We've talk many times about how expensive it is to organise a GP as a local association, how freaking expensive it is for teams to do a full season etc etc, we know that MXGP doesn't do well to anyone economically.
But what the hell is this track ? Where is the safety here ? How can we see someone like Tim Gajser been thrown away like that by a bump on the side ?
So not only the poors get the poorer and rich richer, but also it you've gotta let your health in it ?
Gajser was pretty much off the track when that crash happened. You can't surround the track with bubble wrap man, it's motocross.
There was a nasty kicker on that table, but there still needs to be accountability on the riders. Nasty kicker? Maybe don't try to scrub so hard.
I'm not condemning the riders either, it's just a dangerous sport. If you are always looking to find something to complain about, you'll ALWAYS be able to find it.
So where does that leave SX with it's injury list this year.? For all it's faults, I'm pretty sure the MXGP MIA score is still lower than SX.
Yeah, at the risk of being flamed for blaming the track, that area could have been knocked down so going off the track wouldn't be immediately/unexpectedly a hazard. It was within the track bounds, but I guess in the interest of keeping the track grass where it could be it was left as it was.
They each have their fair share of injuries…but to compare a season that is just beginning to one that is just ending may be a touch unfair….either way injuries suck

Also, that blue flag guy should not have been stood there and he was lucky to not be hit by Tim's bike. Why's he trackside on the first few laps of the race anyway?
Renaux also hit Joel Smets when he went off track. One day, someone's going to get really hurt for standing where they shouldn't have been.
And for Tim, It's really unfortunate. You can see the markers are hammered into those mounds so you couldn't use the full width of the track anyway. However, all the riders must have walked the track so why weren't these mounds knocked down?
Yes that's what you get when you look only at the money and if you can park the big team trucks......and not at the circuits.........half of the circuits where they race are horrible............
Tracked looked tight but it was a good track. Not a world championship caliber though.
Riders will always complain when they feel uncomfortable. there was nothing egregiously dangerous out there. It was just rough as hell and guys weren’t making good decisions. Simon langefelder and Coenen made good decisions.
Timmy just messed up as he’s been known to do and the other guys hit the same kicker. It happens
slow and technical tracks are needed. Different kinds of dirt is needed. It would be a folly to listen too much to rider input.
Other riders liked the track, the ruts, and the dirt - some of them stated it's the best dirt of the entire season. Just the facility as a whole isn't the most popular one.
It's normal not every rider likes a track. Herlings didn't like this one, as it's not his natural habitat. Ask guys like Guillod or Pancar how they feel about Sardinia or Lommel for example.
Gajser just went too wide - which doesn't mean those grass-sand boulders should be there. Leave them out please. Also, waiting for 30 minutes with a dislocated shoulder for an examination shouldn't happen. But that's not the track's fault, it's the organiser's.
Whether it’s a hay bale, tough block, cinder block, or compacted pile of dirt like this, only an idiot would place an elongated object perpendicular to the track with a tiny track marker in the middle of it! Good grief. 🤦
That flagger had no idea how close he was to seeing the light. Noticed several unsafe flagger posting positions in the highlights. Track worker safety needs to be a top priority.
He was inside the track markers as photos clearly show.
I'm definitely in the minority, but... just watch where you're going? If the track is this rough and full of chop, lumps, etc.. Just tone it down.
I really liked this track on TV, but could do without the pile of dirt just outside the yellow markers. As for Maxime and Valentin, it's just rider's mistake...

Agree....The sport continues to be run like a backyard race not at a professional level the riders need and deserve when they are riding balls out. The whole series needs better safety overview. Put the markers on edge of track not 4' off track on high speed corner with hard ass abrupt mounds of topsoil . Get the flaggers trained and coordinated, someone needs to be scrutinizing these guys postilions and with they are doing during every moto. Flagger is lucky as hell the bike went the other way.
MXGP be like:
-Let's make some tough blocks of hard soil.
-Place them perpendicular to the track.
-Put markers on them, not on the edge but a few feet away from the track.
