One day at Unadilla ( I forget the year ) I saw Robbie ride a motorcyle like I've never seen anyone else ride. He was using lines no one else thought of or couldn't get to, seemingly never hitting a bump. As the other guys worked their way around the track Robbie was going twice their speed and looking like he was on pavement. It was awesome.
There are two other rides I put in this class in my mind. One was the Ronnie Lechien ride at Southwick the day after he flew in from a Prom and didn't practice and absolutely demolished them in the first moto. I don't think he made the call for the second moto. The other was a Bradshaw ride also at Southwick, where Damon worked over Stanton who was so dominant at the time. His aggression and speed that day were unreal.
These three rides are all vivid in my mind to this day, more impressive to me than any RC, Stewart or MC ride I've seen, and that's saying a lot.

He is up there near Everts for picture perfect riding technique... if you listen to the ESPN shows in the mid to late 90s David Bailey always mentions just how awesome Reynard's style is and how much pure riding ability he had... and he should know.

I watched him all weekend and never seen a smoother rider. I always followed his career and talked to him at Millville a couple of times. At LL's this year I was at dinner and he was sitting at the table right next to me. When he left I got up to shake his hand and he was just the nicest person. Always loved his style but thought he was one of the nicest guys in all of motocross.

Talent and speed wise, he was one of the fastest of all time. But, as most have pointed out he just simply had an injury plagued career. As Davey pointed out, if he did not have those early-on injuries..... the motocross world would have been his!

Being here in TX, we got to see come down from OK., and race all the time. A lot of great memories of him kicking everyone's ass here in TX..... In August of 1993 there was a race at Oak Hill called the Back-to-School Shoot-Out. It was 105 degrees out, and it was the old style Oak Hill - really sandy and really rough. All of the TX bad boys were there....Dennis Hawthorne, Clint Latham, Roy Schellenberger, Terry Tinney a slew of others and even Trey Clingfost with Swan MX came out of retirement for this race. The gates were packed, Hawthorne and Clingfost grabbed holeshots in separate motos.... but Reynard made quick work of them and blew everyone away.......a Factory caliber rider!
