i love that the excuse for deegan not being good at supercross is that he isnt going undefeated lmao.  rookie year 2nd overall, sophmore year 2nd overall, 3rd year likely a west coast win**...rookie year 2nd overall MX, sophmore year dominant MX champ, back to back SMX champ and went 5-6 in the smx rounds last year.  Hes usually fighting form the back due to bad starts, and still ends up on the podium.  the only person to straight up pass him and walk away has been cole, and he did it once.    theyre both going to be rockstars, but the amount of people writing off his SX accomplishments is hilarious.  " hE hAd a Sx tRaCk SinCe hE waS iN tHe WoOoOomB" so he should be undefeated and because he's not he sucks..LMAO

You're talking about one post like it's the entire thread, and we're comparing him to Davies who has had a better start to his sx career

Which one has a better 5 year outlook in your opinion? If you had to pick between the two as a team manager to sign one of them for a 5 year deal who would it be?

You have a stunning glass ball that we don't know about?

Good question though and I'll br happy to answer this in 5 yrs time.

Both Deegan and Cole are on a good trajectory for a bright future...

I think when you turn up to A1 expecting to dominate. You set the expectations high for every one.. and then to come out and win 2 out of 8 with a foreign Rookie taking race wins away from you while cutting through the pack… it’s not the best look, and with the expectations he voiced, his performance has been underwhelming.

Not to say he isn’t riding great. But he made it clear he was on a different level. Even comparing himself to Jett… and I think it’s safe to say he’s not as dominant as himself or every one else thought he would be in SX…

"was only riding at 75%"

"i thought there were 5 minutes left"

"i was training alone with christian craig"

at this rate we're gonna need a deegs excuse thread to go along with the Rickyisms thread.

Yeah I am of the same opinion. Davies has had a few wins but he hasn’t won any championships. Deegan passed him like it was nothing in the heat win in Philly… Two time SMX champion, 2024 250 MX champion, two time SX 250E runner up and most likely 2025 250W SX champion. There’s a body of work that is very impressive. Davies doesn’t have that yet.

I can’t be convinced the 250 W 2nd place rider is better than Deegan. That’s just recency bias all the way. I can remember people making posts that JU JU was better than Deegan and that was a month ago. Now people saying Davies is better…

I gotta see Davies win a championship first. Davies doing well in Supercross is great and I think it’s going to be exciting to watch Davies Deegan and the 250  riders progress. Deegan is probably one of the smartest riders that managed successfully two SMX championships and he knows he doesn’t have to win every race to win a SX championship. Oh yeah Deegan is dominant in MX which is the real show of skill of a rider.

Right so one championship to Davies’ 0, seems fairly equal

This thread is about who's going to be better 5 years from now. You'd hope that Deegan is better than a 17 year old rookie that rolled his first set of whoops less than 3 years ago. The question is who has the higher ceiling.

Davies, smooth calm ultra precision riding. Translates to a long & successful 450 career as well. Less hectic, far less distractions.

Deegs is going to win the title comfortably. Logic would say that’s because he’s the better rider. But, never doubt the passion of a Deegan hater. After Thunder Valley last year, on these forums, they were ready to anoint Hymas the new GOAT too.

Deegs is in title protect mode now, while Davies has nothing to lose. MX will be a clean slate and we’ll see who’s who. Deegs haters better stock up on tissues.

I find it funny anytime he straight up gets beat Deegan is in “Title Protect” mode.

LOL

Like RC or anybody getting a check from Monster says “Generational Talent”…

While Davies is now matching him for series wins at two each.

Just too keep this in perspective this is a shortened regional feeder SX series.

Did you watch the last race…?

He was not in “Title Protect Mode” pushing that hard to unsuccessfully catch Davies.

Anyone with a brain that has a 17pt lead with 2 races to go is in “Title Protect” mode.

There’s 22 motos of outdoor upcoming. Clean slate. We’ll see who the top dog is. No excuses.

I mean, he did technically catch Davies. Chopped like 4 seconds off the lead. Didn’t pass him, but did close it down.

Horseshoes and hand grenades or whatever. Carry on.

He was pushing way too hard trying to catch Davies. You could clearly see the effort.

I would not bet against him outdoors though.

Yeah I did, it’s crazy that he’s gaining points by getting 2nd.

The discipline matters!

If one rider excels outdoors and one rider excels indoors, the indoor specialist will be the bigger name and earn more.

a good example…

Think Dylan Ferrandis and Jason Anderson..

which of those two has the best ‘profile’?

Both of whom have won 1x championship in the premier division, albeit one indoors, one outdoors.

I didn’t know title mode meant sending it… Deegan has crashed every race weekend.
Including almost taking other riders out when trying to send it and getting sketchy.

Yeah he’s been crashing every weekend, but he has the points lead, we would be talking about him differently if he was still crashing but without the points lead.

100% not taking away his points lead. And him and Cole are ahead of the class. But I don’t think Deegans managing skills are a strong point of his. His mistakes always seem to come from what views as trying to much to gain that extra time or sending it in sections that are not needed to be.

The only reason Deegan closed on Davies late in the race was because Davies was slowing down.
Cole was the one playing it safe to guarantee the win. This was not Deegan getting faster late in the race.
Once he got close, Davies simply amped it back up a notch for a lap to bring it home.

The only reason Deegan closed on Davies late in the race was because Davies was slowing down.
Cole was the one playing it safe to guarantee the win. This was not Deegan getting faster late in the race.
