I put off by his “confidence”, but he can ride. He’s not going to quit though. But, he’s got to realize that the other guys on the gate aren’t just field fillers. Championships are won based on consistency and it’s too early to count him out.
Although at age 19, he’s a little old to continue the “danger boy” bit.

IDK, the Backstreet Boys didn’t change their name to Backstreet Men!

Racing smart and scoring points to gain on points leader.

I fully expected kitchen to beat him. Deegan wasn't as good in SX as he was outdoors. But we don't know how much of that was the lack of prep.

That said after kitchen and forkner were out I almost thought he'd go undefeated. He didnt have the speed today. That wasn't just to blame on the start. If Davis and difrancesco don't both run off the track he's most likely not catching them

A shit start combined with a few mistakes held him back. Juju was riding great and made less mistakes.

Deegan sits in 4th 10 points back from the red plate. I'm guessing he will start winning soon and claw his way to this championship.

Sessions aren't races.  Sessions tell who can do a single fast lap without race pressure and strategic thinking.  If you can't translate fast practice laps into race pace, the times are meaningless.

Deegan was only P1 in Q2. JUJU was P1 in Q1. According  to Kellen: Interesting, Juju was just on a lap and Deegan (who was rolling) looked back, saw it was him, and jumped right back on it in front of him for three corners before letting him by.

So deegan was trying to hold him up because he knows he's faster. Its great to see this kid melt down. Maybe he'll come back more humble.

With 250 sx theres less of a chance for the cream to rise. He's the fastest guy, but with a shorter main event and a season half as long theres more of a chance for the fastest and best guy to lose. In mx he could probably have 3 tip overs and still smoke the guys by the end but this is different

I could’ve sworn Beaumer scored more points than DNGR last night, guess I was watching a different race 🤷‍♂️

He’s closer than he was last week, because he’s graining points. Hard to understand I know

That's the drum I keep beating. Maybe I'm just remembering what I've just seen but I don't think his starts have ever been consistently good. Outdoors he's so much better it's not really a problem. Being back on the start on SX can lead you to getting caught up in chaos. We know it's not the bike that's for sure. If there's one we know about Deegz, he'll be working his ass off to improve them

I don't know. He started 8th. And he really only passed 3 guys because Davies and DiFrancesco both ran off the track and he was able to get by without making a pass.
I still think he'll win this title but he should be walking all over these guys especially with the amount of talk pre season.
In the heat he was the fastest because he made up over half a second per lap in the whoops because he just sent it. That went well until he lost control and damn near took out his entire team.

E/W shootouts will be interesting.

He was the best starter in the class last year.

The thing I see is that he gets off the gate ok, but then he struggles to navigate the first turn when all the riders start to funnel together. He looks like he just charges in and expects people to move out of his way.

He either passed them, or he didn't.  Results show he did, not his fault they made mistakes, just like its not theirs that he got a bad start again.

On RDL before A1, McGrath was asked about the Lamborghini and show Deegan had in the pits and MC was just like “hmmm, be careful”

Makes me wonder how he’d handle being kicked while he’s down the way he has done so to Hymas, Kitchen, or Hunter in the past when they were struggling.  Maybe it’ll show him that “entertaining sh*t talk” is not fun to be on the receiving end of when you’re off.  The deegan on the podium last night would not have enjoyed taking jabs to grow our sport I don’t believe.

I actually really like watching him ride and respect his race craft immensely, but being handed some humility hopefully changes his attitude on navigating the future.

Id like to see this as well. You know he has never experienced it before so he has no idea what it actually feels like. Humble pie is a dish best served cold. I’m sure his perspective would change a bit if he was on the recieving end of being kicked while hes down. I dont see anyone doing it to him tho because hes the only one who does it to other riders. It would be a valuable life lesson to learn though that can only be learned through on the job training.

It wouldn't suprise me if Deegan never wins an SX title.

250's? That would surprise me. 450's are a different animal. Stacked class. I've always felt like he doesn't have the same natural flow on a sx track like the best riders. Which is weird considering he's probably been on real sx tracks since he was on 65's. Way longer than the kids he's racing

How do you guys think HDs riding style will work on a 450? He rides the ever loving shit out of his 250, as much aggression as I’ve ever seen, but that might not work on a big bike. If it does, it’ll definitely be something to watch..

That wide open style literally won the 450 main last night

He has refined his riding technique quite a bit over the last two years imho. I think he will do just fine when the time comes.

It’s funny, one of deegs big things as an amateur was to get on SX early cause that’s what riders get paid big bucks for. Before he turned pro I remember people thinking he’d be an SX specialist. Hasn’t worked out that way yet.

My impression is that he went into A1 feeling good and like he's going to walk away with the title.  Obviously, the lackluster start and the crash in the main at A1 impacted him, but I think the real challenge he's facing right now is his inability to remain calm when he's coming back from the back or middle of the pack.

If you watch Eli, Jett or even Chase over the past two rounds, they've all been in a mediocre spot at some point during the evening, but they remain calm, continue to use their skill to dice through the pack ,and while they don't get back to P1, that salvage points.  Haiden is riding sloppy, freaking out and getting arm pump as he's not managing his emotions.

It seems like Haiden is feeling the pressure, and maybe understandably so, but he's the fastest guy out there, and I think he needs to focus on the big picture.

Juju isn't going to win outright the rest of the season.  Jo has some broken fingers, as does Ty.  Jordan is riding great, but he always does.  There are eight races left in the SX Season including E/W Shootouts.  He's got more than enough time to make up the 10 points on Juju if he wants to take home the title.

Why can’t JuJu win outright? He’s shown he’s one of the fastest riders the last two weeks. 3 of 4 top qualifier times. Word is Deegs messed with him during the 4th…

Right? Hard to understand that when JuJu earned 25 points and Deegs scored 20 points that he in fact did NOT gain points on him but lost points to him. Math is hard….
