You guys are completely missing the point of these segments. They are called "human interest" segments and they put a face to the name of the rider. Fans want to know what their guy is like on and off the track. If you guys had even one iota of an idea what you were talking about you'd understand that these types of segments are what attracts new viewers and keeps regular ones around. They do this sort of thing in ALL sports.

Now stop whining and enjoy the ride.

I enjoyed the coverage. It was great since the webcast worked so well this week, then switch over to NBC for live HD coverage. Wish they would have stayed live for the 250s.

I'll agree and I hate the puff pieces but I guarantee stuff like that serves its purpose for the TV people. You know at least a % of non core fans just got to know two guys they didn't know before and rooted for them. Now because of that those people may tune in again next week to root for their new favorites. The brothers Hahn..
For me it was all good. I would just turn down the TV and turn up the internet during those. During the commercials as well. It's nice when they're live because you have live timing to keep up with whatever battle you want and the internet announcers when they cut away from Weege and Emig for whatever reason.

Overall great coverage all day long. Including the perfect 1st moto commercial free coverage(with souund) on the internet.

This is exactly the right spot for them. They have your full attention during the race. What is so hard to understand about these segments??

Personally, I'm a HUGE fan of the sport, not just the racing. The riders, their crews, their families, the sponsors even the fans....it's all a part of the big picture and I love it all.
Keep em' coming DC, MXSports, SPEED and NBC!! Great stuff!

Having races on Cbs (supercross) or NBC (Nationals) just means that the soul of the sports gets sold in an effort to increase its profile or popularity to the masses. Why? Fu*k the masses, having the masses on board doesnt lower the cost of my bike or the repairs on my bike or my gear or my gas so what's in it for me the established fan whose been a fan for 30 years.........I get to suffer through rediculously short broadcasts jammed with commercials, I get "educated" about the sport I love over and over again like Im a child and I have to sit through "rider pieces" when I already buy every magazine and visit every website and know more about each rider than his own mother.

Do you remember back around 2000 when Espn covered the races, each National had 4 hours of dedicated coverage, 2 hours for each class and most of it next day. David Bailey and Partner (Art Eckman, Todd Harris....) would analyze the race but mostly you just got racing. Have we progressed? Not in my opinion. I think Im going to dust off my Vhs tape of the '00 High Point National, grab a beer and pretend it's 2010.
