I think it is more about a visor grabbing things and twisting the head/neck. I think we can agree that is bad all around?

What would a visor grab onto though? In what scenario are we assuming a breakaway visor mitigates risk?
Tree branches, other bikes, the ground. It is basically a shovel in dirt. They are only breaking away because something grabbed onto them enough to pull them off. They don’t come off all that easy when you change them. They can also take enough force to crack without snapping all the way off.

Last time I checked there weren't many tree branches in SX/MX.
If the offroad world don't you use your visor as a tool for tree branches and roost? Seems like a major detriment that you would lose it rather than having to push it back into place.

lol I was thinking about this thread as sexton got up and the flagger tossed his visor to the side of the track. We almost need to add a sexton asterisk as a side note. Most of these must belong to him.

I think we need to make a tech-air inflation count too. Looks like they're following the same philosophy as the visor, I think a strong gust of wind would set that thing off
