No one is asking to smoke weed in public places or while driving, that is probably the weakest logical fallacy ridden excuse mentioned in this thread. But, I will assume that you are consistent across your morals and would be against smoking cigarettes in public. You brought your arbitrary "six beers" into this conversation, injecting more misleading information to the thread. So I ask you, who do you think is campaigning for the legalization of marijuana consumption while driving? Bottom line, you and the rest of the people in this thread repeating the same hysterics need to spend some time educating yourselves.

You say no one is asking to smoke weed in public places is a weak argument. Anywhere you go in Michigan or Ohio now that it is legal has people smoking the skunkiest smelling weed. And last year at Ironman was the same way. I don't care if people want to smoke it, I just don't want to have to smell it all day.

I've been to California 5 times in the last year, almost never smell it. I definitely smell it more in TX. Also, not sure if any of you complaining about the smell are aware of the fact Marijuana can be ingested in a thousand ways other than smoking it.

Well I wish they would use those other 999 ways because the skunk smell is nasty and pretty rude to the people around. And I also can not stand drunks at races either. So basically what I'm saying is be considerate to those around you.

I'm 100% on board with respecting the people around you, I also share the sentiment about drunks.

Where do you get the notion that it’s ‘allowed’ while driving?  In Washington, even though cannabis is legal you can be arrested for even having it in your glove compartment. Any cannabis is treated like an open container of alcohol and if it’s accessible to anyone in the car while driving then it’s illegal.

It's just a logical fallacy (slippery slope), along with the rest of the misinformation that has been force fed to every public school student since the 60's.

Speaking of smoking in public, I don't smoke cigarettes and never have, but wtf is it that hard to go an hour and a half or 2 hours without one ? We were at speedway saturday night, our grandson couldn't get close enough so our son was standing down by the rail holding him for most of the night. When it started getting later he came back up to the bleachers because he said "Everyones smoking cigs and I don't want him breathing that shit" Sure enough it wasn't like one guy you could single out and call out, it was the whole slew of  "Biker" people with Harley hats and belts and jackets and Harley tattoos and headbands, like a sea of black and orange. I guess a cig hanging out of your mouth is part of the "Biker tough guy image" ?  Not to change subjects too much but I guess they think we're all impressed with how loud they're shiny piles of shit are when they rip right by you walking back to your car and pull in the clutch to hit the rev limiter, we were like fuck off clown your bike sounds like a wet fart.... Sorry to get sidetracked, ok back to weed lol.

Free the Plant! I’ve never known a pothead to drive the wrong way down the highway and kill an innocent family of five. Never heard of somebody smoking, then beating their wife and kids. Only thing in danger is a bag of Doritos.

Drunks run stop signs, potheads wait for them to turn green.

Check this out, the real Jim Sharp is one of us!!

Interested to hear opinions on why this isn't a thing.

How can we be perfectly cool with alcohol being legal and not a plant?

Especially interested to hear opinions from Republicans that want "less government" but fully support the government regulating a plant....how do you justify that?

Let adults buy weed, alcohol, pills, etc.

I’m of the mind that adults can decide.

We should be free to choose what we ingest, drink, smoke, shootup, etc.

As long as it’s not hurting anyone else, be free and live well.

Too many fucking laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.

The US is the least free country in the world. From our government to our school systems, to insurance and healthcare.

We are in absolute and complete Bondage to a system of rules and regulations.

Not free at all.

The US is the least free country in the world? Are you insane? You need to expand your perspective. Go spend some time in North Korea. For most of human history, and in some places today, believing in the wrong god will get you killed. But you're oppressed because some drugs are illegal and you have an education system? Good lord.

That said, weed is relatively harmless - probably more so than alcohol - and I think it should be legal. But that's a far cry from saying that fentanyl and heroin should be legal.

For an example of what it can be like when all drugs are legal, go hang out on East Hastings Street in Vancouver, Canada.

News flash the world doesn't revolve around a few jackasses that think they can do whatever they want or whenever they want, they should quit acting like the event was only for them.🙄

humor...maybe

You see what they have done? The folks who do not partake of either weed or alcohol are sitting back and laughing as the alcoholics and the stoners argue over what is the lessor vice.

Much the same way that the side by side crowd and dirtbikers should unite to keep riding areas open, separate groups of the chill culture should unite.

You have an indoor speedway with a non-smoking section?

No its outside, its on the OC fairgrounds property, its their policy not speedways policy. I know the promoter and they do not want to ruffle the fairgrounds feathers so they try to play by their rules. As far as the group that decided the rules don’t matter to them, I’m guessing first one guy fires one up ? and then the rest follow suit like it’s ok ? Maybe once they smell one they can’t resist, like a shark that smells blood ?   So he had 15 to 20 people smoking at the same time all standing next to each other, and he was right in the middle of them so him ( and a couple other guys holding young kids left and went somewhere else ) My son was like whatever no biggie, but it pissed me off because A, They don’t give a shit about the fairgrounds policy or the people around them in close proximity, and I guarantee you they couldn’t give a shit if the track gets shut down. (What used to be every Friday night throughout the summer is now only 8 events a year) The promoter told me “We’re doing it as long as we can, we’re gonna ride it into the ground” “But it’s a constant battle” So he’s trying to not piss off the fairgrounds. After the races, they have guys holding up signs saying 5 miles an hour please leave quietly etc, but you have the same group wrapped in Harley everything revving their bikes to the moon, “trying” to do burnouts and hauling ass right next to people walking out of the parking lot  I swear it’s like you have a bunch of motorcycle riders that are trying their best to get the motorcycle races shut down. I don’t give a crap if people want to smoke outside the stadium in the parking lot or wherever, and go 90 mph through traffic, have at it. But lighting up in a crowd of people at a non smoking event where no one else in the whole stadium is smoking ? Yeah yeah we get it, you’re rebels no one’s telling you what to do blah blah blah…

