Mirtl strikes me as a guy that watched the first half  of Wolf of Wall Street a few too many times.

Mentioned in the other thread, Mirtl comes off bad in this interview and his social post defending himself. Have no clue how it got his slimy claws on the bros, assuming Dazzy was blinded by him being a fellow countryman and let his guard down to not see through his 💩

Matthes on the side of his business connections, I don't think good/evil has much play. You make him money, and you're on his good side.

I think underneath all the over the top ball busting and random crazy takes, Steve is a legitimately good guy and wants to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. In my opinion he doesn't dig deep enough on some things (like Rich Taylor and EKS for example) or else he'd change his mind.

But I don't think he's being intentionally blind for the sake of the money. Mirtl makes him ZERO dollars as far as I know, so maybe he just wanted to get his side?

Don't get me wrong, Steve pisses me off often with his nonsense, but ultimately he has great content and I think he'd be a great guy to grab a beer with at the end of the day.

My take - No way they are pulling the pin on this without concrete evidence.  Way too big of a firm with unlimited legal resources.

I don't think it's as calculating as any of that.

Steve's just gonna bring on his connections, and if they've helped the show, he's just going to platform it and not ask any questions: "Ha ha, man. I don't know about any of that stuff. This is just a janky dirt bike podcast. Speaking of dirt bikes, Maxima oils has everything you need to keep yours running..."

Lol I can't disagree with any of that either. Steve likes to play Switzerland, that's for sure.

Exactly. Like Steve said if Wasserman puts a statement out that’s not a good look because they aren’t going to just react to accusations. This is how I read between the lines of what Steve was saying.

You can be an authorize user on an account but that doesn't mean the money is yours. You here about controllers all of the time getting in trouble for embezzlement. They have access and have to use business accounts for payments/payroll/whatever then they help themselves to some of the money as well

Brother spent all of Jett's bonus on Aerotyne penny stocks, a high-tech firm out of the mid-West awaiting patent approval. This bold move did not play out well, Cotton.

I don't think he's really Switzerland, though. He is an industry shill, and unapologetically so. Which is fine.

The issue is that there is no actual motocross media, and, in its absence, fans misguidedly expect Steve to surrogate that role. That, of course, is a problem of expectations of the audience, not Pulp, who is doing exactly what they profess to do: just being a janky dirt bike podcast.

Is it just me or does he kind of look like Jonah Hill in that movie also

No way, really???

Just because I have a corporate CC doesn't mean I can buy whatever I want?

This is the difference between basic theft and embezzlement. Nobody is saying he can do what he wants if he has access. The hinge pin I mentioned is referencing this, and the fact a civil lawsuit is also MUCH stronger in the case of embezzlement, even though that's a criminal term.

The waters are more muddy here than in the case of a controller, because as their agent he would be acting as their proxy in business matters. A controller using funds for a private jet is SOL, an agent has a lot of ways to explain that away as a business expense.

They didn’t exactly highlight it as a talking point ahead of time on the live broadcast but I’m listening this morning and Lucas is sure doing his best to garner sympathy.  He was mostly saying he feels blindsided and talking about how appalled he is.  Again didn’t exactly address that it “didn’t happen and I’ve done nothing wrong” or “it’ll get sorted because I didn’t do anything wrong and it’s a misunderstanding”

Not super convincing from my perspective but of course that’s just speculation.  I’m kinda bummed Steve decided to give this dude a platform especially before there’s more info.  I like Steve but they announced it publicly because legal advisors often suggest severing ties as a first step

So the Lawrence’s threw a bombshell out accusing the guy of committing crimes, and you are disappointed that Steve Matthes let him come on his show to speak?

That’s a strange take.

Mirtl is a genius.

All of his retarding around is helping build a case that he is ignorant, not a criminal.

After seeing his social posts and hearing the interview there is no way anyone would think that guy should have access to anything important, putting the blame back on WMG.        Good luck suing yourselves!

I don't see what issue people have with Steve's handling of this. He said Mirtl texted and asked to be on the show, it's a huge news topic, Steve was very open about the fact that Mirtl's his friend, and then Mirtl's demeanor didn't really allow him to dig much deeper. Once Mirtl was off the phone Steve said the facts so far don't look good, but Mirtl's innocent until proven otherwise. Seems to me that's about all you can do.

Why?   Is Darren or their possible new management mad that Steve had Lucas on the show?

It's the guilty until proven innocent crowd. Good news is no one takes those people seriously anymore.

I do not agree with the public lynching that happens a lot of times on Social Media and sites like this. He deserves due diligence, and to speak his side. Unfortunately it seems like he is doing more harm then good when he does say/ type anything.

this exactly. he has the OG Kdub esque business development side down...but also seemingly the OG KDub level of neuroticism as well. not doing a great job of selling himself at all.

He sounded like he was just doing stuff around the house, but I couldn't really tell one way or another from such a short conversation with no ability to go into detail. He didn't ring the obviously-lying-bell to me and he took the right position if you were innocent, but with people these days being so comfortable with being a scumbag right to your face, who knows. I'd like to hear what more of an insider like ML has to say, but I imagine these folks don't see much of an upside to taking public positions. Plus, if the position isn't in favor of the Lawrence's, who on earth would want a gaggle of Bieber fans coming after you.

on Kellen's show, he implied the claimed damages are extremely substantial, such that the Feds will be getting involved. Don't know if this is all inference on his part or if there's a little more info out there he's provy to. either way, I don't think LMs attempts at minimizing will be of any use once it all comes out.

off topic, but how many people know that Ducati USA got completely raided by the feds a couple years ago?

Is Steve in possession of the evidence? What can you really know without being omniscient? My instinctual feeling is that Mirtl did some shady shit, but I would never claim to know because I have nothing to go off other than the statements by Lawrence and WMG. I don't think it's totally farfetched to imagine that he had a falling out with the Lawrences and that he did nothing illegal but did enough to get fired with cause by WMG. That kind of shit happens all the time to bad coaches in football. It's possible he did something that violates company policy but not the law and they fired him with cause and they'll settle it all out of court, and it's worth it for WMG to lose him in order to keep the Lawrences happy.

Both parties can benefit by pursuing only a civil action seeking disgorgement and/or payment of ‘damages.’
Only one party is in a position to use the threat of criminal action as a point of leverage—-and it isn’t Mirtl.
But then, if Mirtl has the ‘goods’ (civil or criminal) on WMG and/or the Lawrence then WMG/Lawrences lose this angle.
Should be interesting to watch play out.

El Capitan predicts a confidential settlement and we will never know the details.

The DA’s office won’t play nicely with either side, so there is also this wild card…

Respectfully submitted.

El Capitan, Esq.
