Just wanted to bring this back to light, as many people at the time said it just seemed like two friends ripping on each other… if you ask me, Ricky’s being a real asshole here. I wouldn’t want to work alongside the guy either.

Personally, I hope he takes over the Pulp show once (or if) Steve decides to ever hang it up. Hoping SXU brings him some success though, DB deserves it.

Why would he want to take over Pulp pods when he had/has his own pods?

Pulp has both its audience and sponsor structure built in.

It's not the Tonight Show. It's a podcast. Build his own channel if that's what he wants to do

These are my opinions BTW

The opinions of MANY, I'll add.
I too agree DB is too classy to just openly throw RC under the boat, errr bus, I mean.
I also understand the criticism of DB not sticking it out, but at the end of the day he has the support of his family and by all accounts he's also been successful enough to support them. So even though the instability would be a little scary for others (myself included) he's made it work thus far and he'll probably keep making it work.
He told Gypsy he doesn't like being put in a box, unless HE'S making the box. I can respect that.

It’s also a tiny sport. DB isn’t going to torpedo the good will hes built up and his reputation in a public spat with RC.

This is like when your at a house party and there are people there you don’t necessarily care for but you mind your business so you don’t create a scene and ruin the party for everyone.

Oh boy we've gone full circle and now we're back to it being all RC's fault, even though DB didn't actually say it out loud.    If that is the case, why did RC single out DB?  Stew is ultra popular with the fans too, as is AC, and JT as well, and Weege also.   Is RC going to go after all of them LOL and pick them off one by one?  Why did he only do it to DB?   Just doesn't add up.... seems like DB might have been paranoid of that, but ultimately it was the NBC executive;s call.  Sometimes people just don't get along, and maybe that exec and DB just never saw eye to eye on things.

And as for DB saying that his popularity might have been his downfall.... come on, since when do people in media get removed from their jobs because they are popular with the fans LOL?  That;s what the media wants, popular people on their broadcasts!

Why do you feel the need to defend RC so hard? Legit question, I'm not trying to bust your balls or anything, just curious.

I would love to know who that NBC dinosaur is who hated Blair. It’s just such a friggon shame man. Everyone on the planet agreed Blair is the best. Why can’t it be him in the booth with fro, Villo- maybe a rotating panel like they did in the outdoors, and weege somewhere in there, on the floor etc  That would be the sickest.

I don’t care for stew or RC, but kind of prefer RC over stew. Whoever brings the most enthusiasm.

HOLY SHIT!!!

I thought RC was joking at first, but he was serious!!!!

Based on that video, it is obvious  that RC was DEFINITELY  jealous of Daniel's success and popularity.

I've  been  watching SX since the early  90's and Daniel was the best at that job in those 30+ years.

You do realize they are buddies, right? Not just co workers. I'd say Weege is more popular than DB, how come RC doesn't do the same to him?

Lol, and I would say, why do so many here hate RC? I don't even know the guy, but I watched him on Pulpmx anniversary show and he seemed like a cool guy, and whaddya know, his buddy  DB was sitting right next to him the whole time.

He's not the best broadcaster, but I do think he's improving at it. At A1 he did ok.

Why do u think he singled out DB (who is his friend by the way)? They're all popular, Weege probably the most... Read the comments on his walk and talk videos. Is RC jealous of him too?

Real shame that we didn’t get to enjoy DB for years to come. I’ve always loved his insight, passion and ideas for the sport. He would be great to have in the ears of those at Feld who call the shots.

To me , he comes across as the NBC exec's lack of respect for him being the only reason he left.

Though he described his relationship with RC as being fractured , he followed that up with saying that overall he viewed his time on the show with RC being a positive experience.  By him saying that, seems he's removing any blame from RC for his exit from NBC.

I'll pull the band-aid. I think DB was doing his job too good and becoming more assertive in his segments and becoming the darling of social media and forums and RC got territorial and talked to the guy at NBC (who already had a problem with DB ) who then called DB in and reminded him of his place and told him to tone it down and sit in the corner like a good boy. DB is holding back in his comments about RC.

Spot on Ape.

So basically because RC is considered the GOAT on the track he got picked over DB who can actually form sentences and speak correct English. Got it.

This is what puzzles me: DB mentioned watching film in that beatdown meeting with the NBC exec.  Oh, they WATCH FILM?

How on friggin' earth can they "watch film" and decide the stumbling bumbling RC is fit for his role?  And after how many years?  Unbelievable.

DB and RC were never competing for the same job. From what I've heard, DB wanted the job Weege currently has.

I'd say what DB did was actually worse, look at these threads on Vital, all speculation on who did what, but nobody actually knows. It's just a bunch of opinions, mine included, from people who have no real clue. DB could have squashed it with a simple and politically correct statement about RC, if indeed they now have beef and he's part of the reason DB left. But he left it a mystery.

Sometimes I think these guys want the drama, it gets them more interviews on shows like gypsy.

So you think RC has that much control and power, to influence an executive and get him to sit DB down and scold him for being too popular? Really??

And if RC is so universally hated, why would the executive even side with RC? Wouldn't he side with the more popular guy, DB??  Explain this to me people, it's seems to be the opposite of reality, go figure.

And Since when do broadcasters get in trouble for being too popular????? Just seems like alot of DB nut swingers on here, who also hate RC.

The guy laid it all out there the he resigned because he was in a bad situation. How did he do anything WORSE than anybody? What was he going to do keep driving down the dead end road until he drove off a cliff?

It was clear to me he did not lay the blame all on RC. I hope someday their relationship can be restored. It was clear he was hurt by him because he looked up to him so much.

Real life experiences being discussed here that most folks will find similar experiences.

I'm not talking about him resigning, I'm talking about how in his Gypsy interview he's left all this speculation about everything else that caused it.  Yes, He called out the NBC exec, but then never really mentioned RC by name, but made it seem like somebody else on the crew, like RC, was involved, which has then led to all this opinion and speculation on Vital.

Actually he did a fine job of laying it all out without saying too much. If you where paying attention he singled out a co-worker that threw him under the bus with NBC very early on. The way I read it that person was long down the road. You can decide who it was.

I put a note in my calendar to revisit this thread in a year to see if DB is still doing the show with Pulp and also still doing his Supercross U business. He sorta has a reputation of not sticking with things very long, so I guess we'll see. Hopefully Matthes doesn't offend him, or maybe the powerful Travis Marx doesn't get worried about DBs popularity and talk to Oggie in HR about sitting DB down for a good talking to.  /sarcasm

I got to say I have never seen somebody that claims to be so unattached to the situation defend one sides reputation so vigorously all the while trying to lay blame on the other.

It' actually has me rethinking RC had more of a part than Danial is willing to say.

You seem emotional and invested in defending RC, so I'm not really going to waste my time other than to say nobody said RC is universally hated. Outside of TV he's quite revered. He's not very good at broadcasting but in NBC's eyes RC is the star of the show, so yes he had a receptive ear at NBC.

Chalk up another one for Cooksey. He was all over this a year ago about the moron NBC exec that thinks RC is god and railroaded DB.
