Kinda funny to watch all the reactions to this, especially the people trying to go deep into the analysis of people responding to it....... they must be angry, bigots, etc.... why would you let this bother you..... blah blah blah..... I don't know? Why does their dissenting opinion bother you so much that you feel like you can make all kinds of assumptions based off it?
Guarantee you everyone in here over the age of 40 regularly joked about the topic once upon a time. Now it's taboo to do so or to have a dissenting opinion and if you make any sort of joke or roll your eyes at it you'll get all kinds of the above reactions..... it's all just for the sake of silencing any dissent no matter how trivial it is. It's been a very successful strategy but most people are onto it now.
Alternative lifestyles are so mainstream and boring now that you're really just demeaning people if you still think they can't function in society just fine unless everything is sanitized for them. Nobody really cares they're just sick of hearing about it. It's all so performative and dumb. That's what the backlash is really about.
One of my favorite things to remind liberals is that Barack Obama got elected by openly stating marriage is a union between a man and a woman. Their hero said that not all that long ago but now you're supposed to feel shame or get canceled for saying the exact same thing..... people are over it.
