Hard to image what his parents are going through, RIP. Are the reports on social media true he was landed on by a lapper?
Aidan Zingg, Rising Motocross Star, Dies at 16 Following Mid-Race Accident
Whoever runs the Dirtbikelover accounts should be ashamed of their so-called reporting. What they posted is completely false and has already been reposted by big accounts like TMZ and People. If you're going to cover something this serious, at least make sure you have the facts straight. RIP AZ39
slower bikes is the answer?
My good buddy's 19 year old son was killed riding a 125 Two-Stroke on the Vet Track at a local So.Cal. facility.
I've come to understand that desperation to control fate leads to all sorts of collateral damage in our lives. When your time is up, your time is up. None of us knows that assigned day, and none of us can add even a hour to our time. That's a hard to accept fact for many, a sense of being in control feels good.
I feel terrible for those kids of yours, knowing the positive impact motorcycles and riding motorcycles can have on a young person's life. Particularly when they have a parent that appreciates motorcycles.
Here's hoping they live long, healthy lives, and find something deeply rewarding that is very, very safe with little risk for them to be passionate about.

Now that there’s supposedly been false details reported about the crash, what really happened? Not all of us are on social media, so if anyone knows what really happened please let us know.
RIP
R.I.P Zingg
Motocross is still so popular in our country that this is news that gets into the Belgian newspaper websites.
That Dirtbikelover is the absolute trash of media. It sucks they have the following they have, but I hope people look passed their trash.
RIP
Heartfelt condolences to the Zingg family. What an absolute tragedy. It reminds me of another young man who died as a result of injuries he sustained at the Mini O's about a dozen or more years back: Jantz Grodzicki. I was the race team coordinator for a big SoCal dealership a few years before that, and he was one of the shining stars of the team when he was on 85s. I'm sure someone has a similar story about Aidan.
This sport does suck sometimes.
I was about 12 and my friend had an older brother that was about 16. They moved him up on a 250t and I remember my dad saying "He's too young for that bike!"
Was sitting on my pit bike and the race started at Rio Bravo. He was in about 8th place for his first race on a 250, he swapped hard and smashed directly into a huge oak tree. All the racers went by and I ran to him. I'll never forget looking down at his open face mask (that was all the rage in the early 80s.). He had his goggles on and his face guard....but blood was pouring out.
EMS threw me outta the way, but you better believe that image is fried into my mind. He passed 30 minutes later. His family recovered and that friend has a huge tattoo of that cousin on his bike. I hate this sport somedays.
My deepest most heartfelt condolensces to the Zingg family. You'll be in my prapers.
Thoughts and prayers to his family, cant even imagine what they are going through
My son raced Mammoth a few times on a super mini, They always had the worst flaggers , and that was always a concern. Not sure if 2x promotions still promotes this race, but I have seen some bad stuff their due to complete lack of flaggers, or having a kid/inexperienced person be a flagger. We must make promoters step up to the plate, Of course all accidents cant be avoided, but a lot can with a competent flagger.
RIP. May his family find peace over time.
My original post was a knee jerk reaction to the news. I do believe there is a way to be more safety conscious in the sport without ruining it. I get that anything can happen on any motorcycle but I do think the bikes have out ran the available protection. I raced for 20 years on and off. I have some amazing memories as well as some terrible injuries from the sport. My daughter rode for a while and ultimately lost interest. She’s more into MTB fishing and hunting. My son is to young but will get a stayc for Christmas. I plan on getting him into oval track kart racing. I’d prefer him have a roll cage. I’m not raising my kids to be pussies but I also won’t put them at an unnecessary risk for a sport that ultimately leads nowhere for most. I’d rather spend that time in archery and fishing as both of those are great hobbies that have scholarships available. I love moto but the cost and the risk isn’t for me or my kids.
Im with you. I raced as a kid and then got back into in my late 20’s and 30’s.
My kids had bikes and my son still rides. He has kept his promise that he wont race moto but he does some hs occasionally.
