Thoughts? Wasn't expecting this. Trying to find my jaw on the floor. I think it came off.

More than I would’ve guessed based on his results. Money is good at the top of the 450 class, no doubt. No doubt someone like Webb or Roczen is over $2M base when they’re winning races each year. Tomac, Lawrence, Sexton easily over those guys as well, I’d wager.

Dammit, I didn't think I could like AC more than I do now!

I think he meant that was his base salary with all of his sponsors/deals right?  Not just from Kawi?

Correct. That’s without any bonuses he could’ve/would’ve earned.

Sounded like Kawi/Fox was the 1.8 million, he was head to toe fox too and their highest profile guy besides Roczen right? I was blown away that he was still getting that kind of money, kawi and fox must’ve loved him, good for him.

I heard that. I sure didn't agree with his take on fan's opinions of the broadcast team.

AC is top notch and it was cool that he was open about it. I was in the camp of people thinking that it was higher than expected, but these guys are so humble that I tend to forget they’re still professional athletes.  It’s a lot of money, but sadly, peanuts by comparison to stick and ball sports. I was more surprised that Matthes “only” makes $200k a year. That’s a good living by most standards, but I was thinking he’d was more in the realm of $300k-$400k with his high ceilings and residency at the sphere 😂

Riders salaries are so bizarre

Bogle on whiskey (I think) was saying almost all of his contracts were salary only, then AC at the end of his career making 1.8

I think there’s a fair amount of riders who make 7 figures when you wouldn’t assume they would, and then riders with nearly identical results that aren’t making 6

Edit*bonus only for Bogle

God damn! Good for him!
Be cool to know what the top Kawi rider (Febvre) makes in the GPs

Good man! He deserves it.  If the point of sponsorship is brand representation and to sell product he’s gotta be one of the best in the business for that.  Hope it lasts him a long time and he’s happy

AC provides much more value to his sponsors by just being himself than his recent results were. I’m still a bit surprised by the amount. I thought it would of been around $1M.

He makes more money than some other guys that beats him every week.

In the other hand Wil Hahn and many others made ten times less each year.

Some privateers with good sponsors and social media exposure make more than some entry level factory 250 guys.

I love AC and usually agree with what he has to say, but I'm with you and don't agree at all with his rant about broadcast critics. He has a point about people wanting to find something to bitch about, BUT there is also legitimate criticism of the broadcast.

RC has gotten better, most have acknowledged that, but he's still nowhere near the level of Stewart, Brayton, or even AC when he's dabbled in it. So people CAN acknowledge progress.

It's like whenever someone gets let behind the curtain and becomes part of the "crew" they now can't acknowledge any issues.

It's odd to me how Steve always brings up how Weege and JT are bought and paid for, yet he won't criticize Bondo or the glaring issues either.

As for AC's salary, yes that's A LOT of money, but that's still such a low number compared to some other professional sports. I know the crazy money isn't there like it is with stick and ball sports, but man I wish those top level elite guys could pull more than they do.

Considering how niche this sport is, the money at the top is really, really good.

Almost more surprised that Wil was pulling 300k from Kawi than what AC made 😂😂 Wil did good with Kawi too

Spot on. I was literally saying out loud “dude RC sucks” when AC was going off. I’ve got nothing but respect for RC as a former racer, businessman, and person but he just isn’t cut out for broadcasting, it’s as simple as that. And while I get ACs frustration I felt he took it to the point that nothing is a legitimate gripe. I disagree. When I’m paying money for a subscription to watch the races and you talk to me like I’m from outer space and have never seen a dirt bike, yeah I’m not good with that. What other professional sports broadcast does that? Still like AC and respect the hell out of him but you gotta be smart enough to recognize that broadcast needs help. Maybe he could go give the MXDN broadcast a listen.

AC is in the Weege/JT camp now where he would never dare to say something negative about the production because he want to climb the ladder and get in the booth someday.

Glad I’m not the only one. I had to turn it off.

The gaslighting was just, next level.

Agree with pretty much every post and also see entirely where you’re coming from.  While I listened to him I was also thinking “No, RC is just straight up not good at putting sentences together in general let alone this job…”

That being said, Adam is brand new to the broadcast.  Him, RC and others certainly see the comments joking about Adam taking RCs job and although it’s sort of just cheeky banter it’s also not.  I would love to see Adam or JT replace RC indefinitely and I’m sure Adam had to be diplomatic and dance around it to save face with his brand new coworkers at his brand new job.  He’s always been a diplomatic guy I can’t see him saying anything other than what he did simply out of respect

To paraphrase AC on his rant about broadcast critics, "If I am told to go into a room and point out everything green, I won't see reds or yellows, only green". What? I thought that was new age psycho-babble bullshit, just like the whole there are very few absolutes, and everything is an opinion. When a person is a professional presenter, or announcer to a potentially international audience, representing a sport that promotes multi-billion-dollar industries and he/she mispronounces, misrepresents, slays basic grade school grammar and sentence structure, repeats over and over cliches and lame comparisons, or can't even state the competitors names correctly at times, that can certainly be defined as bad or not good. Contrary to AC's rant some people are good at some things, others not so much. AC seems like a good guy; he might have a career as a broadcaster, but demonstrating he was home schooled by quoting the latest book he read on Oprah's list and quoting its theories as gospel rather than just an alternative view or one way to look at things is a bad move. Thank God Matthes doesn't have a lot of listeners.

It'd be disappointing if Jett isn't making 2.5 in HRC base salary. Jett's next contract has to be easy 3.5+ a year.

Although 1.8M is an impressive amount, it isn’t nothing compared to what stick and ball sports pay out. I actually thought it was a little steep on AC’s part of I’m being honest too.

Moto will never be paid as much as these sports because of the injuries that can and will happen. Most mom and Dad’s are flat out not willing to put there child on some rocket ship, that could potentially kill there kid. Some are not physically capable of maintaining a bike, the time, etc. etc etc. I could go on and on.

A single Mom can go to Wal Mart get a bat and glove, sign him up and all is good. Little Johnny learns to love baseball and the rest is history.

With that said, my son has done both baseball and moto at a decently high level. The amount I have put into moto is insanely more, no comparison at all. With us both knowing baseball would be the better option, he has now quit to focus more on his riding. The times, people, excitement and scenery just always brings us back.

Sorry to derail what is a good topic (rider salaries) but JT saying they have to dumb down the broadcast for those that stumble upon it…I have to search peacock each week to find the broadcast. I watch nothing else on peacock. How the algorithm doesn’t automatically bring it up for me each week is crazy.  No one is stumbling upon the broadcast, that is crazy talk
