That would be a terrific experience for him but I'm afraid this boat has sailed, he's 35.

That's why we could say: it's now or never! 😉

Track looked different but really cool.

Anyone go from the us on this board? I was looking at flights at around 26 hours and $3,500. Sounds like two miserable days of travel.

That dirt looks fantastic.

Thanks to the locals that have posted pictures and shared their experience.

Not sure if they mentioned this, but I'm curious about Reid Taylor's situation in the SX2 class. In Saturday night's last SX2 race, his Empire Kawasaki failed on the start line, and the next night, he's on a CDR Yamaha. Anyone know what happened?

He did, but I just found it a bit unusual from a sponsor and obligation standpoint to switch directly from one factory team to another during the event.

Found an article that provides some clarity: https://www.motoonline.com.au/2024/11/24/cdr-drafts-in-taylor-as-barham-wsx-sx2-replacement-in-perth/

Seems like the best effort WSX has put out thus far. Hopefully they can continue to improve things.

I'm from Perth and did the Glendale weekend this year on a 5 day turn around. Ironically the long haul flight is the most pleasant. Typically a bit more room to spread out, quieter plane (typically)

Pumped to see real SX and some top riders in Perth. Great event, reasonably well attended, track held up way better than I anticipated. Speak of, stoked to see long lap times and a true full length track. Finish line booter was amazing to watch, and caught everyone's attention as you walked through the gates. Riders seemed to like it also?

Melbourne Aus-X is this coming weekend. Amazing time of year for Aussies.

Nice! I remember seeing that. If I do go that route I’ll be sure to reach out. I’d be coming from phx also! Do you plan on making the trip back here this year?

Hell yeah Blake, thanks for the photos and write up.

As a Perth native that moved to Vancouver 10 years ago, it's been very interesting watching both races on tv and how different they were. Perth/WA has a big MX/motorsport scene and culture so I'm not surprised on the crowd turnout at all, and the Western Australia tourism board did a great job on the tv coverage of promoting Perth and many of the different regions of WA. Track looked great too.

Vancouver is hockey centric, full of a lot of pretentious people and zero motorsport culture. The dirt that is available in BC is incredible but what was used looked like garbage. The promotion of Vancouver on tv was just the typical basic stuff in and the city and nothing amazing. The Vancouver race will struggle to progress with that crowd and would be better placed in Kelowna or Kamloops where there is a decent MX scene.

I moved from Vancouver to Vancouver Island a few months ago so I wasn't able to attend and obviously couldn't get back to my home town of Perth for that race. Ironically the first supercross race I went to was in 1995, KTM kings of supercross which was held at the same venue this wsx round was at, although it was actually a cricket/football oval rather than the rectangle stadium it is now, and the stands were smaller but the ground size bigger.

Haven’t watched yet. Did Joey get real good all of a sudden or did Kenny really shit the bed?

Joey won Superpole, while Kenny didn't earn any points from it. He also won one race over Kenny. Ken was faster than Joey most races but had horrible starts all weekend. Very unusual.

Joey was riding great and consistent though.

And I got trashed for saying how good he looked on the HONDA in an old post even after watching him live. He seems to have foudnb something he has been missing for a long time on that red machine!
