Racer X twitted about it. Wonder what happened! Anyone around and see?

From what I've seen of CP, I would be surprised if it was anything other than handshake, a congratulations champ and a see you next year from CP to Trey. He's a class act and I would be surprised if it was anything else.

A few 450 class riders could learn a thing or two from these kids.

Once you cross the checkers there should be a a gentlemanly respect shown between everyone at the top of the sport. With out those others guys on the track there is no competition. Without that there is no sport.

Sucks the year ended how it did. At least there seems to be a mutual respect for each other. It could have gone either way and both know that. Alot of people could learn from them!

If CP actually went there to congratulate Trey, kudos to him. That's a very French thing to do. As much as us Americans bash the French, they have us covered in terms of certain forms of sportsmanship.

For example, in the TDF it is common for a racer to stop and wait for a competitor when they've crashed. Very un-American and ultra-cool. Etiquette - something a lot of Americans could stand to learn. Smile

I'm still shocked that CP went down when/how he did. Unreal. CP going over to the Geico rig doesn't surprise me at all. He is the kind of guy to fight , fight and fight til the end but once the fight is over he's either going to graciously win and/or lose. I don't see how or why anyone could dislike him.

Cox talks about it in his race report. They're both class acts. This is so refreshing after the Reed vs. Stewart rivarlies.

Yeah just read that. Those fans should be ashamed. Theres plenty of WWF matches they could have gone to pick their villans.

I'll be rooting for both of these guys in the 450 class.

New, mad respect for CP.

While both of them have different styles and are different men, I have heard they are actually friends and Chris is friends with the whole Canard clan.

steve cox has a good point about their respect for each other. i do wonder if some may be from cp possibly going on to be treys honda teammate. i wonder why the top 2 guys in the series did not have a video feed/ camera on them every inch of the track. talk about excitement being able to see cp wreck just after trey wrecked. and i am not hinting that i like to see riders getting hurt; just the unfolding drama.

Would you rather watch racing or watch someone ride around alone by himself just doing his thing? The sport doesn't gain fans by watching the points leader ride alone in 3rd spot while second in command is riding like a mad man to catch him. DC said it perfectly when talking about the GP coverage; Murphys Law dictates that the best/worse always happens when it doesn't need to.

Good on Pourcel. I just wish he would get more respect from more of the fans at the races. He's a good, talented rider.

"It’s just unfortunate that the fans don’t have as much respect for Pourcel as Canard does, or for that matter, as Pourcel does for Canard."

I'd like to correct Steve on this line, it's "some fans", not "the fans". I've liked Pourcel since he came over, I think because I understood his sarcasm and humor, a lot of folks didn't and/or don't get it, imo.

Pourcel has won over plenty of American fans this year. Im one of them. I respected his riding, but never knew what to make of the guy. He has turned into one of my favorite riders, and to read about going over to Trey's rig makes me really respect the guy that much more. That is ALL class. How many of us would go over and do that after having the title in our grasp like that? And Cox is right about the fans needing to knock the shit off. Its pathetic now. A man comes across the world, has to learn a new language, get used to a new culture, get used to new tracks ect...and you boo him because he's winning?
