So just before the post race press conference kicked off the lady behind the mic said she wanted to make an announcement and it was that quote:

“8 of the 10 most streamed sx races of all time have happened this year and also compared to the same time in 2024 there has been a 21% increase in viewership.”

Thats actually huge growth from one year to the next. 21% increase in viewership from the year before is massive. Something theyre doing is working. A personal anecdote from tonight I expected nobody to show up due to the mudfest/cold/rain but when we got to the parking lot I could not believe it, it was just as packed as its ever been. The stadium also had an absolute massive amount of people for how bad the conditions were, and there was actually way more there than in the stands cuz a lot of ppl went to the standing areas to get out of the rain. I could not believe how many ppl went to a mudfest sx. The viewership absolutely seems to be growing a lot and thats awesome.

SMX is helping a bit.  Deegs is helping. But the main stars in the 450 class havnt retired at 27 years old. I think that’s been key to growth

I think streaming in the other countries is helping.

Everyone is tuning in to get important insight from Ricky.

In spite of the production, not because of, but this is the part where the corporate overlords take it as a signal to double down on the corny stuff that no other respectable sport does. "See it's working! Let's pat ourselves on the back"

Nothing to do with that imo , it’s to do with the global broadcast

Yeah, this coming from NBC themselves.

Right up there with, "the pole's show this election being neck and neck"

For those on the east coast not having to start watching at 10:30 pm and staying up until 1:30 am means a lot. Starting most of the races early makes it easier for the whole family to get involved.

Deegs has a direct correlation here

Definitely. I’m sure the spanish broadcast and french broadcast are also helping tap into new markets as well.

I can see that helping but I would often watch the show Sunday morning. I wonder  how that counts toward the numbers. Of course, this is the only sport I follow so I’m sure the average viewer wouldn’t take the time to watch the next day, so you may be on to something.

Specifically those wanting to play drinking games off the Rickyisms.  lol.

Pretty sure the earlier start times has a lot to do with it.  I know when I lived back East, riding day was Saturday and after a full day at the track it was hard to stay awake to watch the race even as a diehard fan. I typically watched the replay first thing Sunday morning.

Hhhmmmmm…. Nobody’s going to the movies on Saturdays anymore, and Peacock is ridiculously cheap. I’m sure stats are up across the board for Peacock. Supercross is the same show and content as it has been for years, more people are not all of a sudden into Supercross.

I personally know 3 people who were not sx fans before but have become fans within the last probably 3 years. Anecdotal evidence, but it is happening.

My take - you have to "Stream" on Peacock to see the majority of the races now so, by default, the streaming numbers are now high.  How many races during the year can now be watched on a network rather than streaming - only a few.

Adding a French and Spanish Broadcast is also a great addition.  Maybe more languages to come?

That’s where it’s coming from , anyone who thinks it’s up 20 percent because of deegan is a idiot , don’t get me wrong his got his YouTube army but thats not adding much to the 20 percent in my opinion

It is also a close points battle for the chips. Tough to watch when it is a runaway season by one guy.

This is the type of thing that they SHOULD be pumping up, both the moto media and on the broadcast.  Gypsy Tales was right when he said that they should talk about the purse payouts and other things like this before kicking off the post-race presser.  It sounds trivial, but these sort of small things further legitimize the sport.

Considering the races are mostly streamed, there's no reason why there can't be a post-race show where they interview other riders?  Sexton crashes and finishes 19th?  Let's hear why.  Random privateer makes their first main and finishes top 10?  Give him his 30 seconds.  Sometimes they do this, but it is in no way consistent.

Not only east coast. We europeans finally don't have to stay awake until frikkin 4-5 am in the morning every weekend until the main show even starts.

On top of that as other people already said, streaming makes things way easier now and and finally not just for those that use a VPN.

Stories like this are good to hear as well. What time do europeans have to stay up until now to watch with the earlier start time? Do a lot of ppl just watch on sunday because it sounds like youd still have to stay up until 1-2am?

East coast races usually start around 9 pm now and west coast races around 1 am which is ok for me at least. Sometimes I only watch RDL and then the night show replay on sunday when I wake up, but I rarely miss races now since the earlier starting time.

I know folks hate to hear this, but Deegan is responsible for a large portion of that growth…

They have 1.4M subscribers on YouTube alone..

To think otherwise is letting your personal feelings get in the way of this fact.

This doesn’t make any sense to me. Several  influencers on this forum said the production was so bad they weren’t going to watch anymore. 🤔

We need better picture quality from Peacock. I feel like i am going backwards in time.

We have influencers on this forum? Hell, we're big time then! Uhh, who are they? 🙃

I haven’t had problems with quality. As a matter of fact, It seems like they upgraded cameras this year because the  quality has been better. You should make sure it’s not your app or WiFi.

Thats huge if an entire continent can now watch the races at a decent time vs before having to stay up to 5am.
