He'd probably win out due to the weakness of the American series.
The way it was before to race SX you had to miss the GP's. So riders would obviously have to race the ama outdoors too if they wanted to race sx before. So the GP's have really started losing more riders then ever because of that fact.. Now with the new GP schedule the FIM and Guiseppe think that might make it where riders will still race the GP's even while racing AMA SX. Guiseppe's no fool. He knows he had to stop the bleeding.. He's also attacking the USA MX market as well by running a couple USGP's a year. That way guys like Ken Roczen that's riding SX and GP's may be able to bring on full time American based sponsors that want some world wide marketing as well. Someone that sponsors a SX / GP team not only gets national coverage w/SX they also get a couple USGP's and worldwide coverage with the other 10 GP's.
I think it's going to be interesting to see what happens in the MX/SX world in the future. Will more guys run SX full time and the GP's full time ? If so what kind of teams will form that are SX / GP teams?
This could get interesting.. No?
This will definitely help them to keep hold of their riders and I would say its a matter of time until 1 or 2 US based riders join the GP series. I would be suprised if any top 5 riders switched though.
The prospect of GP-Riders having the opportunity the race the US SX is very interesting.
I also think this might stop some top GP-Guys from going fulltime AMA SX and MX.
As for Roczen am very anxious, because here in Germany SX is not very big. Its more like Arenacross. It will be interesting to see how his SX-Skills will be compared to the regular AMA-SX-Guys.
Great news for the sport in Europe.
Pit Row
If so between Roczen, Herlings and Musquin, SX will gain some great riders for next year, and if the 2nd USGP is within driving distance, next year i will go to it,
I think people will be more accepting of a rider racing SX and then going to race GP's than a rider who races SX and then rides a couch for 6 months.
As for PC, if one of the Kawasaki teams in Europe have a rider who can win or compete in SX, Mitch will hire them. Mitch wants to win.
But keep in mind, this can create a few contractual conflict issues between various products.
How confusing would it be to the public if Rider X is using Pro-Taper in the US and Renthal in the GP's, and each company is running advertising of Racer X using their product?
I hope they don't get hurt in SX (or SX training) and bum out their chances to win a World title.
They'll be doing Lites SX like many others (French mostly) have done before them; probably West Coast in order to have more time to prepare for the GPs.
I also understand your point about Mitch wanting to win, but with so many fast up and coming riders why would he choose to spend his time with a person who will only benefit him half the year. As opposed to spending his time and money with a guy who will win both Sx and MX. It does take a lot of time and money getting rider up and running only to have him leave. I think he always has the pick of the lot and will stick with people who are here for the long term. Just my opin.
because the very same rider will be riding for Mitch's PC Team in Europe.....
