I'll just switch to Asian food. That way I have plausible deniability.

One of the bar/grill places  in our subdivision recently closed and what's it going to be now ?   You guessed it , a Chinese restaurant .  I love Chinese food .  Now all we need is one of those Chinese jack shack massage places and life will be good .

If NOT eating chinese food qualifies as “boycotting” then I am a life-long “boycotter”!
My best buddy in 8th grade, had an older sister that was a senior, (nicest set of knoc I mean, a story is for another time!🤪) and she worked as a waitress in a chinese place a few blocks away. One night the dishwashers didn't show-up and she called home, asking her brother & I to fill-in and told us what the owner was willing to pay! We ride the bicycles up (it was 1979!) and we washed dishes the rest of that night, and ended up doing it for the next two nights too! I gathered up my cash pay & I have NEVER set foot into another chinese food joint to this day! I was SO disgusted by what I saw, smelled & scrapped off plates in that place…45 years later I cannot even stand the smell of a chinese shack while driving past! 😁 👍❗️

In 91 working in Ct. A Vietnam Vet coworker talked me into going out for Chinese & what to Order lemon pepper meat or cashew chicken , I still order the same stuff.  He had the funniest deer poaching stories.  Flying across a hay field at night with spot lights shooting from the cab& box . Get close enough & jump out & stick the deer with a knife haha . Wi. Wild guy Fred

Nothing like telling a "poaching some deer" story to vibe with friends!

Amirite?

So with all the tariff talk going on with the commies and "Ping Pong" Chee over in China. I have decided to start a boycott of China.

So starting today, I will no longer be eating "Chinese food" until this whole trade balance dealio is worked out.

It's my form of protest. Who is with me!

Thank you

Luke

You are really showing them! Boycotting food made in America 😂😂

Why don’t you boycott your phone/ipad/computer? It’d be good for everyone.

This is like willingly buying a bunch of stuff from your local store (goods that you will ultimately sell on and make profit), then getting angry at the store for the ‘trade deficit’ and boycotting said store because they’re ’taking advantage of you’.

Seems we may be able to pick up the chopsticks soon?

"China has agreed to "open itself up to American business" following trade negotiations between Washington, D.C., and Beijing on Saturday, according to President Donald Trump.

The arrangement was arguably the most significant development stemming from the trade negotiations, Trump told reporters Monday at the White House. Plans have yet to be finalized and "papered," but Trump said that China is on board with the agreement.

"The biggest thing to me is the opening up," Trump told reporters Monday during an announcement regarding an executive order on drug prices in the U.S. "It would be, I think it would be fantastic for our businesses if we could go in and compete and compete with China. It would be a lot of jobs for China."

Well, I am just guessing. Posters here are not youngsters. We have no one to blame but ourselves. This situation will not correct itself for another generation. This did not happen overnight. If today we are starting the change, then great. We need to stay the course to create a better situation for those that come after us. Just don’t complain about the pains along the path. How can you get repair items for your house that comply. China Depot carries very few  made in USA items.

When I was younger, I was doing concrete work with a bunch of Samoans. There were six of us. The boss would take us out for dinner every Friday at different Chinese buffets for obvious reasons. It was like a game to them. See how many plates they could eat before we were kicked out.

There used to be a fish and chips chain up in the Northwest called Skippers. They had an all-you-can-do-to-yourself fish and chips meal that was only like $1-$2 more than their regular 3 piece basket.

I used to go there with one of my roommates and his line mate who both ended up as NFL offensive linemen. I was the ‘little guy’ at 6’4 and 230ish, they were each over 6’8 and 300 bills.

Every time we’d go in there (a couple of times a month) the girl behind the counter would yell to the kitchen “We’re going to need a lot more fish and chowder!”

They were pretty cool about it, though. I could eat 7-8 pieces of fish (they were pretty big and I’m pretty sure that it was cod back then, they changed to cheaper fish later), but those guys could eat 20 each and half a dozen big bowls of chowder. They actually gave us the biggest bowls instead of the cups that they usually gave so we didn’t have to go up and ask for a refill so often!!!!

They did tell us that they would appreciate if we came at certain times because they were slower then and that way we wouldn’t slow things down for the ‘regular people’!

Good times…..!

When I lived up your way back in the early 1980's  in Hazel Dell (J & M PLaza) there was a place called Kings Table.  It was a smorgasbord.  At the time I lived right next door to the Stewart family (Frank Stewart who's pro Wrestling name was Dutch Savage). I was best buddies with his youngest son Mitch.   Frank used to take Mitch & I  there and for only .10 cents you could build your own ice cream cones & sundaes.   WE would make them like 2 foot tall.   They finally put a stop to it and would only sell desert to people that paid for the buffet. But we made out pretty good while it lasted.