Try telling that to everyone I see or smell on the road smoking weed. It happens way too often. Sometimes when customers come into our business they absolutely wreak of it. And the first thing I think other than the terrible smell...A cop has instant probable cause to search you for drugs when its so pungent. The dumbest crowd smokes weed. What's wrong with taking it as pills if its medicinal? Smoke it at home, I don't care. Out in public...absolutely not. And I better not smell even smell it on you. This is no different that second hand smoke. Half the people smell like they're rolling in it. Its just beyond disgusting and unnecessary.

All those people you see or smell smoking weed on the road? An equal number of drivers have been, or currently are, consuming an adult beverage.

Scary place out on those roads.

Nah people don't drink and drive, that's illegal. Just like the major success of the "war on drugs".

I use to enjoy tobacco and alcohol. Quit for several reasons. I've been raw dog sober for 2 years. I miss having a vice. More so I miss the moments of changing my perspective and state of mind to literally chill in my thoughts. Vices are a silent companion to just do nothing with. I would like to mix up some tobacco and weed in a old man pipe and sit on my porch and watch the sun go down.

But in order to keep my job, I can't. We are randomly hair tested. I live in a legal state. but weed would have to be federally legal for my employer to change policy.

I’m not a fan of the smell myself, but as long as it isn’t smoke in my face I view that as my problem, not anyone else’s.

But to be honest, you’ve always struck me as one of those douches who bathes themselves in AXE body spray, and that’s far more offensive than a little whiff of weed.

As far as smell  goes...

My machinist teacher back in the day was cool with cig smoke,  his reasoning being that you were already enhaling welding smoke and cutting oil fumes...to bitch about Marbolro was bit rediculous

Why does the weed today smell so nasty?  As I remember 20 to 40 years ago the good stuff smelled different.

It's gotten stronger.  It's just how they grow it and have evolved it.  Stronger the smell higher the THC content is,that's what some folks say.

I went to Maryland, where is legal and bought the best stuff they had. I thought it sucked compared to the stuff we used to smoke. I quit about 20 years ago, but we were smoking super silver haze and it was awesome and smelled wonderful.

Now I am a rebel? Hahaha. A shark smelling blood? Why? Because I stood up for them? What fantasies are you living in your head to come up with these "situations"? I think you might need to pump the brakes just a tad.

The real answer is that the track going to be "ridden into the ground" and get shut down because of Karens like yourself complaining about EVERYTHING you dont like.

I didn't bring up alcohol...but its a weak ass comparison. Beer doesn't fill the entire room with bullshit smoke that smells like ass. Alcohol is clearly an impairment substance just like weed, that's why they brought it up. So why is an impairment drug allowed while driving vehicles on the road where innocent people are?

Where do you get the notion that it’s ‘allowed’ while driving?  In Washington, even though cannabis is legal you can be arrested for even having it in your glove compartment. Any cannabis is treated like an open container of alcohol and if it’s accessible to anyone in the car while driving then it’s illegal.

Wrong. Well at least in Michigan

An opinion from the Michigan Supreme Court last week ruled that because pot is legal to purchase in the state for adults, law enforcement cannot justify searching an individual even if they can smell it.

Big picture view:

In a significant ruling handed down by Michigan's high court, the smell of weed can no longer be the sole cause behind law enforcement establishing probable cause in order to search someone's motor vehicle.

Siding with a lower court ruling, the 5-1 decision marks a major shift in police policy when it comes to how they approach the early stages of investigations.

Man you really didn't pay attention to Sumdoods post. He never said you were a rebel. You call him a Karen while you give Karen attacks with not paying attention to what he wrote. Either you are one of the Harley crowd that was there or you just want to get worked up. And truth be told every person who enjoys riding motorcycles, no matter what discipline, will at some point be looked down on because of the Harley crowd. And by no means do I mean everyone who rides a Harley is an asshat. But so many people that ride Harleys have little experience and just think they are a badass because of it. I suggest reread what he said and have a snickers.

... and you didnt pay attention to mine.

Why are we talking about Harleys or their "crowds"

I didnt say ANYTHING about Harleys. Nothing. I think they are lame but I dont hate the people that ride them just because they enjoy them.

Im ONLY talking about people attending a motorsports event OUTSIDE and then complaining about cig smoke. Thats it. Thats my complaint. There is nothing else "veiled or hidden" in my comment.

I never implied or said the word Harley in any way and now another person jumps in and says that I am talking about harleys or their "crowd". Wut?

Im going to go outside and smoke a cig and calm down now. 🤣
