Seems someone strung up some wire across a trail and got Taddy pretty good. This kind of thing has happened in my area a few times. Luckily no one has been killed that I know of. Be careful out there.

JFK - I can't stop thinking of the person that would do this and the torture they deserve. Flat out evil, premeditated.

I had a very dear friend of mine die in this exact manner when I was 16. Hit a wire and broke his neck, it was devastating. People who do this should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The people who do things like this are the scum of the earth! Hope the recovery is smooth, Taddy!

Reminds me of some of the things Earth First !   used to do.   Hopefully an isolated incident.

I can’t understand why anyone would do such a thing, knowing what could/would happen.   Unbelievable.   Glad he was not more seriously injured.  This was bad enough.

If I remember correctly the Sierra Club would set booby traps on the old Barstow to Vegas race.

Edit: Was this here in the US or in Europe?

I would dedicate the rest of my life to ride that trail for 16 hours a day back and forth.

A kid was lost his life and was nearly decapitated from someone doing this in the hills behind my childhood house. Freaking scary.

Need to set up some trail cameras and catch these people.

That is some sort of form of attempted murder and they need to be caught.

Glad Taddy is ok and not worse than it could have been.

Yes indeed. Glad it was not his throat area. That was quite the slice Taddy took. So glad he's OK. Can't believe the low levels these activists will stoop to.

These are the tree hugging environmental folks. They do not care about humans. At least humans that disagree with them.

This happened to my friend when we were kids. Riding on this entrance to a trail we rode constantly, going at a good pace (about 35mph) in front of me and all of a sudden he got ejected off the bike. It was a barbed wire and it got him in the neck. Had to wrap my jersey around the wound so he wouldn’t bleed out. Special place in hell for people who do this 😡

Probably not an environmentalist but someone who thinks they own the property the trail is on. In South Western Kansas everyone rides in the Arkansas River bottom. It's public property high water market to high water market, but some people believe they own the bottom. Hording farmers and just hillbillies have put wire across the trail, one time my buddy and I came across t-posts driven into the trail at an angle like little spikes. Some people hold their possessions above all else and wouldn't think twice about killing or maiming someone to "protect" their land, even when technically it's not theirs. I was riding with my 5 year old son on a 4 wheeler trail and we came across a mowed area. I stopped and realized it was someone's property and was in the process of turning around when a bearded hillbilly came out yelling at us. I stopped because I knew I hadn't actually gone onto the property but was curious what he would say. He was cussing up a storm and then his father in-law, the actual land owner came from behind us in a pickup. They were super angry and got more angry when I pointed out I hadn't actually crossed the property line. They said they were calling the cops because I shouldn't have been in the drainage ditch, and didn't like when I said they'd get tickets too because they were also in the ditch. I didn't say that I had also seen the deer stand and several deer carcasses just off their property, and this was late spring about 5 months before actual deer season...

I saw that  on MX Vice last night, was going to put it up, but figured / hoped that it would appear here  through others.

Good on you Necro!

I'm really passionate about this sort of thing, through having , over many years, friends hurt very badly by Man Traps, and, my being lucky enough to be 'only' hurt slightly by them.

My local area, my trails  / tracks I've built and ridden over many decades now, I always check a loop for Traps before going at it - ALWAYS. And, in group rides in unfamiliar areas, I never ride as what I call , The Bull Bar and Barbed Wire  Tester. So many f**kwits  do such vile things as Man Traps.

It's attempted murder, pure and simple, and should be treated as such. But, seemingly, never is.

Over the last few weeks, in my street(s) / suburb, we've got a couple of Idiots getting around on Kawi 650 Twins, with gutted mufflers - the Worst sounding version of a noisy exhaust.  The Idiot(s) come around my corner, and rev the crap out of the bikes, clutch it and do utterly pathetic attempts at wheelies, whichever direction they go in, and you can hear them through our little suburb, doing , I assume, the same thing.

It piss's me off. So, I've been reporting them / him  for Noise. I don't give a flying f**k about being a 'dobber'. The noise is horrendous, multiple times a day and night. I've tried to wave him / them down, to warn them that they'll eventually get in a Lot of trouble with the authorities, and to try to make them understand the disservice to fellow Motorcyclists they do with their idiocy , but, I've been unsuccessful.

My neighbour, whose Husband is bedridden with Cancer, is incredibly distressed by this, as is her very, very ill husband . My Mum that lives with me is bed ridden too, and suffers through the continual noise from this / these pr**ks. As well as all my other Neighbours. It's making his last weeks / days very unpleasant. She's contacted the Police, they now have a case number, and I gave her the rego number.

Now to this :  - the other day she came to me, to ask me to help her either put a lot of gravel / oil / whatever in the corner to cause the culprits to crash. It took a bit for me to convince her that what she was wanting done, would endanger Others, and, it would be a Crime. And, that if she did so, I'd witness against her, despite my love for her and her husband. It really  took a while to get her to see sense, with her as distressed by this noise problem as she and her ill Husband are.

This. Geeked out hunters thinking it's their land will do some crazy shit, my brother thankfully saw the wire strung across our trail and stopped just in time with me right behind him when I was about 13. I don't even hunt, but someone accused me of tampering with their stand (not on their ground) and tried fighting me even after I told him he had the wrong person multiple times as nicely as I could. Then later we found him trespassing on our ground trying to secretly hunt, and he eventually lost his license being caught poaching.

I had a local landowner here run a strand of barbed wire about chest high across my trail. I saw it in time and skidded into it just hard enough that it stretched across my chest protector and scraped my arms and cut into the plastic. Scary...

I see heavy duty fishing line or photos of it at least once a year here in NJ. It’s always in the back of my mind when riding higher speed trail and it sucks. The consensus is that it’s usually hunters, but no one has ever been caught.

These were neck height:
