Same here. I expect he'll win 9 or 10 of the remaining races and clinch early. I'd be happy to be wrong, though!

It begs the question why everyone else didn’t just train to gain a second before? That seems like a huge oversight on their part

Eli fan here. The idea that we should call out Jett for a sophmore slump after one race is just silly. Even if you count the overseas races, it’s way too early for that !

The Lawrences seem to be more adept at bike setup than most, including most definitely Chase. That said the bike needs work. One of the commentators said the bike would likely get worse as the track went away and he was spot on. But they'll get this figured out.

He'll have a 10 point lead in by round 7.

You heard it here first. In my inner circles I’ve been expecting a Jett slump but here’s my hot take out in the wild.

- everybody trained to gain a second over the offseason.
- Lawrence bros were busy racing around the world instead of training to get faster.
- Jett is under a tremendous amount of public and racer pressure.
- new Honda with not much seat time.

Im guessing the top 3ish guys have caught up on speed, Jett being under public pressure, now he’s under racing pressure. On top of that, he’s got a new bike that they hardly had time on.

He might bring it around by the end of the season but I expect a slump early on.

Who gives a shit Jett’s slump, extra offseason racing, or social media he reads that makes him sensitive, he’s a racer. Don’t make excuses for him. You think he’s the only factory guy who jumped on a new bike and didn’t have issues.
Don’t make excuses for him. You are a Jett fan he doesn’t need. Your Mr excuse, your probably make excuses for your under performance at your job.

Get over it, it’s round 1

Deegan's 5th place with one crash, Jett's 12th place with 2 crashes (or one tuffblock entanglement and one tip over) when both were expected to win.

Last year after round 4 he was 4th in points with a single podium. Just saying.

I seem to recall several mud races early in the season last year and that had an impact on his start to the season.  He still looked good on the bike, when it wasn't a slopfest.  This year, even when laying down fast lap times in qualifying, he still doesn't look normal on the bike.  I'm sure he will still be fast and figure it out at some point, but the start of last year was different than A1.

Both definitely underperformed, but there’s been lots of talk in other threads about Deegan and Jett’s underperformance was more shocking

If he’s still finishing outside of the top 5 at the halfway mark, then he’s in a slump. But not yet.

Unfortunately some people want Jett to fail instead of wanting the best man (whoever it may be) to win.

I guess it comes with the territory of being as good as Jett, but hopefully he can block it out and just keep doing what he does best.

Not a Jett hater by any means but I am glad he didn't win. Just for the fact that if he gets comfortable and confident it could turn into a boring points race real quick. I don't want to see any one rider dominate and pull a huge points lead and he's definitely a threat to do that. I don't think A1 with a funky start and a bike that's not quite dialed is a good enough yardstick to say he's in a slump. Just my 2 cents.  Lets see how San Diego goes. I'm kind of bummed AP isn't going to get a slopfest this year !😄

They raced Paris and Aus, for those two races they away from the compound for maybe a week and half, two tops.  IMO Jett is still the fastest guy in the premier class, by a tick, I do think everyone else is riding better than ever though.  They seem to be struggling with the bike a tad, is unrideable? No.  But its off just a little.  Give Jett a top 5 start and I think he would've at the very least given Chase a run for his money.  He'll still win the championship...  this is coming from someone who isn't really a fan of him.

I thought the best man did  win.

Why would you praise him yet not call a bad performance such?

I’m gonna be honest I have no explanation for that qualifying time, the fact he threw down something that competitive without complete trust in his bike is insane, but even before the contact with Ando he looked tentative in the heat race. Yes it’s unfair to expect them to lay waste every single race but this wasn’t just you’re regular weird ride, this was an Elito Mac level weird ride which I don’t think we’ve ever seen from Jett. I agree Hunter was somewhat competitive on the opening laps but it really seemed to fall apart at around 5 minutes into the race and he looked tentative aswell. The fact they had an ‘off-night’ on the same night shows there’s at least somethin going on.

I think these guys (doubly so Jett) are so good, they can get amazing single lap times on anything.

Yep! Energy & skill can ride around a slight jiggle for 1 minute.
It’s the energy required to make it work for 20 minutes which is more difficult

The huntah delta (tm)...how far ahead of big bro is he in pace. If the delta inverts, our moto universe may implode.

Can't remember the last time folks drank more of their own kool-aid. This is not something you can fix in a week.

Hunter said he felt good until he went down. No issue with the bike he mentioned. Jett is done being Mr. Niceguy. I only can think that was directed @JA21.

I don’t believe the first one to be a “crash” but if it helps your narrative have at it I guess

Thread creator here. Welp, guess we can end that theory. I don’t think he was 100% last night but he’s back to being at the top.

Damn, maybe I was on to something after all. I never would want to see him hurt. He was riding on the edge, making mistakes all night.
