so 85 Aprilia,Maico,Kawasaki,KTM, 86 Honda,Suzuki, 87 Husqvarna,Yamaha and 88 Cagiva 250's are legal AHRMA veapon now?

Not If it's going to be a support class but the new rules should be out in vintageviews (AHRMA magazine) in Sept.

So your telling me this bad boy is legal ? Thanks to Scott for this one, ( crappy pix from my phone. ) I went for the GP-look. You can tell the new leadership is in at AHRMA. I remember in '96 at AHRMA race at Swan they did not even want anything to do with Evo bikes. Let us have a moto at the end of the program. Thankfully to Big Daddy Rick H. of Evo Sports he had the vision to think outside the box and has given us Evo/GP/Ultima/Disco riders a place to race and have fun for close to 20 years now. We came up with our own "Disco" class years ago to give the bikes up to '89 a place to race. Man, I hope this comes to pass as will give me another option to take to the races/

Rhett- My old bike looks awesome ! I miss it

The front disc brake class is a done deal-The Info is coming from a AHRMA member that was there at the meeting and voted. I'm not sure about the details, it could be a support class but It's a great starting point anyway you look at it !

Wow don't hold your breathe on that, this seems like it will be a great class, but hell its AHRMA. I thought motocross was suppose to be a family sport you can be under 16 in trials but not in any of the vintage and PV stuff, WTF. Again it is AHRMA. This class will bring people in then they will kill it off. It will be interesting to see the rule book they release for this class.

From what I understand it will be 125-250-500 separate classes but no different levels for the first year. Then I believe in 2012 it will be a full program. I also heard it will start at Budscreek race this year. This is coming from a very good source.

So AHRMA is saying that they are going take Chuck Sun, Brad Lackey, Danny LaPorte, Billy Liles and Trampas Parker, (all either world or national champions or MXDN riders)on the fastest, most evolved, bikes and run them in the same class as Joe Novice in his first race. Boy do I feel sorry for Joe!

That is not only unfair, it's dangerous!

Leave it to AHRMA to take a good thing and SCREW IT UP!!!

Wow...you dug deep for that rant!

If the moon and stars aligned just right and the "morons" at AHRMA were able to pull together Sun, Lackey, Laporte, Liles and Parker all on the same day, in the same class... more power to them!

Who knows Joe Novice might even end up feeling honored to be on the same track as those guys since we're not talking about winning any cash or having sponsorship deals hanging in the balance.

Lighten up and be happy that they're looking at expanding into a new era of bikes.

it's bound to happen - as the years go by, these bikes ain't getting any newer - we will see fewer of the truly older bikes, and these beasts will take their rightful place in vintage racing.... this is going to rock!!!

WE have had a GP4 class here with CALVMX for a few years now that allows disc brakes front and rear. It is 84 bikes to 89 for the most part. We usually get a turnout of about 120 or more riders at our events. I thought that AHRMA was long gone a few years ago?

I guess it is good to see that they are changing with the times. The bikes in our club range from about 1970 to 1989. We have a modern class for 4 strokes and bikes after 1989.

The TVRC here in North Texas runs +10 and +20 year old bike classes in addition to the usual vintage and post vintage classes. The turnout is always good for them.

here's the cutout text of the proposed ruling:

Section 12: PVMX
Section 12.1 – Historic-Classes and Eligibility
Overall – Proposal to adjust the cutoff years to 10 & 20 years of current models to allow more bikes to
be eligible. Committee: YES. Board: YES: Vote: 11/1 to accept the change and add “Pre-Modern”
support class for up to 3 years. Fred G. to write up specs for class and work with the board to establish
the specific year range for bikes in this class.
Fred G suggested that this would bring in new blood. Dave J cautioned that this would potentionally
mean the addition of at least 3 new classes. Dave L said that there are classes were current participation
is extremely low and they could be removed. Corky wanted the group to remember that we need to
preserve what we have but look forward and build a new base of both riders and bikes.
Kelly moved to allow a “Pre-Modern class as a support class for up to 3 years with open skill level. This
new class would be a non-points class and would be for PVMX only. Fred G 2nd. Matt was opposed.
Additional motion was made to exclude the 10-20 year suggestion. Vote 12/0 to NOT accept the 10-20
year suggestion.

That's too cool! I just bought a '95 CR250 to race in the TVRC's decade class, which is always a big class. I went with a '95 because I figure in five years, when the four strokes show up, it will be a good +20 class bike, which is another very popular TVRC class.

I was just checking. After getting our asses handed to us last year I thought a little chalk board material might help us out next month. I hear the new track is like a longer, wider, and improved version of the Huddle House track. Should be fun. I had a blast last year and look forward to seeing the SEVMX gang again.
