And yet, in all the infinite wisdom on this site and the rest of the inner webs nobody has a link to a manual or video of adjusting the BFRC shock. Everybody’s answer is “buy a kyb”

Especially if you read the responses from KTM owners, then go read the KTM bankruptcy thread.

Update the thread title. It’s 2026 rumor season anyways right?

Yes it is pure gold.

And I am a diehard Suzuki guy - but I did convert to a 24 Husky FC350.

But I also just got a 1983 RM 250.  Very excited to get that on the track.  It is in good shape but will do some work on it as well.  So if anyone knows of where there are good parts for a 42 year old bike - let me know.

My dad has built two of these years. He gets parts. DM me and I'll send you his email.

This is the thread that never ends. I wonder what will come first, a new RM-Z450, or the discontinuation of the RM-Z450. 🤔

Both incidents, the lack of real updates on the Suzuki and KTM's financial troubles are a canary in the coal mine of this sport. With many of the AMA's rule changes, lack of any real involvement from anybody in land use issues, and constant one upping in technology our sport is slowly becoming a spectator based rather than participant-based sport. I would be certain many kids want a $5000 Cobra or KTM mini, but after Mom sees Travis and his ilk nuke himself at the XGames or that most pros cannot get through one season racing without injury how likely is that? Especially for the entry fees, maintenance costs, 1 hour plus drive to the track.

If it’s any consolation Osamu passed away at the end of the year

there is now one less road block in the way of Suzuki revitalizing their bike line up

So in the not to distant future they might actually start updating Mx bikes again (but I’ve heard nothing about it currently … just a euro 5 compliant gsxr1000 is getting closer)

We’ll be like nascar or F1 after this generation of riders ages out. If there are 40 riders at the track. 5 are kids, 3-5 are young men, the rest are 40+ and parents.

I’ve talked about that a lot too. Why in Motorsport do especially our Motorsport are we making it expensive when the rider is still 70-90% of the equation.

Spec Miata classes for moto would be the best thing…

Pretty much. It’s shameful watching the 55+ classes all on 450s getting jerked around out of every corner as they shut the throttle on and off as they get tossed around, but they “need” the 450 for the “start”.

I'm as guilty as the next guy, but I am 60 and an empty nester with a career. We need real land use representation, genuine hobby classes, sane track designs, etc.. Suzuki knows our sport is doomed, anyone else notice Suzuki's lack of involvement in everyone else's cash cow - the side by side. Suzuki knows the land use issue is an existential threat. The future may see us going to other countries to ride, not just 1-2 hours away.

“Spec Miata classes for moto” is exactly what we need. But what bike fits that description?

I’ve wanted to see a simplified version of a race bike for years, something like an air cooled KTM 250sx with modern geometry, ergos and everything else slightly downgraded to make it affordable and durable, then build the same thing for 10 years or more. But every time a manufacturer comes out with a new entry level model they cripple it with bizarre ergos and geometry..

I think the rmz250 as it sits today is that bike. It has low-mid power delivery with good roll on, it’s reliable, it’s simple. It’s not a 50hp rocket, you actually have to ride it and shift it.

If not that bike, then the yz125 if Yamaha would have stopped updating the msrp when they stopped updating the bike lol.

Bollocks, Suzuki is focused on where they can make the most money.  I highly doubt that they are considering land use issues and there is plenty of land to ride on, still.  Of course I live in the heart of the best riding on the planet Wyoming/Utah/Colorado border.  Rest assured I have and will pay a visit to the BLM offices, Trump moved their HQ to Grand Junction last time around, but failed to make it mandatory for the employees to move too.

They need a 450 to clear the jumps, after carrying no momentum through the corners.

There needs to be tracks most people are capable of riding. No doubles. Spec class for TTRs/CRFf/KLX style bikes.

I think it could be a little more aggressive than the klx level bikes, but I do get what you mean, a flowy gp vet style track prepped and ripped on klxs battling a bunch of guys would be a blast and lower the skill and risk barrier and equalize a lot of us.

That sounds like so much fun I wish it was a thing. Kind of like SCCA racing.
