never owned a 4 stroke before...do now. :D

so what prep do ya'll recommend?

Congrats on the new ride! Give it the normal steering stem lube, swingarm, and linkage lube. Put it in 3rd gear and cruise control.

oil the airfilter before you ride it.

after the first 10 minutes of riding just check over seat, sidepanel, fender bolts for tightness.

have fun and watch out for whiskey throttle on that thing!

(and sell the steering dampner to hillbilly, i hear he's looking for one)

Mike, just check the spokes, especially those adjacent to the rim locks, every time you pit, for the first 2-3 hours of ride time. No break-in is required. Just ride it like you normally ride, then change the oil and oil filter after the first day. If you ride RV tomorrow, there won't be any dust so don't worry about re-oiling the air filter. Don't worry about greasing the bearings either. There is plenty of grease in there from the factory, contrary to popular belief.

never hurts to check, my steering stem was a tiddle bit dry on mine... and keep those wheels true.

I always like to give my bikes a once over when they are new. Just about finished my 450 RM-Z last nite, greased the linkage, swing arm and steering stem, it's so much easier when it is new and dirt free. Once I ride it I keep a close eye on the spokes for the first few rides, they seem to loosen very quickly. On a different note, I wonder who designs the air box's on these things - they should be required to change a dirty filter without getting dirt in the air boot.

I think Hillbilly's exact words on the dampner were. "Chunk it" lmao


Read the manual use the right oils and fluids and service often. Have fun. Honda's seem to have loose spokes for the first 4 or 5 rides keep an eye on them.

Very cool scooter, and ignore the 2banger rhetoric!!! They've got plugged exhaust valves and fouled plugs. <img class= " title="Laughing"> If they were so good the pros would be racing them. Afetr each of your first few ride, check the timimg chain tension. That's the most common engine killer.

An hour meter takes the guess work out of staying on top of oil and air filter changes.

My ride time estimates tend to be off compared to the actual time logged by my hour meter.

So, I got it out on the backyard track today. It's been a while since my last ride and I was tight from the time I took it off the stand. It's a beast with hp to spare that's for sure. We've had a lot of rain so I had pretty good traction. The creek crossing is wet and I couldn't do the jump out of the creek (almost went over my little jump sideways trying it).

It was a lot of fun though. I could lay it in to the turns and just roll on power for days. Gotta change my riding style just a bit. Get off the rear brake. I really like the way it feels overall. Gonna take some getting used to. Never riden an AL frame so it seemed pretty stiff.

I won't say I'm converted to 4 strokes all around, but I am really happy with this purchase.
