Could this be the turning point for prado

Today he looked waaaaay better. He looked racey, no more sluggishness, elbows up, over the front of the bike, driving forward. Looked like a different guy and like he belonged. He got two great starts, and was running in third for a lot of the first moto and second for most of the 2nd moto. Plus he stayed in front of tomac until he crashed in both motos. He actually stayed with jett for a bit early and then once jett got away he still was solidly in front of eli. Thats no joke.

As a multi time champ whos always won everything I’m sure his confidence has been shot lately. Just the fact that he was running the pace of those guys up front will put that seed in his mind again that yea I do belong up here. I’m not saying its all going to be smooth sailing from here on out, but I think the most important part is today he learned to believe again. It had kinda looked like a train wreck, but all of a sudden they have something to build off of and are showing clear progress towards the goal. Just to know theyre going in the right direction finally is going to be huge.

I’m sure theres going to be more ups and downs but the seed has been planted again. Plus sometimes you need the really bad days that way it makes it that much more rewarding when you turn it around. If/when he can get his next win after going through some of the darkest times its going to feel like the best win of his life.

I think he would have had a massive confidence boost if he didnt crash in BOTH motos. I could see this just being more fuel for the bike not being up to his standards.

One thing that is true is prado has raced at red bud before for mxon and went 6-6. So coming off a good race today and now going to a track hes familiar with is a pretty good setup to get some momentum going imo.

I think running up front in both motos is going to help his confidence a lot. I suspect he'll do well again next week, too, since he has experience at Red Bud.

Maybe it’s 6 weeks of getting his assed dragged on moto media…

He looked GREAT today. So Euro and smooth in the sand. It was fun to watch.

Best wishes Jorge. Lots of Americans rooting for ya bud. 😀

Perhaps a confidence booster, I don't recall him washing the front often in the gps so I assume the setup is not there yet.

After hearing plenty of comments from the other riders, and from Hunter and Reedy today, it seems the only people who don’t understand Prado’s struggles, are some moto media and clowns in here.

I expect there’ll continue to be ups and downs for awhile, but I have no doubt he’ll get there.

Correct. Bike was on skates at times today. They definitely made progress over the last two weeks, but still not there yet. The crash in moto two was fear of running into the lapper imo.

He looked much better but still not his best. To me the bike looks almost heavy, like it's 'wallowing' a touch through the acceleration bumps and hitting everything, and then other spots he was definitely struggling for traction in places. You look at Jett (and yes I know Jett's Jett but Prado is capable of a similar look) the way he sort of floats over everything effortlessly. I think he would've got 3rd if he hadn't have gone down but either way I'm sure he gained some big confidence.

Love the little things the top guys can do, @ 0:49

Yeah, the best moto analysts knew he'd come round.  Essentially, all who are properly familiar with MXGP knew he'd be fine. JT, BT, Lewis, Adam Wheeler.

I really hope that he can continue to build and push toward the front.  I’d love to see him gain confidence as the season progresses and challenge for that 3-5 spot every weekend.

His bike does appear to be “heavy” as another person commented.  Watching practice on the weekends when he pulls into the mechanics area, it’s almost as if the bike is soft or “dead” in harsh parts of the track.

I hope so, I had a feeling he'd have a solid weekend. The amount of cheers coming from the crowd yesterday was surprising to me, not going to lie.

100%. It was SO much better. He looked like absolute crap the first 4 rounds. Even his technique was off which is odd.
Moto 2 he looked the best so far this year. He held off Tomac and Hunter for half the race (7/16 laps) until he ran into the lapper and crashed.

He's been at Red Bud twice, so hopefully that helps a bit. 2018 on a 250, 2022 on a 450.

He tucked the front in Moto 1. Moto 2 he couldn’t dodge a lapper, so I wouldn’t say that one was indicative of the bike. He looked far more comfortable on the Kawi than previous races, but still wasn’t hanging it all out like we’re waiting for. I sure hope this is a sign of progress with the bike and the team. I would like to see success for JP in the states.

He lived right next to a sand track in belgium. I mean it was kind of expected he might do good in southwick and he did.

Good to finally see some fight in the dude. James saying that we have been seeing George instead of Jorge was gold! I expect him to rip at Red Bud as well. Maybe Tony won't beat him. I want to see Jorge and Tomac ahead of Jett in moto 1 next Saturday in the opening laps.

Here’s the best part for him and his confidence…. Red Bud is also a decent track for him.  Usually ripped pretty deep and with all the sand added there,  I suspect he’ll be feeling better and will have another good race…. But the hill is steep to climb, Sexton is back, AP and JCoop both go well there and it’s arguably RJ’s best track too.

He dragged his bike in Matthes' post race interview. Basically said he would've won on a different bike and that they are still very far off. "I'm a sand rider and finished 5th. I know I would win if I was on different stuff. ... I could be winning but right now I don't have the tools to do it."

Hopefully they can start gelling soon, it was awesome to see some signs of life from him yesterday!

You'll have a lot better idea after next week. He already knows Red Bud pretty well and it's not sand.

To me he looked like he was pushing, and the bike was moving around a fair bit more than others.

I wonder what Prados going to say when Chase starts winning on that bike in sx.

It’s all bike setup I,d hate to be him being asking about your contract & do you think your staying or going back to Europe?  It’s kinda like your local track that all the fast guys ride & they say . You sure you should be riding here riders like you ride at this different track.
