If you are a strange bird like I suggest CP is, you will probably make a greater mark in history than if you are the mainstream guy (xxx xxx) that is liked by everyone?

CP obviously like Stew has his hardcore fans (cough, cough) that maybe is enough, but in general, what's the best strategy in life you think? Do your own thing, or adapt?

Stew has got some serious shit lately, and partly justified because of the cognitive dissonance (he doesn't walk the talk) I think, but we just want him to ride (the real mx fan wants that at least). CP on the other hand is riding everything from SX, MX to the mxDn. He's kind to the fans, and give props to his no 1 enemy on the track. He doesn't ride dirty and hasn't said anything negative about America or Americans.

1. What would make you to like him more. What can you demand from him that is realistic, and if he did that, would you honestly like him?

2. Do you really want him to change? Some people like to dislike some.<

3. Isn't it better for him to continue this strange bird thing? He will maybe make a bigger impact (when we talke about Hannah, Magoo etc seems it was because the where more of characters)?

Personally I hope his parent's gave him enough self esteem to ride this out and give the boo birds the bird. But I can't blame him if he adapts...

I love the guy! How can you not?

His sheer skill on the bike is second to none in my opinion. He rides so deliberately that it's almost sickening at times.

I really hope he pulls it off this weekend, he deserves this championship. Nobody really knows what he is up against physically, if it's even as close to as bad as the rumors say then he deserves respect for even trying to line up. Seriously stop and think about it, if he can't even sweat and he's competing week in and week out with guys who work with olympic class trainers...

Good luck CP! (but if Canard pulls it out he deserves it just as much)

To be honest I like him the way he is. The fact that he can even do what he does now is unbelievable and that's why I respect him so much.

If CP was an American born rider, he would be loved by fans. I like him just the way he is though. His personality is also quite awesome in my opinion. There's actually nothing that I don't like about the guy.

Maybe some people don't like him because he's from France
Maybe some people don't like him because they can't figure him out.

Who knows...

I totally agree with everything you say people, but we already like him. We are not his "problem" either, like how I get the feeling in the JS7 posse where some might pet his ego but with CP it's really nothing suggested he's doing wrong, and we haven't supported this mystic wrong doing? Seriously he has done shit compared to the others like Barcia. Did J-Law get booed after his many brain farts? So seems this French thing might hold some water... Sad

I see a picture with a large groups of grow up men (with kid brains) booing this kid because whatever. I just wonder what strategy would be the best for CP (we don't know how his feelings about this and how he handle his, hopefully this is not a factor for him while racing against TC).

Maybe he's laughing? Bu I know I would be a bit bummed and I'm almost 40 and have kind of learned to eat shit after some decades...

Think about it. Euro guy , no fluent english, french - two (Dungey, Canard) clean cut, God speaking, AMERICAN guys in a row. IN AMERICAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. How can you not hate and boo?

DUDES, get girlfriends. CP don't care about nothing but going faster, which will make him a fortune. Maybe it's his destiny, maybe not. But he probably gets more than most guys.He does not have a dilemma, you do.

I hope you are right. I just felt bad when I heard tons of people boing him. Maybe he didn't care, but I did and obviously Trey did as well...

Well, Pourcel is a winner in the end, so I guess he will manage all this. And again, despite all the booing he would probably attract more ladies than we can pull togheter, and all those ladies "belonging" to the boo-birds as well (hmm, maybe that's the reason?)

This subject is getting a little old IMO..But to answer the french thing, he is disliked by the french also. If you followed GP's you would know this..its about shit talking and excuse making he does in french or in English, simple as that and now he's trying to change but the fans that followed him in the last several years will not let it go. Why is that so hard to understand?

Compare his ways from the past to how he is now and you can see change, i say he is adapting and trying to become one of "the good guys" like Canard. It has nothing to do with where he was born IMO..

My respect for him grew by 10x after this past weekend from hearing his comments at the press conference.

See I have always respected and admired his riding ability, but thought he was stuck up for thinking he was the champion last year instead of Dungey. But now I understand where he is coming from.

He said that he feels like he NEEDS to beet Canard this weekend in order to feel like the champion. Last year, he was the faster rider and he considers himself the better rider from last year against Dungey. If he wins this championship by 1 point having lost to Canard again, he won't feel like a real champion. I admire that desire to be the unequivocal champion, leave no doubt.

How could you not like Pourcel. He's battled injuries, speaks his mind, actually has a personality( unlike RD5) rides clean, has class and is funny. How on earth could you boo someone like that especially when Trey and him are one of the only things keeping the nationals interesting. The race at steel city was epic and what everyone wants to see. How could you then in-turn boo him? The only thing that makes sense is that Pittsburgh is close enough to WV and a bunch of rednecks were booing him because hes french lol.

Yeah, i remember that comment he made about last years title getting everybody's panties in a knot. People wanted to crucify him for saying he was the 2009 champion. It does sound like an arrogant and stupid statement on the surface, but if you look at it from his perspective, it's totally understandable why he believed that.

Totally agree. At least he's no hypocrite.

Raddad: you could be right about this smack talk thing. I haven't payed any attention to that before. People with that attitude usually grow up. Maybe this is what happening right now? I only hope that he in the end gets credit for his effort in the change to a more humble person...

I guess if this continues, he will win people over. I notice a huge change here on Vital towards his persona. Fewer people on that dislike bandwagon no doubt, and at the same time CP shows emotions, and is being honest, giving cred. He even cut his hair! Smile

Well. I'm sure this will play out well in the end (partly meaning Trey and his fans will be a bit sad though)!

His English has improved immensely. I have a bet he holds on to the '010 title.

If not, Canard will be a perfect 250 Champion.

And thanks, both of you guys, for giving us much excitement up to the end!

I'm gonna bet on Pourcel this time around. But its pretty cool that there is a healthy, but strong rivalry like this evolving between the two. Can you imagine if they both end up at Honda? It will be like Stanton/Bayle all over again.

If I was Pourcel? I would be banging moto ho's left and right. Oh, and Id keep winning races just doing what Im doing. I went from not really knowing what to make of him at the start of the year to actually becoming a big fan. I think he is fucking hilarious in his own way. People just take him to serious. Im still pulling for Trey (USA baby!) but I will be pumped for CP if he wins it. Nobody could ever say he didnt earn it.
