I did a 3 stop deliver in 3 different towns in 2 states in strip malls today . 1st stop a tree trimmer trk with out riggers and boom up was in the corner that I needed to get in the tight parking lot. All kinds of problems on all 3 stops. Pu was in Ga . In the boonies 100 mi s. Of AtL it was sitting traffic threw AtL to almost Tn. . No where to park & constant off & on hard showers . Fog at night and more rain I parked at a gas station off to the side only stop light in town was next to me. Loud as hell so i didn’t get much sleep b4 delivers. Scrap yard pu earlier in the week is another cluster didn’t get the rt ld on me. Countless problems getting back in to reload . Then the fat idiot put the forklift threw the roof and makes a hole. Trk in the scrap delivery driveway broke a tie rod I was told probably a pitman arm . He ditched it we all had to wait for a wrecked to pull him out . A 3k+ bag of metal shavings constantly banging ito the door sprung it . It still doesn’t close with out a hr of work . 10 wheel borrows of metal shaving where all ovr tge floor . Leaf blowed for a hr+ I had that crap down my shirt into my underwear inside my boots. Next is off to a tiny trl repair shop for a roof patch . I borrowed there high quality push broom another hr trying get the metal shavings out of the floor. Scrap ld was after sitting for 4 days ovr the holiday, no loads 250 mi radius of Indy . Thursday to sat noon constant phone calls with work. Most boring ts ever no one talked or woukd talk . Even the illegals I ask how many days u been hear they just stare then walk away . Very strange I did laundry 2 days , went for a few walks , Walmart , added up receipts for taxes , etc. try to stay busy . Constant hard showers off & on its muggy like summer in the se. But starve no cold sandwiches in the se or a parking spot . Getting stuff to these stores is a f ing bitch doesn’t pay shit either .
I thought they went out of business a long time ago. My racing buddy used to stock for them back when they did it at night, made pretty good bucks back in the 70's. Hey Coop, if you're out there.
They're still alive out west. My mom drove for Safeway in the '70's out of Tulsa. They were union top to bottom. She made damn good money. They treated their employees very well and the employees loved 'em back.
I've got childhood stories about Safeway. And not just walking into the beer cooler and having a couple beers and leaving. We had another good method to get free beer when we were in our teens. Maybe I will share it on here sometime. lol
Also manager mini Hitler chasing us off the property for grinding painted curbs.
Is Monster Energy available at Safeway?
Back in the day…the Safeway store in Almaden Valley/San Jose/South-end…the good end…of Silicon Valley…on Almaden Expressway…
The source of many “cycle stands” and a place where many Coca-Cola/Pepsi/Dr Pepper/7 Up bottles were returned in order to buy parts to build BMX bikes.
Kroger tried to buy Safeway/Albertsons last year, but the merger was blocked for anti-trust reasons.
Frys (Kroger) and Safeway dominate the grocery category in Arizona (besides Walmart/Target/Costco), if they would have merged they would have had like 90+% of the true grocery store category in AZ (excluding Walmart, etc).
They made a deal to sell over 100 of the Safeway locations in AZ to another grocery chain, to try and get the merger approved.
But at the end the merger was not approved and the whole deal was terminated. I think Kroger had to pay Safeway a pretty hefty "break up" fee as well. Don't recall all the details but it was big news at least locally last year.
But we almost always shop at Frys, Safeway is higher priced on just about everything.
So you pretty much summed it up in the last sentence?
Damn Burn…
Can you read that? I can’t flippin’ follow and when I tried running it through a translation app but it says “unable to translate-language not known” 😵💫 👍❗️
Haha! I only understood the last sentence 😎
Only while wearing white sunglasses.
Dude, i was pretty good at sniping bottles from every ditch and vacant lot. That "68 Suzuki 50 ate spark plugs like a fat kid eats HoHo's.
It's a Dr. Who sience fictiony kinda thing. You know...parallel universe shit.
You’ll get better at it. Pro is pretty prolific on the Vital, sometimes even on topic😂 wait til the Russians and the lot lizards start back up, always make good reading.
Nothing but love for you Pro!!

Isn't it time for one of the movie industry folks to collect all of pro125's posts, use them to train AI, and then have that AI write a dystopian sci-fi series?
I do enjoy reading your posts profeshenal125, even if I don't quite get them 🙂
Wait… wha…Huh??! You mean to tell me, Profeshenal 125 is NOT an AI generated SNL character and is a REAL person who was on his way to being a 1st round draft pick as an MLB baseball player or NBA basketball player after Kevin Windham, John Dowd, Doug Henry & Steve Lamson got the factory seats in the glory days of factory tuned 125’s but chose truck driving instead so he could pull ALL the chicks AND be his own boss?
Sheeesh I already knew Pro125 was a vital legend…but NOW I only hope that I have a fraction of his life adventures & experiences or that I was even half as good in every sport as pro must have been! 🤪 👍❗️
Boomhauer?
It's all about the double boost port....
I worked for Safeway for about 10 years in my younger life. Altogether I actually worked in over 30 stores during that time, but only 4 of them were my ‘home’ stores. The mid 80s to mid 90s was a good time to be in management for them. I still can’t figure out how I spent all the money that they paid me, but whatever I spent it on sure was fun!!!!!!
I haven’t seen a Safeway down here, but Tom Thumb is their equivalent along with Albertsons of course. I think that they had a Randall’s division in Texas, maybe they still do but I haven’t seen one yet.
Yeah they aren't as popular. I havent any around here either.
No Burgerville, No Round Table Pizza. The first 2 places I hit when I visit the NW.
Burgerville!
Now, I want a Black Forest Shake lol.
I don’t think there’s any in the Seattle area but, I really liked that place when I lived in Portland
Yeah - another place too around the Portland Vancouver area is Muchas Gracias. Haven't found any other Mexican food anywhere in the USA close to it's taste. Used to hit it often after a night of drinking.
I don’t remember if I’ve eaten at a Burgerville, but definitely seen many of them when visiting my daughters. In Seattle the ‘go-to’ places have been Dick’s for burgers, and either MOD or Pagliacci’s for pizza. But if I haven’t been to the Seattle area in a long time, I always try to stop at an Ivar’s if I can.
Muchas Gracias has awesome breakfast burritos. Throw a little lime and, salt on that bad boy. Damn…
I worked a lot in Vancouver while living in Portland. We probably hit the same one lol
Around what year? I used to hit the one on 4th plain,a little one downtown couve,Hazel dell location then the Salmon Creek one lol. Even been to a couple locations in Portland.
I'm team Publix but remember Safeway but have not seen one in awhile. All the Albertsons disappeared recently. There is a dozen Publix in my city where my house is but the closest one to ranch is about 40 minutes. I do love the small Winn Dixie nearby though and they carry a lot of local mexican goods that are really good. I guess it's turning into an Aldi any day.
