Oh man!  Was hoping it was "just" a broken bone or something.  Hopefully he's back on the bike soon!

I wonder that too. Hard to image why these guys wouldn’t all wear one.  The new a stars are super comfortable and protect pretty well.

The lack of decent upper body protection worn by these guys baffles me. Sure they are not super comfortable but neither are knee braces. Many riders wear knee braces. I wear both for off road riding. You get used to what ever you wear. Would a quality chest protector really lessen body damage from a really big hit? Who knows, as every hit is different. But...

Have we ever gotten confirmation on what kind of injuries he has? All the get well messages on social media seem to be a little more than what you see for the usual stuff.

From what I've heard he has some internal injuries along with a broken elbow. .They did surgery on him the day of the accident but they haven't been saying just how bad his injuries are but I did hear which someone already commented about his intestines..Hopefully he makes a full recovery and picks up where he left off cuz he was starting to look like his old self on the bike again.

He just posted a story on his IG of an incision stitched up from the top of his belly button and down a bit. Hopefully he is able to bounce back is ok in the long run.

What does he mean by "it wouldn't surprise me"? As far as I can remember, GasGas doesn't have a history of bikes blowing up because of mechanics half-assing engine work.

I was thinking he meant because of the financial issues but that’s just a guess.

There was a failure of something that sent him into the face of a triple. Engine, chain, electrical something

Glad Logan was able to put a stop to the false news. Last thing Ryder and the team needs is a bunch of BS making things shittier for them.

Well, if true then the mechanic responsible for Ryders bike is deep in the shit.

Firstly, as a race mechanic myself, my drain plug would not come loose and fall out. If it had and the bike ran without oil for however long then I'd condemn the engine. There would be no fucking way I'd let anyone ride the bike.

I find it really hard to believe the above post. It's bad enough letting your drain plug fall out. Then to go on and let Ryder get on the bike after topping the oil up is a fucking new level of madness. I can't believe the mechanic was that stupid. The bike belongs to the mechanic and it is his call whether to run it or not.

If true then I guess gross negligence will send him to the dog box.

Edit - I've just seen a comment by Logan and it confirms what I have thought. No mechanic is that stupid therefore it's something else that failed out of Logan's control.

Agree, but do ya think a team guy is going to say yup drain plug fell out or this broke. No there going to cover it up and say something like electrical issue. Until Ryder comes out and says what happened we won’t know.

That scenario for a mechanic would be shit.

If my drain plug fell out then I guess I'd own it and condemn the engine. What else can you really do?

You simply can't take the chance by topping the oil up and sending a guy out on the bike.

Edit - yes, most likely the team will send out a cover PR without much info as to the actual cause of the failure.

I'm a a belt AND suspenders kinda guy.  Unless the mechanics are changing oil between sessions where speed might be a factor...Just safety wire the plug and worry no more.

Yes, I read the thread.  The plug fell out...it did NOT fall out...he crashed and you (we) don't need to know why.  Whatever.  Heal up good D...that's some gnarly shit.

The "we don't owe anyone anything" thing is so cringe in these situations. You get paid well to race a motorcycle because people care. I get that putting out the press release isn't your primary concern, but getting snippy with people because they care when them caring is why you're getting paid to live out your dream is just not a great look.
