Hes gonna need one more bad race from the new Dungey if he wants a shot at the title.

The way its worded is kinda confusing. Is mookie a threat to win another race? Absolutely. Is he a threat to win the championship? Not unless webb and sexton crash out.

We aren't even at Daytona yet; any current SX winner on the line is a title threat- how could you say they are not unless >100pts down? And Malcolm's stock is rising!

It wasn't a mud race freak win; it was on a normal (though somewhat bad) track.

A threat doesn't mean that he's the expected championship winner.

He's the same as Plessinger or Barcia now. Capable of winning if he's on it that night, but we're probably only going to see that level a few times per year. Still a great step up for him after 2023-2024.

I'm definitely hoping he can ride this momentum into more podiums and maybe another win.

AP and in general the bakers factory guys a bit invisible this year. Maybe with Tomac out now theres a chance for more of those guys to elevate

Yeah, what round was it where he broke his femur blitzing 15 whoops?

So you believe blitzing 15 "monster sized" whoops by 22 riders is sustainable from a safety perspective...

Pretty sad that "fans" demand blood all in the name of their personal entertainment.

That happened because Sexton KNEW he couldn't stop Mookie in the whoops. He heard him coming, lost focus, and ate it. Webb couldn't catch Mookie and Webb was flying up through the pack as well. IF Mookie can be consistent over the last rounds, plus win 3-4, I think he has a legit shot at the title. I don't know who I'd rather have win - Webb, Kenny, or Mookie. Bummer we lost our top 2, but there's lots of racing left. Let the best man win.

Confidence is dangerous. I guess we will see!!!

Combine newly found confidence with the coaching abilities of his team (JS7 and JS7 Sr.) and you have a recipe to be a championship contender.  I know the saying is a "Leopard never changes it's spots" but we have seen breakouts from certain riders, like Chase Sexton for example.

If Malcolm can ride like that and avoid his usual mishaps, I believe he'll be battling for wins.

Yes, that’s why I put that caveat there.

I'll add the caveat that there is an absolute zero fucking chance he'll win any more this year if his bike doesn't have 2 wheels on it.

Well my apologies if I misunderstood.      I read it like you were advocating for the 15 whoops.        My bad.

It is true that many want the monster whoops without having any regard for rider safety.

He could get on the box this week, or finish 10th and neither would surprise me.

Lol, I can't even think of something as dumb as that guy said, but you are getting close 😂

No worries - I was just pointing out that long whoops sections will get even the best of them. It was 2019 Glendale whoops that got Mookie and he broke his femur crashing at the end of them. https://racerxonline.com/2019/01/13/malcolm-stewart-injury-update

They are a separator and they were for sure last weekend at Tampa. I dread the whoops every time I come thru the woods at Washougal - I know I am going to suck but my ego won't let me ride the escape line next to them.

I had forgotten about the Glendale crash.        Spot on, even the best get bit.    Whoops are a cool feature, but they don't need to be a career/season ending design in racing.          Sand is also a separator and a hell of a lot safer.   I'd like to see more sand used in SX tracks.

I don't know how old you are...but age tends to override the ego the older you get.   🤣

I'd say Kenny is a notch above Mookie on an average Saturday.  Jason can be as well.  So 5 guys that know what they're doing going at it like mad men.

It's not the season we expected or wanted maybe but still has potential.

I really do think Mookie is a legit threat. He's always had the speed but needed to stay healthy & maybe gain some more condifence and believe in himself that he can win.  Now that he has finally won that's a huge weight off his shoulders and a massive boost to his confidence. The feeling of showing up to the races hoping you might get lucky and podium compared to showing up and believing you can win is such a massive gap.  You walk different, think different, look at the track different, you just feel a natural swagger.

With all the injuries and him getting the win last week, I would be shocked if he didn't win more races this season. Hell he might even be my favorite this week.

They were big,  yes.

We've still had tougher sections 20+ years ago.

If Malcolm won a sx450 title before Ken, can you imagine the world wide meltdown?!?! OK, our tiny world.
