Apologies for opening this thread 10 days before the GP, but imo there's a lot to discuss about.
Most important ofcourse: the case Tim Gajser. He said himself he had no broken bones, but a dislocated shoulder (which was dislocated for more than 30 minutes). He was going for further examinations this week. We'll have to wait and see what comes out in the coming days. If it's "only" a dislocated shoulder, he'll probably line up, but in what physical state? If he doesn't line up, the championship is wide open again, although Febvre has a gap of 27 points to close on Gajser, and has an advantage of 51 points on Coenen.
No further news yet about Renaux and Guillod, who will also undergo further check-ups this week.
I imagine Fernández will be adamant to set things straight after his DSQ in Switzerland. Being from Vigo, a lot of his local fans will make the trip to Águeda and Lugo the week after, as it's not that big of a distance from both tracks.
Update Maxime Renaux: looks like he's fine. Completely sore and struggling to walk, but it looks like nothing is broken and he only has contusions. He will take some days time to recover and then decide what the plan for the coming weeks will be.
I wonder if Reišulis will jumping directly to MXGP in '26 instead of going to MX2. The guy was SO GOOD in the 125 (champion), then was doing really well in the emx250 but he didnt finished the 2024 season. Now hes alreday back on beating everybody. Big talent
Crazy to me that even with a DNF after just 6 rounds Gajser still has a 27 point lead over 2nd, the rest of the field is really inconsistent.
Would be a bummer if he had to sit out rounds, hoping we get positive news soon and that he has a good recovery.

I was expecting Gajser to sit off Coenen's wheel and just wait for a mistake or last 5 minutes. He seemed to be experimenting with lines and waiting to pull the trigger. That water bar was inside the course it it was not reasonable for a racer to deal with if only off the main line a little, real disappointment in track prep. In general that track was gnarly even in a straight line, helluva riding clinic to watch.

A wild guess is that Tim Gajser won’t be able to ride for a couple of weeks. He’ll probably miss Portugal and Spain to begin with.
I really don't know what to expect from Tim, as he surprised before - e.g. when he broke collarbone, few days later finished 12th in Sardinia and won Germany round a week later.
He definitely won't be ready, but if you ask me, he will be lining in Portugal and Spain.

I think even if he misses two GPs he can still win this title. Febvre would probably be up 75-80 points with 12 rounds to go. Not an easy task but with Herlings and Coenen getting stronger it's possible if he gets back to 100% and wins most of these rounds.

I thought the same. With such a big points lead and knowing the track was sketchy, I'm surprised Tim was pushing so hard.
Indeed. With the points he gained on Coenen and Febvre on Saturday and the points he gained on Febvre in the first race (and probably in the second one too), he would've always been the big winner of the weekend if he stayed in second place. Ofcourse, that's like "giving away" a possible GP win, so I understand he doesn't think like we do.
I think his plan was to not let Coenen get away too far, so he could put some pressure on him when the lappers came to play and so forcing Coenen into making a mistake.

They replaced an old plate for a new one. He'll miss the next 2 GP's after all.
Round 7 and the MXGP gate is very full. Guillod is out, and Gajser, Forato and Guadignini are questionable but everyone else looks in. Same with all of the MX2 contenders.

Aveiro is the best place to book a hotel. Nice little tourist port town with many dining options. You'll like it there. About 35min to the track. We're staying there every year. Some of the teams as well.

Me too - can’t wait! We were actually booked to go in 2020 but Covid hit just before and it all got cancelled. Forecast was looking pretty grim but is now not looking as bad - fingers crossed!
Assuming you fly in via Porto i would spend at least the friday in Porto and drive to the track on saturday. Then the weekend stay in Aveiro, which is something like half an hour from the track. It's a nice city next to the water with nice views and canals. It was an enjoyable city to spend the weekend.
The track is in an industrial area in Agueda. Its a great track and expect a lot of spectators. I really enjoyed the weekend over there.
Has the track & surrounding area been affect by this power outage?
Excellent GP to attend, been there twice and planning to go back in the future. Great track, great to watch as a spectator, good crowd, decent atmosphere, nice country. I only liked it better when they raced it clockwise.

I think the main concern for Gajser is that dislocations have the potential to be more severe than bone fractures.
While that immediately sounds like rubbish, the fact is that dislocations often damage tendons and muscles that can take longer to heal than a break. With his shoulder being out for 30 minutes, the odds for tendon damage are not good!
We’ll soon know either way, hopefully just some weakness and discomfort for a short period.

That's impressive, dude is tough. I wonder what kind of effort he can put in, can't imagine he will be anywhere near 100%. But if he can run top 10 without further damaging his rehab I feel like that would be a win under the circumstances. He crashed so hard, dang...
Yeah, hard to believe he will line up!! But if he can get through these two rounds then they have a weekend off. Hoping he is able to ride at a good level.
Renaux will miss the Portugese and Spanish GP after all.
Do we know more about his injury ?
