Just make them out of that pool float foam. Stick dry wipe or chalk material on the face of them and call it a day. Windy days might be fun though haha

Wait one damn minute! Are you saying that IT’S NOT THE RIDERS FAULT when someone OFF THE TRACK actually HITS THE RIDER WITH A PIT-BOARD?

HOW DARE YOU! 😂

Seems to me the RIDER is on the track and has the right of way. In what world is that not obvious?🤔

So, aside from all my sarcastic bs…I’ve got to ask: what the hell is wrong with some of these people?

"Seems to me the RIDER is on the track and has the right of way. In what world is that not obvious?"

Exactly,Manny!

I don't know that some of these folks on here have ever raced seriously, or even been involved in the sport for any lengthy amount of time(having kids that raced ect..)..

All I know is that...

If it was me who got my fingers broken the same way jo did, I'd of been livid at that mechanic (rightfully so)!

And back when I raced my father would've been 10X's more livid at that mechanic   lol.

It’s a one off incident, no need to change the entire sport, maybe just don’t put the mechanics on the outside of a fast berm

A few races back, the riders needed to dodge the 30 second girl, who was crossing the track. No need to change the rule book, isolated incident, and she did a lot of apologizing 👍

I remember a time where gloves were designed to protect your fingers, not to (generate and) practice surgery...

If someone threw a beer can at Jo’s head some of y’all would still claim it was his fault for being where the beer can was flying. JFC, a pitboard or mechanic is not an obstacle the riders are meant to take on. It was 100% the fault of the mechanic.

It’s so absurd that it’s almost funny that this mechanic thought it was so important to tell his rider he was sitting 12th in qualifying after 2 minutes that he took out the current points leader because his head was so far up his own ass. Idiot.

Do away with them.
Put a AMA/promoter provided screen on the crossbar pad like the transponder AMA/promoter controls.
Teams can only provide limited info like place and lap times and the message look and feel are controlled and repeatable rider/rider and team/team. These guys are pros and won’t look unless they want to at a safe time. Some of them admit to not looking at pitboards anyways.

I think you are going to find it's rider interference. You didn't mean to run the red light, BOOM...

The wreck was still your fault and you get a ticket.

This. Tough blocks are soft. Why not pit boards?  Risk averted and problem solved w/o a major rules change.

No need to get crazy. Position mechanics such that boards do not reach to track. Do NOT add radios.

Why does a racer need lap times in the middle of a race? This isn't rocket science, gate drops, go fast till you see a checkered flag.

What makes this even worse is it was during QUALIFYING!  Riders look up at the screen and see their lap times.  Can you imagine if it had been Jett?  This place would go nuclear.  Many blowing it off now would be saying it was the biggest crime of the century.  Whoever won the title would be illegitimate.  People….the series leader just got taken out of the championship.  It’s a big deal.

Have to figure this out. How else is a professional racer going to remember to BREATHE or be SMOOTH or get other critical information like how far the guy he sees after every bowl turn is behind him?

Plz stop it , haha. It looks gnarly but it’s a pinky & next finger .  My pinky is 98% numb & threw my hand, next finger is 85% numb going threw my hand. You don’t use those 2 fingers much for riding.  I broke a lot of fingers I just taped it & worked 7 days a week on the hhg rig. For these big money races I would injected it , tape it & race. I smashed my middle finger end off in Cal. On the hhg rig.  That finger does much more than a pinky .

Has anyone considered the sports betting aspect?

Jo won last week , so I’m sure there was a lot of money put down Prior to the event.

Does betting slowly influence the way racing is conducted?

Funny part is, As wild as this is. I could 100% see a betting scandal happening at one point in SX’s future 😂😂

It seems like most racers say they don't  look at the pit board.

It is 100% on the people responsible for putting the mechanics barrier within arm's reach of the racing path. I've seen riders get hit in the head with pitboards before. That s just too close. The mechanics shouldn't be that close to the track. There should be at least a 6' gap for their safety and for the riders. You wouldn't park a dozer that close to the racing path, so why park a line of 15 mechanics there?

Yea…I remember Anderson, after a really good race, being asked if a specific message on the pit board had made a difference.  He laughed and said he literally never looks at the pit board.  It seems to make mechanics feel important during the race more than help riders.  Move them back with a double barrier, or do away with it.  I don’t want radios since I feel a rider figuaring out the track is a big part of the race.  AMA just also needs to take serious riders ignoring flags….including the blue ones.  Once lapped your race is so much less important that you need to just get the hell out of the way…or be removed from the race….so….get out of the way.  Friese…I am personally penalizing you a 3 race suspension….please don’t show up.

Like I mentioned in the pitboard/radio communication thread. This wouldn’t even be a topic if a privateer hit a pitboard

What sucks is for the most part nobody even reads or has time to read those boards. Most elite riders say they dont see them .
