front wheel in the second moto and DNF'd.
So, your saying we should go to SA to get bred??
Ohhh, bread…
Just a random thought...
Can the powers that be pump all these bread preservatives into my liver so I can drink as much as i want?
😂 😂 😂 Just embalm my whole body with an IV of it so I dont age at all
Yep, my first time in Chicago I stayed in an apartment, came back for work a month later and got the same apartment and a loaf of bread I’d left in a high up cupboard was still there and still edible.
I grew up eating bread my mom made from flour she ground from wheat we grew. My friends at school were always offering to trade things for my sandwiches, and I often took them up on it. I had no idea how good I had it. I remember asking if I could have a ham sandwich on “regular bread” like my friends had. Stupid kid, I was.
Especially Wonder Bread. That stuff lasts forever.
You want bread??? 3 dollars!!! ….. no soup for you!!
I mean you say he NEVER really looked comfortable but
Haha nah just jokes but this is an all time pic
I think he missed quite a bit of practice due to that.
And, in Both Motos, he had front wheel damage / front disc damage - one from Mackenzie (?) jumping short / slowing down over a jump, and, either a similar thing / or getting hit, in a corner, in the other Moto.
AC had several years of the worst bad luck at the MXDN - things so often didn't work out for him. But, he'd come back, and have another go, no matter what, and, it worked out well for him and his Teams, a few times.
I'm being silly ( well, Very Bloody Silly ) , I know, but it would be neat to see him back at the Des Nations again, this year.
I daresay it will be between Adamo, Lata, Zanchi for 250s, and Bonacorsi, , Forato or Guadagnini for 450s / Open as the blokes for consideration for the Italian Team.
