Back in the 80's getting roosted at Lakewood felt like getting blasted by a shotgun.  "Lakewood Sports Cycle Park", as it was named then, had thick heavy dirt with a few rocks mixed in.  It looks like it's still similar.  With Eli riding strong as he is this could be his weekend!

Apparently even though it was said yesterday that he wasn't going to be because of his altitude issues. 🤷‍♂️

I see a Whispern Smith in 7th place, 450B.  In the early 80's there was a kid named "Whisperin Smith" who raced mini's in the Tx./Ok./La. area.  He was a champion if memory serves correctly.  (I'm not sure of the spelling.)

I had to think the same about Whispern Smith. Must be his kid as his dad rode in the late 80's or early 90's.