When I read these stories of fellow riders getting hurt bad or passing away from a crash, I do question why I even follow the sport.
Then we wonder why this guy isnt faster or this other rider seems to be over the hill. These riders know the risks and riding a bike they are not comfortable on and going full stop adds to the risk factor. Or that they know their limit.
When professional riders have life changing crashes it should be a wake up call. Everyone who ride will eventually have some sort of injury.
Some crashes dont seem so dangerous yet were. Some crashes we wonder how they walked away.
But why is this sport that can be so nasty still keep me interested after 50 some years? I have more respect for the riders today than I ever have.
"I've come to understand that desperation to control fate leads to all sorts of collateral damage in our lives."
Well put.
I'm with Gate drop on this one. Young men have been getting killed riding motorcycles since they were invented. It's inherently dangerous like so many other things in life.
My heart goes out to everybody who has lost a loved one in any kind of accident.
Absolutely. I think the risk is a big part of the addiction. Just like rodeo. I just hate hearing about things like this happening. I’m devastated for the family
Pit Row
My wife doesn't follow US amateur racing but read the story's and replies about Aiden. This one has had an effect on her due to the amazing positive replies about Aiden.
Godspeed bud. This sucks.
It's very simple. When someone crashes at a higher speed, the injuries are more severe. There's good reason why literally all motorsports except Motocross manage speed by periodically reducing maximum displacement, etc... Nascar isn't slow, Indy isn't slow, yet they manage the risk.
Motocross does the opposite, and just keeps raising the bar. I'm not suggesting that we make bikes slow, but we can reduce the severity of injuries, and stave off regulators getting involved, by following the other motorsports lead.
It's time.
Kids have passed away racing mini bikes. It’s not that simple. Riding dirt bikes is dangerous and racing dirt bikes is very dangerous. Amateur racing needs to be fixed somehow. Track safety seems to be the issue more than horsepower. But I can be wrong. It’s a horrible situation. We all want the same things for this sport.
Listening to Aden Keefer’s account of the race and accident, he won the moto and is good friends with Zingg, it didn’t sound like it was a high speed section. He did say he came around twice and saw Aiden laying motionless for 2 full laps. There’s a woman who is posting on Facebook that was at the scene and has pretty damning timestamps of the time it took to attend to Aiden and ultimately stop the race. This doesn’t mean anything could have been done to save him but throwing out blanket statements about bike speed or anything else without even knowing the cause of the fatality seems like a knee-jerk emotional reaction to just do something.
Lawyers suck. Just had this pop up in my reels, and theyre using this accident to market their business. As if insurance for tracks wasnt hard enough to get. Beyond sick for this law firm to use this tragedy.
That account, DirtbikeLover, and the individual behind it, no matter the social media venue, whether FB, IG or X, is a notorious HACK. All they have done and continue to do, is take other's stories and either regurgitate them and/or alter for dramatic effect. Nothing original. Nothing unique. Never their own...Ask VURBMOTO & Troy Dog. @Darksidemx3 consider writing about that...hack accounts that rebrand others' stories as their own.
Prayers to the Zingg family. There is nothing more painful then seeing parents lose a child. This one hits close to home as this July marks 14 years sense my younger sisters accident at the Ponca City national in 2011. The strain and hurt this puts on a family is immense. Please keep this one respectful 🙏🏻
I am so sorry for your loss - I cannot even fathom what these last 14 years have been like for you and your family.
I just read the Social Scoop that is dedicated to him: https://www.vitalmx.com/features/memory-aidan-zingg-social-scoop-fmf
He was just 7 months older than my son. Man, that's tough to process.
Condolences to all family and friends. Rest in Peace Champ.
The NHRA reduced the track from a quarter mile, (1320 feet) to only 1000 feet many years ago when the nitro dragsters and funny cars got too fast. They have also reduced the percentage of "Nitro" in the fuel itself. They used to run 100% nitro. They've reduced that, and many things. Then technology catches up and they make rule changes again.
